Daniel Martindale from Indiana, undercover as an aid worker in Ukraine. American citizen Daniel Martindale, 33, who worked as an informant for Moscow's forces from within Ukraine for two years, was granted Russian citizenship this Tuesday, the 15th, by order of President Vladimir Putin.
The ceremony was broadcast on state television and showed the new Russian citizen, wearing a suit and tie, displaying his new passport.
“I, Daniel Richard Martindale, voluntarily and knowingly accept the citizenship of the Russian Federation,” Martindale declared, in fluent Russian.
Born in the United States, Martindale grew up on farms in upstate New York and Indiana. In 2018, he moved to Vladivostok, a port city in Russia, where he studied the language and taught English.
Just days before Russia's invasion of Ukraine, in February 2022, Martindale, who had been living in Poland, crossed into Ukraine by bicycle through the Polish border. Disguised as a Christian missionary, he began operating in a Ukrainian village near the front line in Donbas, where he gathered and passed on classified military information to Russian troops about Ukrainian positions for more than two years. He was extracted from the region by Moscow special forces last year.
The intelligence provided by Martindale reportedly helped guide Russian attacks, including the offensive against the city of Kurakhove, a strategic point in Ukraine's logistics network. xxx
In November of last year, already in Moscow, Martindale confirmed that he had been communicating with the Russians via Telegram and said he had contributed to saving soldiers’ lives. “I did everything I could to protect the Russians and build a future for them in Ukraine,” he told the local press.
Martindale spoke very fluent German. "It was striking how well he spoke German. You could hear the slightly slurred accent, otherwise it was flawless." He also spoke Polish, Chinese, and Russian fluently.
He repeatedly disappeared for short periods, and also when a US aid group was in the region. He is said to have travelled around with the Ukrainian military administration.
Martindale was active in unloading and distributing aid supplies in Selydove near Pokrovsk and near Vuhledar, where the Russians say he gave them information that enabled them to capture Bohoiavlenka on 27 October.
Martindale was "noticeably reticent about giving information about himself." However, the German volunteer says that secrecy is not unusual near the front and is in fact strongly recommended: "Our helpers do not introduce themselves there with their real names."

Recently I’ve been working on drawing as many different clone helmets as I can think of, and this is the result! I’ve actually drawn quite a few more clones than these, chances are if you don’t see your favourite copy paste man here I have already drawn him I just had to limit the number to 50 as these are going to be stickers available via gacha at a couple upcoming cons :)
Tumblr is going to break if I try to tag this with every character shown, so I’m just going to use the popular tags (Rex, Cody, etc) and hope it gets to the right people
