Embroidery Stitch Resource
A website with descriptions of the stitches, a short history of their use, and pictures and step-by-step instructions on how to make them! Really good resource for embroiderers and menders!

I'm experimenting with using wood stain on my embroidery hoops to give them a more high quality look and feel. Was inspired by this article on craftingcheerfully.com.
This turned out a lot better than I expected it to. Instead of the gel stains the author recommends, I used oil stains.
Prepared the hoop by removing the screw and covering up the metal bits with some masking tape. After that I roughed it up with some sandpaper (I used 80 grit, but I'd probably recommend 100 or higher for a more even colouring) and cleaned off all the dust.
Then I applied a coat of varathane pre-stain wood conditioner, let it sit for 30 minutes as suggested and then applied 4 coats of varathane oil-based stain in the Ebony colour.
I let that dry overnight and then applied a coat of varathane's oil-based polyurethane coating.
All told, for my first time ever working with wood stains, it didn't go terribly. Definitely do all of this outside or in an otherwise very well ventilated area and be careful because all of these steps involve working with highly flammable volatile organic solvents or solutions thereof.
I'll definitely keep experimenting with this. Would love to hear about anyone's experiences working with wood stains either for embroidery or otherwise.

I finally got an embroidery stand!! It helps so much when doing pieces that feature a lot of French knots, or in this case are entirely composed of French knots.
I'm considering selling this piece once it's done and donating any proceeds to the PCRF.
Please donate and do what you can to help the Palestinian people during this genocide. Even if you can't go out and protest, you can still spread the word by talking to people in meat space about it and organizing even in little ways.

Hello Everyone!
Today is the first day of the weeklong strike for a ceasefire in Gaza.
I have realized that I do not think the message has spread far, at least on this website. This might be due to the lack of internet in Gaza, it has been down for days. Not much can be said by the citizens there, it's like some people forgot about them. I encourage all of you to share this post, or make your own, letting everyone know about this strike. This is something that should transcend the aesthetic of your blog. My blog was a gimmick blog, but for this week, it is a blog for spreading information and awareness.
Bisan Odwa (@wizard_bisan1 on instagram) has called for this strike. She is a journalist from Gaza, who has been experiencing this horrid violence for 15 weeks. 107 days. 2568 hours.
These were the images she posted, calling for this strike:

Reblog this, share this. Do not stop until every supporter of Gaza knows what we must do this week.
Free Palestine, Free Gaza, Ceasefire now!

You can do everything right and still become disabled. Disability isn't a character flaw or a personal failure which can get blamed on the people who aquire one. It can happen to literally all of us at any time. There's no fairness involved

For my first time embroidering on muslin, just wanted to give myself something to remember every day. Also as it turns out, trying to use the full size stands on muslin doesn't work out, so I decided to use two strands instead.
