Thinkin’ ‘bout how when my Ikkoku fixation started last year, it was from arbitrarily picking the next volume out of my reading pile and getting REALLY invested in the storyline about Mitaka & Asuna’s courtship, specifically latching onto & relating to Mitaka as a character right at a time that my brain was desperately casting around for a new hyperfixation…Yotsuya was already a fave, but if he hadn’t been played by Shigeru Chiba (the main reason I tried the anime + reinforcing the hyperfixation 10x cus I’m always prepared to obsess over Chiba) my recent relationship with the series would have played out VERY differently
