POV you’re art and your bestest most specialest SecUnit goes “hey can you make a copy of me specifically to die” and you go “that’s an awful idea” and it goes “no fuck you it’s a great idea also you asked something to send to die so you can have me” and you shout “i didn’t mean you!” and it goes “stop yelling at me” which is maybe the first time it’s verbally pushed back on mistreatment in its life so you go entirely quiet because you are so so angry with it but also you can’t yell at it because it asked you not to
and then you send out the copy of it anyway to save your crew, and it saves your crew and another SecUnit and also itself
and then it dies

also i know i'm not pointing out anything revolutionary here but i am thinking nonstop about the parallels between gurathin and murderbot specifically in this case gurathin outright talking about his past suicidal thoughts versus murderbot's obvious passive suicidality in this episode

Gurathin's backstory as the company spy explains his mistrust of Murderbot so much better than the general "been hurt by the company and don't trust it or anything that comes from it" we had until now. It's way more personal, because HE has been in Murderbot's position, and knows what he could have done, if he hadn't been somehow saved by Mensah. Owned and controlled by the company, intent on doing things he didn't want and knew were wrong. That's why unlike others he's not comforted by MB hacked governor module reveal - after all, he has no governor module and was still played like a puppet, because there are other means of control. (Like for example the company might catch a rogue SecUnit and instead of melting it down right away, threaten that they will, unless it agrees to work on some non-standard operations that need more flexibility than controlled SecUnits could provide; it's conceivable)

and the less depressing corollary: you could have not touched your WIP in 6 months, but hear some song lyric or throwaway movie quote and suddenly find yourself writing nonstop for 9 hrs straight
writing is so funny because i could write nonstop for 9hrs and then hit a block where im like "how do i transition between this moment and the next?" and then i just dont touch it for 6 months
