Working the selvage stitch like a brioche stitch, makes a very neat selvedge. Here I have used it on my latest shawl.
To do this:
Make a yarn over and slip the first stitch purlwise. Make sure to make the slipped stitch loose. Especially if you have a slanted edge, you should give the stitch a little tug. Otherwise the edge may turn out too tight.
When you get to the last stitch, knit it together with the yarn over.

This is one of my most used methods of binding off as it gives a polished finish to your projects it also has great stretchy memory that never loses its shape!
The tubular bind-off is a sewn bind-off which creates an invisible edge on a 1×1 rib matches perfectly to the tubular cast-on.

Current project:
The Lighthouse and the Kraken: A Love Story

Full disclosure: Ok, ok, it’s true, I’ve only finished ONE mitt at this point, but I wanted to show what the finished project will look like. Both mitts will be the same with the lighthouse on one side and the kraken on the other. I will then be able to wear them however I want, mixy or matchy.
I love this project so much already I can't wait to finish the second mitt yes the pattern at the wrist is little hearts because this is truly a labor of love in all senses of the word....
