The Last Battle of Peerceland
“The night was dark, the moon was shining high above the sky, the stars were bright and luminous, and the battle about to be held was certain to be fierce. The critters of Peerceland and the brutes of the high king knew that the weak would die and only the strongest would survive. For on this night, the great kings and queens of Peerceland knew that they would sacrifice themselves for the greater good of their wonderful land. In which, they knew that on this night... Peerceland would fall.
Princess Marie, the daughter of high King Raine and the high Queen Dawn, was the most beautiful princess in all the land. Her dark hair luxuriously fell into place and her eyes shone so bright that they made even the brightest stars jealous. Withheld in the tallest tower, made only of the strongest brick and the darkest stones, Princess Marie was in doubt that Prince David's plan would work. Yet the blazing fires from yonder shone brighter than any fire the stunning princess had ever seen. Therefore, a spark of hope lit her heart.
Prince David, with his great confidence and his powerful blue eyes, removed his silver helmet to show his fiery orange hair. He placed the helmet on a post that stood next to his battle-ready horse, Ember. Now, Ember was no ordinary horse. This unbelievable horse had not flesh, not eyes, not organs, not even a beating heart, but a charcoal black skeleton and a blazing mane made of the purest fire. Ember was driven by the exalted god of fire, Cinder. Prince David quickly mounted Ember, stroking it’s flaming mane. "Onward, friend. To the great tower itself," he spoke. Suddenly, with a few quick thumps, the horse had taken off in a blaze and a blur.
Awaiting the prince's arrival, there stood all of the creatures that belonged to the wondrous forest of Peerceland, poised to strike at any moment. There were beavers, wolves, a single one-eyed bear, boars, foxes, a great eagle, and all the rest of the few beasts that the tyrant’s of King Raine had yet to slay. The fantastic creatures were even more dangerous, for there were several centaurs, a giant ogre, a beautiful white pegasus, an army of one hundred Dwarves, and the great manticore, Florsal, the very creator of Peerceland. All were battle-ready, and prepared to fight alongside the prince until death ripped the souls from their living forms.
On the far north side of the great tower ranked King Raine’s army of Giants. They wore iron helmets and dark mail chain chest plates, held circular shields and massive wooden clubs, and stood roughly around 14 feet high. The high king sat upon the fastest horse in his possession, in which he named The Phantom. He sat mounted, with his left hand placed on his longsword's sheath and his right wrapped around the sword's handle, waiting for Prince David and his army to attack. Raine and his army of Giants and tyrants were vicious, and the king knew they’d slaughter the opposing army.
Prince David rose to his army's frontline and placed his shiny helmet back onto his head. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath... "I am high Prince David, descendant of Lord Zachary, the mightiest king this incredible land has hailed! And by his name, I call death upon thee, and I hail the wrath of Florsal, Cinder, and Zethorn! For Peerceland!" he shouted. Immediately, the two armies were screaming and shouting as they zoomed forth and clashed with each other. Peerceland’s last battle had begun...”
I tried. It means a lot to me, given that it’s one of my first “drafts for a book”. I may be an amateur, but it could be worse.

I realize now that he didn’t just break my heart. He broke me. He broke who I am. See, before I met him, I didn’t believe in love. I thought it was just something out of movies and fairytales. I believed in Santa Claus more than I did love. But then he showed me that it is very real. It is so real that it basically consumes you. The love becomes all you care about. And yeah, it can be great with all of the "good morning" texts and the midday kisses and the mandatory late night phone calls. But at times it can be hell. When you begin to worry about if they love you back or if they’ve started loving someone else, that’s when love becomes a bad thing. When he stops loving you, that’s when it becomes unbearable. That’s when you wish he never showed you how real it is, because the pain becomes real as well. You’d rather go back to believing in Santa and the Tooth Fairy, even the monsters under your bed. But you can’t. Because he showed you how real it is. He changed your perspective on things and there’s no going back.
