⚠️ Hi, spoilers for the new movie The Electric State ⚠️

I am probably way late to saying this, but despite Millie being here again, and along with the technological escapism, I do hope that every robot nerd like me watching The Electric State is able to clearly see the correlation between robots and them representing minorities btw

Communities such as the LGBTQIA+, Women, people of color, folks of other religions (and many others)… all have had to fight for their rights and continue to do so by unfortunately, staying within societal norms or laws that, regardless, STILL actively try to persecute them nonetheless!

They build communities, help, and most importantly, care and protect each other when no one else does like the robots did in their haven, Blue Sky Acres, yet even that gets violated.

And remember that dialogue Mr. Peanut said to the unnamed human man?

💭 “I don’t guess you’d know what it’s like to have your very right to exist depend on a piece of paper.”

He said that because he is right to assume that a cisgender, (presumed) heterosexual, but most importantly white human man would not have to worry about things like having his rights easily stripped away from him, all because a government not deeming him “good” or “human” enough to give rights to!

I might feel EXTREMELY silly comparing real-life issues with fictional robots, but by god it seems like that’s the only way that we are able to be given at least a little bit of empathy nowadays. But despite those sentiments, I do admire this movie a lot for being able to show persistence despite oppression, a corrupt system (that be government or whatnot), and collectiveness between communities this well in my opinion, especially in times like these.

I’m rewatching Terrifier 3, simply because my girlfriend and I didn’t get to see the beginning of it and oh MY god am I glad we didn’t 😨 this stuff is even nauseating ME…

The ONLY time I love homosexuality being a taboo topic in society is when it becomes awkward for people overall to ask about one’s relationship or status when the gayness is “ambiguous”.

Because I KNOW that my father is wanting to ask me about it SO BAD but he can’t because 1.) I “don’t look gay”, so I’m sure bro can’t quite figure it out

And 2.), bc of the “gays are weird but,, I’m not homophobic” mentality 😭😭😭

He’s started to look at me all weird when I bring up my girl bff (who I’m girlfriends with too but that’s besides the point). And it’s like, broski,,, just ask, I’ll say either yes or no depending on how silly I feel, AND I’ll get a laugh out of it either ways!!!
