the flowers in her hair are peruvian zinnias, which symbolize optimism and resilience, and lilies of the valley, which symbolize joy. also she's a moose because they're one of the most aggressive and dangerous animals in the world and idk i feel like that matches her better than the usual deer depiction

i know it's been a while, the hyperfixation faded for a while but she's back now! anyway ik this one is more boring in terms of character design than some of the others but i'm still proud of it bc i actually managed to draw a decent profile!

yes, his locket says xb on it. yes, xb will have a matching one. i just feel like it's something those two fools would do. also he has a tongue piercing because tongue piercing is my #1 keralis headcanon and i will die on that hill

i feel like it would be unfair to post this without mentioning @lunarcrown's tango design. also notice the zits necklace matches impulse's necklace bc i guess my hermit designs have continuity now

this was hard because scar changes his skin a lot, but i went with an outfit that i feel represents him the best overall, ft. a big hat with two scarland flags, magic crystal earrings, some abs, and boutonniere made of spruce, juniper, white willow, and buttercup.

[8/26] pearlescentmoon

the moth she's based on is a real australian moth, lymantria nephrographa. the bridge piercing is there to mimic how the moth has both large flashy eyespots and also the real tiny eyes. in this case the real/fake eyes are reversed but i felt like it added something idk

honestly after the struggle i had with doc, pearl was refreshingly easy and fun to draw :)

things i fixed from the last version:

the proportions (seriously, why was his head so big?)

the face prosthetic

the facial features (i particularly hated the old nose)

the horns (these horns fit way better into his overall shapes and composition imo)

i made him look fuzzier and more creepery

anyway, i can now move on with my life and draw other hermits instead of just doc for several months straight. i am free

[6/26] bdubs

the species of moss used on the cloak are syntrichia latifola and plagiomnium affine, and the clasp of the cloak is a birch branch.

i gave him two clocks to show the two roles of clocks in his story. the first, larger clock is for time keeping. the second clock is broken, to demonstrate the sentimental value that a clock can hold to bdubs. though it can't tell time, he still holds onto it.

tumblr absolutely wrecked the quality on this one rip

i went with a younger looking design bc drawing older people is hard i knew if i drew him as a middle aged man the design would stray too far into cc!impulse territory, and besides i'm a huge sucker for college era impulse with the piercings and the mohawk and all that. not much else to say about this design other than that, sorry it took me so long

[4/26] xisuma

this one was fun due to the challenge of drawing the helmet. the stickers all represent past (or current) xisuma skins, with the exception being the scream mask, which is a reference to the mask he wears to hide his face irl, and the disc, which represents his connection to music. the symbols inside his extra eyes are just his name written in the galactic alphabet and positioned throughout the eyes. i wanted to give the impression that the letters were moving or scrolling through somehow, but i think it got lost after i added the reflections on the visor
