the idea of both abby and lev being terrible sleepers…

• like i know abby is getting -3 hours a night, overheating 5 seconds in, waking up at random intervals and taking up the wholeeee bed. she also seems like the type to hold a pillow so lev is definitely getting strangled every night!

• meanwhile lev is probably tossing and turning like crazy, he DEF sleep talks, wakes up at no later than 4:30 am ready to start the day, and most likely is trying to sleep practically on top of abby… like borderline under her skin…

With having spent so little time with Yara, I think many fail to recognize the bond her and Abby shared, and the way that they so immediately understood each other.

While Yara may be younger with a less dark history, they have very similar hearts. They are warriors, protectors. They love their people with everything they have and are kind in general, but when push comes to shove, they'd kill anyone who stood in the way of saving a loved one.

Lev is an extremely empathetic person. He cared and felt remorse for the lives of the Serephites they killed to protect themselves, and also for the Wolves Abby had to kill to protect him. He asked Abby to spare Dina, and she did. Owen was similar in that he was much more empathetic for strangers than anyone else we know in the WLF. Abby's dad risked himself to check on sick animals. He was a doctor, fighting to save the whole world, even if imperfectly.

Abby and Yara are both drawn to extremely good and empathetic people, but often fail to recognize those traits in themselves. They feel that whatever innocence they do have is a worthwhile sacrifice if they can keep the goodness alive in others. If they can keep them alive, point blank.

On the way to Lev, Yara and Abby are entirely united in purpose and on the same page about things. They are there to get to and save Lev, everyone else in their way be damned. Sure, they might care about killing the Serephites, but they know their purpose, and it's to protect the younger child. Yara makes no comments on the lives lost because of them until Lev expressed sorrow. Their people are ultimately who matter most.

(Both Abby and Yara do express regret at the loss of lives during the attack and a desire that others stay safe, but their priorities dictate that doing anything different isn't possible.)

And I think they saw something of this in each other. Yara saw/heard of what Abby was willing to do for Lev, and recognized someone else who would both protect his life and his heart. And in that moment, she actively chose to trust her with him, even before she died. With her last sacrifice, Yara willingly put all her world in Abby's hands, and I think she felt some relief because she already knew that Abby would love him like she did.

Abby saw herself in Yara too, saw herself and her relationship with her dad, a redemption of that of sorts. If they saved Lev, it would be saving Yara's Jerry.

A huge part of why Lev and Abby work so well together and bond so quickly is because of who they already love. Abby had a similar heart to Yara, and Lev had a similar heart to Jerry and Owen.
