 Twenty singles, Ten perfect matches, Two million dollars.

Twenty U.A. University students have decided to participate in a new reality show called FIND YOUR HERO. The show is about twenty singles being matched together through a process based on compatibility. Each week there will be a ceremony held, where everyone ‘locks’ in with the partner of their choosing and we find out how many perfect matches we have—but we will not know which pairs those perfect matches are. The only real way to figure that out is based on the Truth Booths, which are held the day before the ceremonies. One pair gets voted in and will be told if they are in fact a perfect match or not. If you are? You get the royal treatment, sent off to the honeymoon suite, and helping the others figure out the other matches—but if you aren’t?It’s back to the drawing board.

Weekly you are assigned someone new in the house to share a room with so you can get to know the contestants better. There will be dates on us so true connections can be discovered. .The challenges will be harder and emotionally taxing. You will be pushed to new limits that we haven’t seen on reality TV before.  And that isn’t all, signing onto this show means dealing with the aftermath that comes with it. Even after the summer away at the house– the students are contracted to stay part of the show as they navigate hero lives and university. Their contract expires on graduation day and they must face all the scrutiny that comes with being in the public eye 24/7.  Two million dollars doesn’t come without a price. 

You only get ten ceremonies and ten shots to win both love and the two million.

1. Entwined - Jason Reeves: “All that we are is defined by each other’s shipwrecked hearts.”

Life hasn’t exactly been gentle to either of them, but each experience has shaped them into who they are now. Whether or not that’s for better or worse is probably to be determined. But, they both know that they understand each other and sometimes that’s all you need.  

2. Ghosts that We Knew - Mumford & Sons: “ So give me hope in the darkness that I will see the light ‘Cause oh that gave me such a fright, But I will hold as long as you like, Just promise me we’ll be alright”

They met when they were very young. Their parents were friends and so even though they both had other friends– they remained a constant to each other throughout their lives. Whenever either of them was in a dark place they would be there to lend a hand and pull the other back to the light.

3. Daylight - Ron Pope: “I ain’t got no magic potion, All I know is that we’re better off together than we ever were alone, So if you let me try, Just give me time, Oh, Woman, I will find a way to help you ease your troubled mind.”

Aris suffer from terrible anxiety and sometimes that can make her want to disappear. It has never been easy and a lot of people don’t understand it. Evan has always been good about helping her come out of that headspace. He knows he can’t fix it for her, but he’s always there to be a friend. 

4. End Of the World - Ingrid Michaelson: “When the sun runs out and there’s no one to save you, Will you go to our favorite place and try to say goodbye?”

Their favorite place in the world was a treehouse that was at Evan’s grandparent’s house. His grandpa built it for Evan and his siblings. Throughout their lives, it was their favorite place to go. Even when they were in high school when things got tough they would meet each other there. Sometimes to talk, sometimes to laugh, sometimes just to overlook the view of the ocean. 

5. I’ll Keep You Safe - Sleeping At Last: “ ‘But I promise you I’ll keep you safe,I’ll keep you safe.”

 Evan, in particular, had a tumultuous childhood and it was hard for him to open up sometimes. But he always found safety in Aris and in return he always wanted to make sure that he could keep her safe as well.

6. Follow You - Bring Me the Horizon: “ Come sink into me and let me breathe you in I’ll be your gravity, you be my oxygen. ”

The first time Aris had a full on panic attack in a public place Evan was there to help her through it. He was able to help her anchor herself back to reality. And anytime Evan got too lost in his own head Aris would often remind him to breathe. 

7. King and Lionheart - Of Monsters And Men:  “ Howling ghosts they reappear in mountains that are stacked with fear, But you’re a king and I’m a lionheart. And in the sea that’s painted black, Creatures lurk below the deck, But you’re a king and I’m a lionheart.”

Aris sees Evan as the best and strongest person that she knows. He has never let anything tear down his ambition and keeps going no matter what is up against him. She has always been able to dig deep and find her own strength because of his example.

8. Take on The World - You Me At Six: “ And just say the word, we’ll take on the world, Just say you’re hurt, we’ll face the worst, Nobody knows you the way that I know you, Look in my eyes. I will never desert you. And just say the word, we’ll take on the world  ”

 Evan and Aris have both always been able to read each other, particularly through their eyes. Even if they are playing every part right to prove to everyone else that they’re okay, they can tell instantly if it’s an act just by locking eyes. 

9. Where Does It Hurt - Alexz Johnson: “ I’ve been there too. I’ve wasted myself.And you were there for me. So whenever you crash, wherever you lay, that’s where I’ll be.”

There were countless nights that Aris and Evan would spend talking until the sun came up. Even if he didn’t want to talk about what was going on it was always important to Aris that he knew she was there for him. Even now as adults she will drop everything to be there for him no matter what with a fresh cup of tea to help soothe him. 

10. Fight For You - Pluto Ft Max: “I’ll never bend and break not afraid to be bruised.”

When they were playing in the park at a young age, an older boy pushed Aris off the swing because he thought it was funny. This kid was about two times their size, but Evan told him to back off and apologize. The kid told Evan that he was going to hit him. A trembling Evan told him to go ahead, but luckily for them, Aris’ older brother saw the whole thing and scared the kid off. 

11. Start of Time - Gabrielle Aplin: “ My voice is just a whisper louder than the screams you hear.”

One of their most memorable nights was shortly before they had to go their separate ways for a while. Evan was really struggling with his father and it was one of the few times Aris ever saw him completely doubting himself. He was always so cooly calm and confident in her eyes. But, this time was different.They drove for hours and she pushed him to vent despite his protest that it would be fine. Eventually, they stopped slightly up the coast in a different beach town than their own. They sat by the shore watching the sunrise when Aris gently reminded him that his worth didn’t stem from his father– it came from himself and that he just had to hold onto that and trust her when he couldn’t trust himself. 

12. No One Else - Phillipa Soo: “ And your childlike eyes and your distant smile.”

Even though they lived away from each other for a while and sometimes lost touch because things got too busy– Aris never forgot about anything Evan did for her. He left a lasting impression that followed her wherever she went.

Who could have ever thought a prestigious, reserved, no-nonsense politician could trip on her own feet over a plucky, sensitive, sweet-as-sugar preschool teacher?

Melina and Audrey could tell you that the old saying is true–opposites really do attract.  Meeting later in life after love had proven to be nothing but aches for the both of them, Audrey was quickly enamored. It wasn’t difficult to see why–Melina, the elegant dancer and energetic soul, the adorable lover of all things cats and cute, was magnetic to someone so withdrawn and bound to her work, and had stolen her heart quickly. 

Meanwhile, Melina had seen something endearing in all of Audrey’s little quirks–everything has to be alphabetical or numerical order; speaking in her sleep; her morning rituals that were never even a moment’s off schedule. But most of all, despite the hard exterior Audrey wears, Melina easily saw the heart within. Audrey, sternness and stuffiness aside, wants nothing more than to fix the broken world in which they live in. Though her world is cut-throat, she carries it upon her shoulders regardless and devotes her life to her work–knowing it’s all to make a difference. In Melina’s eyes, she knows no greater hero than her wife.

Battle for Mewni: The evolution of Marco Diaz

Hello my gems!

Thank you guys so much for the positive feedback on my Star post which can be found here, if you haven’t seen it. Today I wanted to talk about Marco Diaz! I have to be honest and say that I’m Starco trash, so I apologize to anyone reading this who isn’t a fan. But I felt Marco really went through it during Battle for Mewni and it all had to do with Star. His story line was my favorite in these episodes. If you guys would like an analysis of anyone else, let me know! I think I might do one on Moon and maybe even Ludo! Anyway, enough of my blabbering let’s get started!

We start the episode with Marco clearly being upset in Star’s absence. It’s 3 AM and he is just sulking. In the background, we can faintly hear some music and someone very nicely translated the lyrics and I will link that post here. This was done on purpose, this song is meant to mean something and tell us how Marco is really feeling.

Don’t get me wrong I would be pretty devastated if my best friend suddenly left without much of an explanation, but I certainly would not be listening to “lost love” songs. This is important even if Marco himself doesn’t realize it yet. I truly believe that he has feelings for Star and I’m not saying he doesn’t like or have feelings for Jackie. I think he does, but I think his feelings for Star were put into a box because Marco has had this idea of who he thinks his crush should be. His actions speak much louder than his words.

He can hardly eat, he isn’t sleeping and the poor guy won’t let his parents take down the decorations because he wants everything to be the same. And this is what is very telling about Marco and his character. Everyone should know by now that he is always fighting change. He wants to go on more adventures he says, but he won’t unless Star drags him into it (actions.)  He isn’t safe he says, but he continues to help Star not run into danger in the pilot. Again, what he says VS what he does. 

The next time we see Marco in Battle for Mewni is when he goes to The Butterfly Castle. He is hoping to find Star there, but he doesn’t. The poor heartbroken guy came with a box of cereal for her. That was his excuse to see her and it’s very sweet. Marco’s whole world has been turned upside down and the only person on his mind right now is Star and everything that’s important to her.  When my best friend and I were discussing the episode she was saying that when someone tells you they like you-- usually you have to sit back and kind of go over everything. Marco didn’t have time to think about it and rationalize anything.

 He needs things to feel normal for him again so he tries to go find answers. I believe Marco is of the mindset that if he can just get Star back then he can stuff this all away. In other words, he can begin to rationalize again.

Also, this subtle foreshadowing of River handing Marco the crown has me living. Well, I can’t guarantee that it’s foreshadowing, but I’m hoping it is. Anyway, side note over.

Marco consoles River after everything and helps him see that he could turn things around. It’s very similar to how he usually helps Star realize something. River even makes a point to mention that Marco sounds just like Moon. 

“You sound just like my wife and that’s just what I need.”  

I think it’s funny how they pointed this out specifically.They could have simply had River say “Thanks, Marco, that’s just what I needed to hear.” Or any other phrase really, but they picked that out. 

Why?

Because in this instance River highlights the bond he shares with his wife that Starco shares with each other. It isn’t a one sided thing. In the flashback, we see that River supports Moon when everyone else is trying to make decisions for her; he believes in her. Just like Moon believes in River. It’s the same way Starco believes in each other and this was a very subtle way of highlighting that.

While they are in the dungeon Marco manages to break free because of the butter and decides that he wants to fight for the Kingdom. River even tells him that he should just go because this isn’t his fight, but he doesn’t listen. He is a hero like Star and just like she has learned things from him-- he has learned from her too. He is willing to fight for her home and more importantly, he wants to do that for Star. He even mentioned it earlier when talking to River. While I do think Marco genuinely wanted to make River feel better because he cares about him-- I think his underlying motivation comes back to Star. He wants her to have a place to come back to and he wants her to know that she can come back to their home on Earth too. It’s that motivation that is driving his fight right now and making him forget about being “safe”.

“Guys look I’m not a soldier either, but there’s a time when you have to get off the sidelines and get involved. And if the four of us work together we can save the true king of Mewni.”

He is brave enough to go down there and try to get the key from Ludo himself. This is part of his personal growth. I don’t think that Marco has grown as much as Star over the course of the two seasons mainly because he didn’t need to. He has been coming out of his own shell slowly but surely which is a great thing. Even though Marco has always been the “Safe Kid”, he always jumps in to help Star out. He even did this in the pilot when Ludo first attacked her.

But what I like about this is that he has confidence in his voice, a true confidence which is not something that we get often from Marco. Normally, he needs Star around to be there to have his back in a fight, but right now he is doing it on his own.

And one of best scenes in my opinion. Marco and Star finally see each other again. You can see the smile come beaming onto his face and you can tell he’s truly present in the moment He starts to babble about how he thought he was never going to see her again. If Star hadn’t cut him off with a hug I wonder what he would have said. I think for once his words would have aligned with his actions. But we will never know!  Curse you, Daron! 

Either way, the hug alone is very sweet and I love that there isn’t any awkwardness here. Marco isn’t putting his foot in his mouth or telling Star something like “Oh I totally missed you, friend.” Or mentioning Jackie. I think that’s because as I said this caused a shift in Marco. He was forced to confront everything that he feels for Star and while there hasn’t been time to process it-- it’s still there via his actions.

I love the little smile he gets here when Star calls him cute. It’s very bashful and honestly too adorable for words. I think it shows how comfortable he subconsciously is with this idea. I just really love it. I’m trash, okay?

This isn’t really a big deal, but I thought it was kind of cute that he wanted his beret back. Hmmm, liking it when Star calls you cute, huh Marco? I see you.

Buffrog and Moon luckily come to bail him out. (Also, lol bless petty Marco leaving them there.) But anyway, he becomes very worried for Star and tells Moon they have to get to her. He wants to make sure that she’s safe and his expression is kind of heartbreaking. Earlier he was laughing at Ludo and now he’s actually scared for her. 

When they get to Star and see she is using the “Whispering Spell” it is clear that Marco is obviously very worried for her. I’m sure he is standing there wondering how they’re going to find her and wondering why she is talking from inside Ludo. There are a million questions, but at least in this moment, he knew she was okay and safe.

It isn’t until Toffee comes back right before his eyes and crushes the rest of the wand. Shock is apparent on all of their faces and it’s heart-wrenching to see. I think in this moment that Marco is forced to confront those feelings. It’s hard not to when you think that person is gone and a million emotions are flying through him.

The shock and pain that is captured in his expression are great and it’s almost like you’re watching him relive every moment that they’ve ever had together. He’s seeing just how much Star has always meant to him. He’s young so I can still even say that he might not exactly be saying he loves her-- but he at least has to realize by this point that he has feelings for her.

The feelings all bubble to the surface as he punches a hole THROUGH Toffee. A great parallel to earlier when he punched the shackle and couldn’t break it-- but now overcome with all these emotions he is able to punch through someone. Are you getting it? Through someone’s body!? He was about to commit murder! It’s probably one of the best if not the best Marco moment.

Of all the places he could punch Toffee though he picks the place where his heart should be. (Great symbolism btw to show how cold Toffee really is.) That’s probably how Marco feels right now like his insides are melted into goo and like there is a permanent hole there without Star. And what makes it worse is that his efforts are for nothing. Toffee heals and throws him into a wall. Neither he or Moon could make a difference and Toffee’s just walking away victorious. I can’t even begin to imagine how that must feel and nor do I want to. Marco is going through the unimaginable (casual Hamilton reference.)

Anyway, Buffrog wakes Marco so he can help Moon. This is so pure because yes, Marco is consoling her, but I think he too is hoping. He doesn’t know how all that magic stuff works and even though the logical side of him is telling him that Star is gone-- he can’t let that be true. Instead, he chooses to hope with Moon.

When Star comes back they’re standing there in complete awe of her and I’m sure more emotions are flooding through Marco. He’s overjoyed, confused and probably very happy that magic actually exists.

They all run over to Star and I love the way he says “Hi” to her. There is so much love in his tone and I can hear him the best out of anyone. I think this was done on purpose. We should now know that everything is different even more different than it was when Star confessed her feelings. While Marco, of course, hasn’t confessed his feelings verbally, I think his actions have spoken a lot louder than any words ever could.

But, because Marco is who he is I don’t think this will stick around for long. Now that Star is okay the dust will settle and I think we will see Marco fighting his feelings. If he hasn’t realized yet that he likes her at least on a subconscious level, then I don’t think he ever will. But fret not Staco fans, I do think he has realized that by his actions throughout this whole arc. For any people who like Jackie ( I like her myself)  don’t worry, I have full faith in Daron and the team. I don’t think Jackie will be treated terribly. I do think Marco will go through a lot of confusion, but I think ultimately that it will all turn out okay.

 I’m excited to see where they do take his journey from here. As I said if I had to guess I think he will go back to denial and that things might get slightly awkward-- but I think overall it will lead to a great story. Marco, in the beginning, wanted so badly for nothing to change. But, it has and now he has to come face to face with it all-- no matter how much he might want to push it all away.

P.S. I love how throughout this whole thing. Neither Star nor Marco refers to each other as a friend or a best friend. They both used to do that all the time in plenty of other episodes, but this time all the walls are down and feelings were totally, totally, totally, present.

So, buckle up Starco fans, it’s about to get a little weird and a little wild for season three. And I can’t wait!

Battle for Mewni: The evolution of Star Butterfly

Hello, guys!

It’s been awhile, but I’m back. After Battle for Mewni I was trying to figure out what I wanted to write about and now I know. I want to talk about the characters and how rich they were in those episodes. I think these episodes really shaped the characters in new ways so I hope you’re willing to dive in with me.  So, let’s start with Star.

In the beginning, Star is acting like her normal self. I personally think while Star has grown a lot this season, but in these moments she wants to show off for her mom. She keeps trying to use her magic to impress her mom like when she goes after the rats. She’s also more than ready for action which is very similar to the Star we meet in season one.  What I like about this is it is still the fun Star that we all know and love.

She’s fearless and ready to beat Toffee. She is very frustrated by the fact that Moon is running scared. She doesn’t realize that Moon’s fear comes from a place of her past, but also from a place of wanting to protect her daughter at all costs. I like this contrast between the two of them, it shows us how naive Star really is. We see this further when Star continues to push Moon and she blurts out that Lechmet is dead.

Star is shocked by this but still, pushes that they go fight. While of course, she is right, Moon isn’t exactly wrong either. They do need to hide for the time being so that they can think of a plan to tackle this problem. Both girls have flawed logic here. Running away from the problem doesn’t do anything, but charging in blindly is not a smart idea either. Star wants to fight and at this moment she is confident in the fact that she destroyed Toffee before. She thinks that she can do anything and that magic will be able to do that.

I love how they highlight this. Star doesn’t care if the magic is corrupted and wants to use it anyway because it’s what she knows. She still hasn’t completely gotten the value of doing things that hard way sometimes. I love this because as we know in “The hard way”, Glossaryck calls Star a skimmer. At this point in time Star is still very much the skimmer, she only looks at the surface of things and doesn’t take the time to think things through. I think all these little pieces we’ve seen so far are beautiful character reminders and prepare us for the metamorphosis we see with Star.

“I thought you sent Grandma to a grandma farm to hang out with other grandmas.”

This was another huge blow for Star. In the first season, she really struggles with her mom and they don’t really talk about things. If anything Star is intimidated by her mom and like any teen doesn’t think her mom understands her. Their relationship has developed over season two, especially in “Song Day”. We as the audience already had an idea Star grew up very sheltered and in a racist environment. In “Song Day” we learned that Moon was trying to protect Star from being criticized by her kingdom as well.  And here again, we see that they lied to Star about what happened to her grandmother. 

Star has never had any reason to doubt her mom, but now she is finding out the hard truth. She has to take this time to slow down and dip down into her feelings. She calms down and goes to comfort her mother rather than flying off the handle about being lied to again. It’s a very touching moment, especially when Star hands Moon the wand to let her know that she’s willing to listen.

But this doesn’t last too long. When we see Star again she does do a good thing by saving them from drowning, but then she’s back on the horse of killing Toffee. I think a small part of this now has more to do with a need for vengeance because no one messes with Star’s Mama. I think it’s telling because she says things like “destroy” and “kill.” Star I feel in this moment is thinking about all the pain Toffee has caused her family. He took Marco from her in “Storm the Castle” and now she found out that he killed her grandmother. Even I can understand why she wants to charge in there and take him out, but again she isn’t thinking straight. She is back to skimming on the surface of the issue at hand.

Realizing they need a place to stay Star takes Moon to the last place Moon ever expected. They go to see Buffrog. I like this moment because again it shows the contrast between Star and her mother. Moon is closed off and clearly uncomfortable. It’s easy to understand why. She has not only sheltered Star but also herself because of past tragedy. Star, on the other hand, has learned so much thanks to her own “general” Marco Diaz. He was the one that started to make Star question things. It started in “Lobster Claws” and we saw it again in “Mewidependence Day”. She has since learned that it isn’t as black and white as she once thought. She even states this to Moon.

“Mom get with the times not all monsters are bad.”

This is displayed purposely to show that both still have growing to do. Moon needs to learn that her closed off mind is harmful to her kingdom and to the monsters in general while Star needs to learn about dipping down and thinking things through.

For the rest of “Puddle Defender” Star continues to fight against her mother by trying to defy her. She thinks that she can just wing something as monumental as this. She knows that making a plan is needed because she lies to Buffrog about it. Star is being naive and arrogant here thinking she can take down Toffee without a plan (And when she does it’s because Glossaryck was the one with a plan or dumb luck). Even Katrina tells her that this is a crazy idea and says that she is very worried. But, Star is insistent that she can handle Toffee.

We see this continue when Star fights Ludo herself. She throws herself into danger without thinking. And when Marco expresses his concern for the King she is quick to write it off. (Though it is a fair assumption with Ludo usually, it’s still arrogant.) Ludo had a wand now, a corrupted wand at that so Star really should have been a little more worried about her dad.

I believe we catch a brief glimpse of her being concerned when Ludo uses the spell on her and drags her out of the dungeon. However, this quickly dissipates when he puts her down and she once again has full confidence.

After Star reveals to Ludo that Toffee is inside the wand and has corrupted them she has a realization. This is one of my favorite moments because Star knows that she has to destroy Toffee and is willing to sacrifice herself to do it by using the “Whispering Spell”. It’s an incredibly brave and sad moment, but she knows that she probably won’t get another chance to do this. The music really softens here and the melody feels like it would be Star’s inner monologue at the moment. Everything is somber, but she’s willing to do anything.

This is such huge growth in comparison to the wacky princess we knew in the pilot who just wanted to have fun. I don’t think Star in the pilot would have done something this brave. She just wanted to have the wand and fight monsters. But since then she has changed so much and watching it lead up to something this big is a true test of character.

 With glossy eyes, she apologizes to her mom and Marco. When Moon tells her to run away, Star doesn’t. She has made peace with this choice though she doesn’t know the exact outcome she knows it’s what she needs to do.

She faces her decision head on, ready for whatever happens.

After living through that Star is brought face to face goop with Toffee. Star is not really scared of him at this moment. She is actually glad that she was right that it was him and that now she can face him. Toffee always the calculating villain shows her how the magic is going to be gone for good now because of him.

Star goes to tell her mom, but Toffee has cut off their communication. She decides to fight Toffee so that her mom doesn’t have to give Toffee what he wants. This scene is brilliant because Star’s arrogance is completely crushed. She realizes that she is in trouble and though she is trying she is at a huge disadvantage to Toffee. He is able to merely flick her away like a fly. He leaves her there to drown in the magic which is honestly really poetic. (Toffee you evil jerk.)

We come back to Star who is fighting for her life after easily being defeated. Her desperate fight to live is hard to watch. She didn’t want to die, but she was willing to for her Kingdom.  We get this slight glimmer of hope when Star sees some of the uncorrupted magic and tries to go after it. We all think that maybe just for a moment everything will be okay. Even Star has this hope and determination. It’s her last chance.

I like the imagery here and this could totally just be me reaching, but I just feel like it’s a good symbol of her journey. Despite being around all this darkness Star still searches for the light and good in everything. She is hope and change that could bring new life to Mewni.

She swims towards it with every last bit of determination she has and what is so soul crushing about this is that she doesn’t get it. It disappears right before her eyes and she drowns in that sea of darkness. We’re left feeling hopeless and full of despair, unsure of what’s going to happen next.

Thank God we do see Star again, but we are all uncertain if she is dead or not. The lighting isn’t bleak and very different from other lighting used in the show. It’s a good indication that Star and Glossaryck are really in some kind of limbo.

I love the interaction between them here because I do feel like Glossaryck knew exactly what he was doing. They wouldn’t have made a big deal about the pudding ball he pointed to if it didn’t mean something. He even shifts his eyes a few times to indicate that he is most certainly teaching her something. He knows that Star is a rebel princess and whatever you tell her not to do, well she’s going to do the opposite. Someone actually explains Glossaryck really well here, so please check that out.

But anyway, I think Glossaryck did do this on purpose. Another example is the time he hid in the donut box so that Star would listen to him without knowing she was listening to him. He banters with her during this scene and even tries to get her to calm down when she is freaking out. He says he is sorry that Star felt betrayed, but it’s clear to us that she wasn’t. I love how he tells Star “This is where we are now.” so that she can focus on the soup (Which btw is a great meditation technique. Look at Glossaryck staying in the present moment.) He mentions that  it is regular soup, but then we see it glow and know that it is, in fact, magic soup.

He knows Star by now and they make a point earlier in the season to point out that Star’s training is different from Moons. (Again mentioned in that other post). So Star takes this lesson and finally reaches her full potential to dip down by sticking her hands in the boiling soup. Glossaryck doesn’t even try hard to stop her and says a very unconvincing “uh oh,” as it’s all happening. Pretty sneaky, Glossaryck.

“You think I’m a skimmer, but I’m a dipper.”

And after this we see our girl save the day. She emerges in that beautiful form of hers (like a caterpillar out of their cocoon. Love it.) which is bright yellow radiating hope and light. A new version of not only Star but the wand has been born. I think this one represents her best. It has a new mature look about it, but also her horns are present to remind us that she is still the Star we all know and love. Growth doesn’t have to mean losing who you are. All of the best things about Star are what will make her a great queen and though she does still have to refine her skills-- she made amazing progress.

Battle for Mewni was a great episode for Star and I loved being able to explore it. I think in the future we will see a new version of Star. Of course, as I said she still has a lot to learn, but now we all know she can really dip down and I think this is just the surface of her power. If you all remember what “Baby” said, she said she hadn’t seen power like that since Queen Eclipsa.

Star Butterfly is the hope and light that Mewni needs to lead them to greatness.
