WINNING POEM NO 1 -KELVIN MACHARIA-''A WOMANS CRY''
WINNING POEM NO 1 -KELVIN MACHARIA-”A WOMANS CRY”
A WOMAN’S CRY
Filled with pain and confusion,
I’ve lost of my baby,
A woman filled with immense pain,
Pain from my long labor,
And pain for the loss of my only child.
Whispers of I being a curse,
Are creeping in my village,
And my community is accusing me of infidelity,
Stories are now about the ‘woman’s situation.’
A woman whom is now suffering from steady abandonment,
I have become the woman…

WINNING POEMS NO 2:JANET MBURU- ''REALITY KNOCKS''
WINNING POEMS NO 2:JANET MBURU- ”REALITY KNOCKS”
POEM: Reality Knocks.
By Jancye the Poet
That smell
From that well
I remember it so well..
All over the road dripping
Is the embarassment they kept facing.
Talk of others visting the lavatories often..
And the screams I received now and then
Screams for pain to get rid of a waste fluid
Not to talk of the abnormal passage of the waste solid
To some food became poison..
Staying hungry was almost…

WINNING POEMS NO 3- REHEMA ZUBERI-''DRIP,DROP''
WINNING POEMS NO 3- REHEMA ZUBERI-”DRIP,DROP”
DRIP, DROP, STOP.
From the maternity to the labour room
All that could be heard were her screams
Pain, anguish, agony and torment
Tears have left their marks on her face
It’s been many hours shy of a day
She is in labour but nothing
She is giving up, everyone is giving up
When the baby finally comes, it is gone
It couldn’t keep up with the struggle
On hearing that, the to be mother is…

NOTABLE MENTION: MAUREEN NYAMAO- ''SAY NO TO FISTULA''
NOTABLE MENTION: MAUREEN NYAMAO- ”SAY NO TO FISTULA”
Say no to fistula
Blessed is the womb,
That carried for nine months,
Blessed is a doctor,
Who stayed to cure what was seen,
Hail is a nurse who stayed guard all night,
But what if…
We were never told,
We were never warned,
We never heard them tell,
Fistula I heard them say…
That it kills one slowly,
That it takes that dignity out of them,
That it renders them vulnerable,
And makes them weak.

NOTABLE MENTION:GIDEON MUTAI-''MAMA'S LAMENT''
NOTABLE MENTION:GIDEON MUTAI-”MAMA’S LAMENT”
Mama’s Lament
Mama lives in solitude
Long divorced
Cries and frets
But still it leaks
And the smell repulsive.
Ten years keeping it dark
No hint to a medical buff
She doesn’t want to share
‘cause she thinks it’s normal
So, she’d better face it rough.
Mama is oblivious
That fistula is atypical
That there is a way out
Only if she speaks out
And be attended to.
Mama
Has been stigmatized,

NOTABLE MENTIONS AHMED ABDI-''STOP FISTULA STIGMATIZATION''
NOTABLE MENTIONS AHMED ABDI-”STOP FISTULA STIGMATIZATION”
Stop the stigmatization
I found her on my way,
Weeping and full of sorrow,
I could not weigh,
How such a beautiful lady could cry and who made her do so!
As I was turning back,
I heard yelling and barks,
Insulting the lady,
How filthy and cursed she was.
One of them shouting “kama Mungu amekulaani mbona unaishi, si ujiuwe uende motoni.”
I asked one of them who seemed to be learned,
To the lady…

Hello there, its goooood to be be back finally after some busy break.
So in the coming series of posts we will be bringing to the limelight the very important personalities and brands that ensured project ALPHA II photo x video shoot was a big success.
Onto our very first feature we introduce the amazing, the beautiful ,the talented and the charming media personality and host of Stowelink TV on YouTube, Sharon Kalunge. We did an interview with her and this is what she got to say.
Q: HELLO ,INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND WHAT YOU DO
My name is Sharon Kalung’e a 21 year old graduate from Kenyatta University. I am a radio presenter at KU RADIO,and a TV host at kyeni TV
Q:WHAT IS YOUR STORY,WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A MEDIA PERSONALITY AND A HOST?
My avid love for media started when I was 10 years old in class 5, I loved listening to presenters doing their shows and yearned to be one someday. In high school I was the outspoken confident girl who always wanted to be noticed. My peers and I would make skits of interviews and I would always be the host. After forth form, I insisted that journalism was what I wanted to pursue and my parents accepted.
Q:WHAT KEEPS YOU GOING WHEN IT GETS TOUGH?
Sometimes I feel discouraged by some comments I get on social media and also what some friends tell me. But I always remember the few who always wish me well and support me. Doing a morning show requires me to wake up early even when it’s chilly and raining. But eventually I know my hard work will pay someday.
Q:WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BEST MOMENTS WHILE HOSTING SHOWS?
The advantage of hosting shows is that I get to speak my mind when something has annoyed me. It’s also amazing when I help nurture young talents in the entertainment, innovation and business industries. Media is fun as you get to network and build connections with big people in the industry.
Q:WHO HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE PERSONALITY THAT YOU’VE EVER HOSTED?
I can’t really highlight a personality but every time I host someone, they inspire me differently.
Q:WHAT DOES PROJECT ALPHA AND YOUR COLLABORATION WITH STOWELNK MEAN FOR YOU AND YOUR BRAND?
Stowelink approaching me to ask me to be their host was a life changing experience. I Have always been passionate about charity and so I felt honored to be considered the perfect person for the job. I believe that working at Stowelink will make me learn more and also will make me increase publicity and experience.
Q: HOW HAVE YOU BENEFITED FROM BEING A MEDIA PERSONALITY AND HOW DO YOU GIVE BACK TO THE SOCIETY?
Being a media personality has really boosted my confidence and made me more outspoken and eloquent.
I help by being a voice to the voiceless; I address issues affecting the society on my shows.
Q:BESIDES BEING A HOST,WHAT ELSE DO YOU DO?
I am a blogger, poet,photographer and actress.
Q:HOW CAN PEOPLE REACH YOU?

SHINE A LIGHT ON SLAVERY WINNING POEM
VOICE OF THE SLAVE
“Does anybody need a digger? This is a digger, a big strong man, he’ll dig,” says an auctioneer, “What am I bid, what am I bid?”
A clause that should not at all shine a light in a life-
A gentleness of fraud covered in greatness of haul!

NO3 SHINE A LIGHT ON SLAVERY WINNING POEM
Is it that we were never told of our story?
Is it that they never told us that black is beautiful?
Is it that we were never told where our race is from?
Is it because we never hear it in our favorite songs?
Does slavery make us more famous than we were before?
Is it that which Muammar was killed for?
We were to love each other black,

NOTABLE MENTION-SHINE A LIGHT ON SLAVERY POEM: VALERY WAMBUI
It is still fresh in our memories
The way they treat us like beasts
Tears rolling down our cheeks for they never listened to our pleads
Let us have peace is the song of the day
But it is never as it was
We never danced to the beats of papawemba
Our villages, never got a new member
We buried our babies when they are so tender
Slavery trade is the new beast in our village
They laughed at as for we…
