Call me Renn! I’m pretty much a background character in the grand scheme of things. She/her, American. I post art and some random thoughts.

You have to kill your favorite character to survive. Can you?

- Physically yes, but not emotionally.

I dunno man. I found out today that a subway sandwich is $14 now. A shitty subway footlong sandwich that isn't actually 12 inches long and is occasionally made with expired ingredients and was never a great option to start with. I ate those in high school because I was broke and at the mall a lot.
There are poke bowls in my city from a local place for $16. Super fresh fish and veg, warm rice, more than I can eat in one sitting, for the price of a sandwich and a drink at america's most mid-tier sandwich shop.
Someone in another post said (paraphrased) you used to be able to get something mediocre for cheap, but now the mediocre things cost as much as the nice things so why would you?

Has anyone written a fic where the original version of Odysseus (as depicted by Homer) reacts to EPIC, or vice versa? The musical hits all the plot points of the actual journey, but a lot of the characterizations have been adjusted for a modern audience, and I think someone actually from that time period would be hilariously offended.
#epic the musical#the odyssey#odysseus#fic idea#I feel like he would appreciate the storytelling medium#but some of the creative decisions would definitely rub him the wrong way#(remember that Ancient Greece was not exactly a kind society; and Odysseus’s actions as the protagonist reflect that)

Heard someone at Coffeehouse say “If Vaccines really caused Autism, the American Railway system would’ve skyrocketed”, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it.

Things I want to see in a future Life Series:
Single-biome or otherwise limited map. It's all water. It's all desert. It's sky islands. It's a cave world. Something where the map itself becomes a challenge to be overcome
Roles for dead players. I'm remembering things like the Bdubs seance, Mumbo and Skizz as zombie minions, etc (honestly, even the "the ghosts want blood" from 3rd Life) -- give the players who have run out of lives some task or goal, some way to stay involved in the series all the way to the end.
Fewer gimmicky mechanics. I loved Secret Life and Wild Life, but I miss the simplicity of older series. However I always love a good Boogeyman.
Oli Orionsound. He's not a player, he has infinite lives, he's just there. Update Changelog: Added Oli Orionsound.

Bug Fact: Mosquito Hawks (aka Crane Flies) are not Mosquitos nor Hawks! They look like big mosquitos, but they don't even have a mouth. Pictures Below

Volume 2 Masterpost ▴♥︎▴
They look kinda scary, but they fly like a drunk sailor and are really funny once you know they can't even hurt you.

I know Dogwarts is often seen as a super loyal and unified group in fanon, but from a recent rewatch of Third Life, this is honestly my read on Dogwarts as a group.

Narrative parallels
(or, “that time in a story based on/inspired by epics where the protagonist had a fateful encounter with a god of the seas”)
Poseidon design belongs to @neal-illustrator , and I took a lot of inspiration from this depiction of Ulmo and Tuor meeting.
Crappy phone-camera close-ups below:

idk, I kinda like how the phone camera makes the colors warmer.
#epic the musical#greek mythology#it feels inaccurate to tag this as the odyssey#epic poseidon#odysseus#the silmarillion#tolkien#ulmo#tuor#I finally got around to listening to EPIC about two weeks ago#and I’ve been strangely hesitant to post about it here#I don’t really consider myself part of the fandom (despite how often I look through the AO3 tag)#(…and despite how much I absolutely LOVE Neal’s art lmao)#i count it more as a resurgence of my preexisting love of Greek mythology#Another comparison I can’t get out of my head is the Odyssey and the Song of Roland#but I don’t really know what I can do with that one
