The truth of defense

I wanted to become the best version of myself, and I knew that if I wanted to succeed, looking at others wouldn’t be the answer.

but I did it anyway.

they say to love yourself, but I couldn’t— or wouldn’t, do that because I didn’t want to look like an idiot receiving blades when my back is turned, simply because I am too busy “focusing on myself” rather than keeping my guard, and staying on watch.

ambition because of love is real.

when I was with you, I could’ve done anything for the sake of your wellbeing.

After you left, the ambition of love still existed but not in the same form, just in the form of hoping and having faith that you would come back, and we’d have that love still.

Then, when it hit me that you weren’t coming back, that you weren’t going to change your mind, all that ambition burned away, yet the love stayed. It left me as a shell of who I was, and exhaustion and being drained was what remained.

Maybe that ambition is still there in some way, because I don’t want to think about how you’ve wronged me while it’s your special day.
