“Hey, Jim?” Sam asks. Jim can feel his apprehension and raises his brow.
“Yeah?” He responds.
Sam swallows with a minuscule nod of his head. “I love you.”
A public display of affection is rare for Sam and it genuinely touches Jim. He offers him a little smile.
But he’s still Sam’s little brother after all. “Engage.”

Concept: Sam and Erica are total space bros. They play beer pong in the ships rec room. They create elaborate pranks for one another (and Pike has to have a ‘talk’ about it with them that he struggles not to just laugh through). They read books at the same time, messaging each other through their padds once they finish a chapter so that they can talk about it and slowly make their way through ancient Earth television shows whenever they can find the time.
Sam keeps an eye out for when Erica needs to talk after being painfully reminded of the war. Erica makes sure to stop by Sam’s quarters whenever he’s been particularly quiet, knowing it’s the result of his complicated childhood and typically comes up after a call with his mom.
Sam and Erica are best friends and you can’t change my mind.
