Sickness
Well for the past week I've been sick and on Tuesday I tested positive for COVID. Thankfully for the past two days I have tested negative and so I'm off out with the wife for a coffee date.

Go West
After weeks of working and nothing else I decided to book a last minute deal in a Premier Inn in St David's West Wales.
We have stayed at that Premier Inn before and so decided to make it a road trip with the kids. We left much later than usual and so spent most of the day travelling and getting some last minute bits and pieces but overall we enjoyed the weekend trip.
We did a nice costal walk along Saint Non's and a trip to Newgale Beach which was nice to blow the cobwebs away.

Surrender Review
I have had the book surrender by Bono on my list to read for a few months now after several podcasts that I listen to covered a few sections from the book. I decided to read alongside listening to the audiobook version as it was narrated by bono himself and I have to say that the audio version is definitely better because using the author's voice just adds to the experience .
I will call myself a fan of you too however I definitely am not a super fan I like some of the songs I've never seen them in concert, however this book has definitely given me some insight into their band and has given me more respect for them than I had before.
I would probably rate this book and eight out of 10 and if you have any interest in the band then I definitely recommend giving it a go.

I am a Hitman (review)
I have just finished my latest read from Amazon, this book was purchased for me for Christmas and it was an enjoyable read.
It feels strange to say that a book about the life of a hitman has been enjoyable but that is what this one has actually been. From the moment I started the book I have found it easy reading and also fascinating so much that I didn't want to put it down. The author did a good job at covering his life without glorifying it and also showed it had not only affected him but also his marriage.
If you like books that cover real life and experience then I recommend this book.

Spare - Review
On my last post I mentioned how I started the new book by Prince Harry called "Spare", I have completed this book today and I have to say that whilst some of the information did not come across as 100% accurate (dates of items mainly) I actually enjoyed the book. I'm certainly not a fan of the royal family, but this book made me curious as to some of the ways in which Harry said the media portrays people as being the bad guy just for their profits.
We have all seen the media go after people so much that they end up broken or worse and the fact that currently the media is trying to ruin Harry makes me wonder if what he has said is true and in use today.
I would suggest that anyone wanting to read this book do so with an open mind. I had respect for Harry for his military service, however, his decision to almost brag on the number of people he killed during his service makes the respect swingle a bit.

Spare: by Prince Harry Part 1 Review
So I started this book yesterday and I'm roughly 28% of the way through, so far I've enjoyed the insight into the feelings and life of Harry, however, there are some inconsistencies in the book such as items discussed at certain dates. Whilst it is possible that Harry has mixed up brand names such as Xbox wasn't launched until 2001 yet mentioned as a gift off his recently deceased mother Princess Diana in the late 90's, surely there should be a proof reader who checks these things.
The book is certainly an eye opener nine the less and the raw honesty is certainly refreshing. I'm sure the media will continue to try and spin up hate towards this book but I recommend reading it anyway.

First completed book of 2023
Today is January 10th and I have completed my first book of 2023. The ebook was a gift and I started it towards the end of December and has enabled me to complete it before the end of January.
The book is titled "I am a Drug Lord" and at first I found the chapters slow to build up any substance and I was a bit hesitant which is probably why it took me a bit longer to finish than it should have.
The initial few chapters are a good background material but at times I felt that they were there just to give the book some padding. After a few chapters thankfully it gets more interesting and I ended up enjoying it.
Tumblr media
I now plan on starting another book which is all over the news here in the UK, called "Spare" it's by Prince Harry and I'm a little torn over reading this book as I'm certainly not a Royal family fan but I did have respect for Harry when he serverd in the military. I am going to read it as whether or not I like it they are a party of our Countries past, present and future. I'm sure I'll share some of my feelings on this journey in my journal entries.

New Year New Goals
It's officially January 1st 2023 and the day has been a busy one as usual. This year our plans were a little different to previous years but it was still an enjoyable time.
I have set a new reading goal this year of 16 books as I do not currently plan on reading every single day.
Tumblr media
I am hoping to read most days but do not want the pressure for the days were things get out of my control.
My current book is I Am a Drug Lord which is a little slow to start off but hopefully it will pick up soon.

End of year review
Well 2022 is finally coming to it's natural end and I always try to reflect back on the year that we faced. This year has certainly been one of challenges and change, I personally took a step back on my tech reviews and focused more on other personal interests. I've had the pleasure of talking more with local tech enthusiastic people which is always a bonus.
I've successfully read 30 books which is double to my original goal. My journaling has not been as consistent as I would have liked but it has certainly helped me focus more.
Tumblr media
The past few months have certainly been challenging ones and often stressful but one thing for certain is I won't let the bad times outshine the good times. I'm hopeful for 2023 but I'm also realistic that just because 2022 is closing doesn't mean that 2023 will magically change the current situations.
If you've the time to read this I hope that 2023 is a good year for you all.

I look forward to reading more adventurous of Mallory in the future. In the meantime it's time to start one of the new books that's been gifted to me by my loving wife.
