So like people conspiracize that Lilith owns Alastors soul, and to go down to Charlie's hotel to keep an eye on her. Now this is why I don't think that's true; for one in the pilot episode Alastor saw Charlie on the TV, the princess of Hell. Alastor disappeared for 7 years, is it convenient that Lilith also left 7 years ago? Yes, but we'll get to that. Alastor had obviously lost most of his power from not collecting souls over the past 7 years, Husk and Nifty didn't even know where he went. He was supposed to be the most, if not one of the most, powerful overlords in Hell. When he saw the princess of hell was starting a hotel he obviously took the chance to "help" (manipulate) her into thinking he was actually going to assist her. Earning her trust in order to restore the power he lost, which is why Charlie still owes Alastor a favor from when they made a deal in Episode 7.

The reason why I think that Lilith doesn't own him is because there's no way she could without Lucifer knowing, Lilith chose to go to heaven, my knowledge on that? I'm unsure. Could be she got sick of Lucifer not actually reigning over Hell. Anyway, yeah I don't believe Alastor was sent to spy on Charlie, because Lute was the one to confront Lilith about "handling her daughter". That's my take on the zesty deer man.
