(BTW Tomoe referring to Lupin II as "Jim" is a reference to the Jim Barnett persona Lupin I and III have both used. My hc is that Tomoe was originally introduced to him as Jim Barnett II and it's morphed into sort of a nickname for him)

Secretly heiress to the long-thought-defunct Alabaster crime family. Not much is known of her past. A confident and sadistic woman who will stop at nothing to achieve her goals. Has a fascination with the human mind and often resorts to breaking her opponents psychologically. Wields a custom built lance that can send electric shocks through its victims.

LupinWeek2024 Day 4 - AUs

In a way, thieves and idols aren't really so different.

So I had ZERO ideas for this prompt aside from "do something based on Starlight Serenade" (which honestly just barely qualifies as an AU lmao) so I just decided to do a pseudo-poster featuring a scene from the AU in development

(As I was drawing this it occurred to me I've never actually explained what the fucking plot of this AU is so explanation under the cut!)

For those unaware, Starlight Serenade is a multimedia AU series project I've had in the works for a while now (there's a sideblog if you're interested: @starlight-serenade-project ) taking place after the end of Part 6. Basically everything in the final two episodes is the same except Lupin was snapped out of Tomoe's brainwashing manually by the gang instead of just doing it himself and he has no memory of the entire incident afterwards. The AU story takes place a few months later; Lupin's recovered well physically, but mentally/emotionally? Hell no.

The plot is basically Lupin III does Macross Plus by way of Evangelion. The gang are approached by pop star Lady Iris a few months after the incident and asked to steal two magical gemstones from secret locations along the route of her concert tour. Lupin, having been on hiatus the whole time and very eager to get back to some semblance of normalcy, eagerly agrees to her request. But just who is she? What are these gems for? Why does her manager/older sister want them so badly? What are Lupin's real motives behind helping this random singer? And what is with these bizarre dreams he's been having involving Tomoe? Find out whenever I get around to actually telling this story!

This drawing takes place in the middle of the story, after Iris has (spoilers) betrayed the gang and Fujiko and Goemon have gone missing (also Zenigata's been taken off the Lupin case for plot reasons so there's that too). Iris has appeared in front of Lupin again one night to patch things up and disclose a bit more info on what's going on, and the two mend their friendship. (They have sort of a Lupin & Clarisse-esque sibling relationship going on. Purely platonic)

tomoe and shinobu are actually sisters and tomoe instructed shinobu to watch over lupin in her place after she faked her death but shinobu knows what fucked up shit her sister had planned for lupin and so wanted to try and make him obey his father's wishes for him in order to protect her nephew from his mother's potential influence in this essay i will

All of them having been used by her, made part of her little scheme, treated as pawns in her quest to reach who she thought was her son, and had their lives either altered or ended as a result. Mattea, Arianna, Mercedes, Mylene, Linfeng, Gabby, Hazel, Amelia, Muru, Finn, her mother and who knows how many more.  His sisters, scattered across the globe with no knowledge of each other’s existence, forever linked because of one person. Him. It made him want to scream.

Over the past couple days I've been doing some Serenade-themed designs for my Redbubble store and at long last they're all finally done!

Alongside remaking the first two Iris pieces I ever put on there (not just cause I don't have the original files for them anymore- original versions are still up though!), I've also put up new art of Iris in different outfits I've drawn her in over the past year or so. The individual designs can be bought on stickers as well as shirts and other products, or there's a standalone collection of all 4 of them as stickers!

Today is the one year anniversary of this blog! I know I haven't really done a lot with it since I started it but I want to post more stuff in the future. Hopefully soon I'll finally start working on making this project a reality! 💜
