hello citizens, is anyone interested in having their whole day ruined by hearing Halsin's dialogue if you fuck up his ritual to save Thaniel by trying to enter the portal???

I read about it a long time ago on tumblr, but idt that post had audio, and I attempted to find it on youtube, but either it doesnt exist there, or more likely, youtube's garbage and likely AI powered search engine is preventing me from finding it

So I had to go to the BG3 dialogue parser to find it. I'm contemplating actually doing it in game to get a video but honestly......................the audio files hurt me so much to listen to idk if i can stomach that 😂 but if people are interested ill do a video too (i will hurt myself so you dont have to 😂)

So in talking about Silmë's desire to someday stand upon the shores of Evermeet and see the starlight on the Trackless Seas, I ASSUMED Evermeet had a lot of beaches just like Valinor bc it is literally Valinor, I mean it even has its own tol eressëa ffs

However I have discovered the 2E book Elves of Evermeet (available for free on anyflip!) and

So only ONE beach in Evermeet, NO beaches in Waterdeep (mud flats instead!?), and Baldur's Gate with its seatower and balduran looks out to sea statue and yet ISNT EVEN ON THE OCEAN???

Baldurs gate not having a ballroom scene where we get to see Wyll in his element was such a mistake. It wouldve been cool maybe if instead that was tied in with finding his father and maybe there was clues or investigations to make with npcs to finding the iron throne

Piggybacking off this to first laugh at knife's suffering bc he deserves it, and two, remind everyone that a wizard such as Gale surely has a teleportation circle in his tower, which means that, despite Gale keeping it 80 degrees in the tower all winter long, Silmë hates these horrible winters so fucking much she is using that circle to take the kids back to the Glade every winter 🤣

She and the kids pop back thru the circle into Waterdeep when Gale gets home from work, or later on, when Estel (their 2nd child) gets back from class at Blackstaff. But then after dinner, they are running right back to the Glade so "we can spend the rest of the evening and sleep the night in a place where we do not have to worry about freezing to death 🥰" 😂

i think of Baldur's Gate as having a kind of oceanic southwestern European, not-quite-Mediterranean climate (i imagine it like Galicia/Santiago de Compostela in Spain - since Baldur's Gate on Toril maps roughly to Spain on Earth). rainy, foggy, not leaning to either extreme (hot or cold).

Waterdeep canonically has brutal winters so when Knife (who's never been outside the Gate except for during the tadpole adventures) visits Gale for the first time (during the winter like the wild animal he is), he is so incredibly miserable and caught off-guard, like it's almost surreal to him to think that people choose live there. Gale told him to be ready for it but he had literally no concept of how cold Waterdeep can be

he also HATES spending money... and i bet Waterdeep has a robust scene of businesses who majorly upcharge winter gear bc of ignorant Baldurian suckers like Knife

anyway the cold!!!
