When people compare Hunter’s redemption arc in The Owl House to Zuko’s redemption arc in Avatar, it’s always so funny to me, because it’s literally like:

ok I’m just gonna say this but full stop if you think that RWBY “fell off” or peaked in the first 3 volumes then I’m sorry but you need to rewatch the series because i know for a fact it’s the nostalgia talking. Volumes 1-2 and like half of 3 are just. Not that good.
#Like I’m sorry guys i get it. I get wanting to go back to when the show was simpler but like#It’s kinda ass#It’s very charming and there’s a very good homegrown DIY energy to it#And it’s definitely impressive for the time but#You cannot look me in the eyes and say that volume 2 was where rwby peaked#Or that the writing “got bad”#Motherfucker RWBY’s upward swing in quality is so dramatic it’s practically a fucking shoryuken#There’s like… actual animation and good writing now#The only thing that I could POSSIBLY say that got worse overtime was the fights#And that’s because Monty Oum was a literal choreography genius dude like no shit they’re not gonna be able to replicate that#(And frankly starting in Volume 6 the fights are pretty gas too)#(They’re just a very different style that focuses less on actual choreography and more on dynamic camera movements)#(Oh yeah and also. Having actual plot relevance and stakes)#(That too)#Anyways sorry for the mini rant I’ve been rewatching RWBY with my sister and I’ve been thinking about this

When it’s over, and everyone’s left either doubled over in pain or backed into a corner out of fear, the kid is gone. Neo’s eyes flit to Cinder, crumpled into a bloody heap on the floor. Again. And that raised the question - if that was what Salem would do to her right-hand woman just for failing a mission - -Then what the hell was she gonna do to that kid? (OR: After Oscar is captured, Neo attempts to adjust to life in Salem's ranks. It does not go well.)
