Crashed out last night and filtered the jegulus tag out of my feed. I still see that a post has jegulus and I can choose to see it but like… I don’t have to and I’m very happy. I don’t hate regulus, the ship just doesn’t do it for me and now I don’t have to see it because it’s everywhere

It's truly lovely to see how little patience and time you have for him. It restores the balance of fandom I would say. (I say this all while being a fan of him. And it's not just a boy, I like dead unimportant women too: Emmeline Vance and Mafalda Weasley my beloves)

Hahah it's honestly got nothing to do with Regulus as a character, I promise! I actually really like him too! I think he has the potential for a very interesting arc. Which nobody pays attention to anyway because Kreacher is sadly forgotten most of the time, it's just annoying how a background character has suddenly become the fandom protagonist lol (when it should be Lily) so I'm usually just jokingly pushing back against that.

Anyway, I understand why Regulus is so popular because he is an intriguing background character, and the little we know about him does give him a lot of complexity! At least I understand it more than I understand someone like Rosier, and I'd understand it even more if people actually focused on what makes Reg interesting (which is his relationship with Kreacher and his importance to Kreacher's arc) in favour of shipping two bland character tropes together. Because of this his character becomes a weird amalgamation of other characters like Lily, Sirius, Remus, and Sev. The entire reason Reg did what he did was that he loved his family, and Kreacher most of all, but inexplicably people portray him as breaking away from or rebelling against his family lol. And he definitely did NOT do it for James haha

So fanon Regulus= killed all my livestock and destroyed my crops, but canon Regulus= actually a character that I like and feel empathy for!

i never understood the regulus hate bcs in my mind he seemed like such an interesting character with lost potential who (if he had succeeded) could have changed the course of the main narrative SIGNIFICANTLY

however, then i discovered jegulus and i was like “ohhh .. that’s why people shit on regulus”

like don’t get me wrong, i get it, it’s nonsensical to take a small background character and blow him up to overshadow the main canon cast — but expanding on a character you find interesting IS the whole point of fandom tbh

but if you’re gonna mischaracterise the mf so bad that you pair him up with someone he would Never BE WITH??

and in doing so you shun the main female character , the woman who GAVE HER LIFE to kickstart this franchise you hold so dear

and then when that’s called out, it’s covered up with jegulily??!?? tf is that? it’s another attempt at shoving regulus into something where he doesn’t belong like . stop . please stop i’m literally begging

and this isn’t even coming from a hatred for regulus , you can’t point that finger at me i fucking love regulus, i literally created an oc to be with him and before people say that my oc is basically james SHES NOT JAMES SHES MORE LIKE OOC JAMES THAT THE FANDOM PRETENDS IS GOSPEL

but if you wanted to pair up regulus with another person , there’s evan?? there’s barty?? and if you wanted to ship rosekiller instead, then why not do the same thing you did with regulus and expand on a minor side character to fit the traits that would work for him INSTEAD OF RIPPING APART CANON CHARACTERISATION AND TURNING JAMES AND LILY AND THE OTHER MARAUDERS INTO OCS
