Non-Sequitur Gore Zine - Issue 1 Vol. 1

Non-Sequitur Gore is all about pop culture experiences and the ways they have changed us, profoundly or otherwise. I envision Non-Sequitur Gore to be a space to bring awareness to the ways in which our media consumption has influenced our biases, subconscious, beliefs, and the ways we interact with one another. I see pop culture as a jumping-off point, where we begin by looking at the interstices of our experiences and can unravel our point of view through shining a critical lens on what kind of effect media has had on our lives. It is my hope that future issues of Non-Sequitur Gore will explore a wide range of topics.

This issue of Non-Sequitur Gore explores our very first experiences with pop culture. The first moments where we noticed something different in our awareness. It features:

Haven’t shared a whole lot lately. Instagram sorta feels like a chore and I just feel kinda meh about it all. I also have been teaching and thinking about teaching and education a whole lot and kind of want to practice what I preach and not be on my phone and just do things because I enjoy them, sharing and validation be damned. Also feeling disillusioned with the amount of gatekeeping on here and the “you’re not a good person if you don’t do xyz” posts. I used to want thousands of followers and to sell my art on here but now that feels hollow and idk if making “art products” is where my heart lies. But I am enjoying seeing my students create and thinking about the future of art education and my place in all that. I’ll probably keep posting on here and keep it about that. This whole thing is such a quagmire and makes me OVERTHINK. I really envy people that just dgaf about anything unlike me whos gafs about it all. Maybe that’s the spirit of the artist.
