—HONESTLY? I’d have to pick Haniwa as my favorite guest.

He really reflects some fears of mine; leading an unfulfilling life just to make it out in the world, forgetting/not being able to care for my loved ones, & getting tired of living because of it.

So I almost find a sort of connection with his character by that. Plus, he’s a cutie, look at him!!!

Yeah… he’s definitely not the greatest, but for whatever reason I developed an attachment towards him & he turned into a comfort character…

Might be some issue I have or might just be the fact that this skrunkly old man is someone who would HAVE TO accept you into the Gregory House when you’re at your worst, (even if the only reason he accepts you in is to steal your soul), BUT we’ll never know ig☝️

i'm a day late to posting this calendar check-in note but oh my god do they NOT let us forget about dawn arrives as usual (vila's story), never too long on bluepoch's watch. i can't believe they give me yapper x listener vilasong dynamic too, merry early christmas to me!!!!!

as for vila's eternal soul, i'm repeating multiple posts already on this site but it's never not worth reiterating the significance of this symbol... rusalki/mermaids themselves don't have an "eternal soul"... that's why unlike mankind, avgust believes upon their death they turn into sea foam, unless they exchange something for an eternal soul through union with a human. In hans christian andersen's "the little mermaid", the little mermaid who wanted a soul made a deal with the sea witch to gain a pair of legs in exchange for her voice, but she must make the prince fall in love with her before his wedding day, or else she will still turn into a seam foam. unfortunately, in the end the little mermaid does fail to convey her love to the prince and dissipates back into the ocean.

vila begins her story by comparing the rusalki eternal soul to paper airplanes, how "when it flies away... it disappears." but just because you can't catch them doesn't mean you cannot make your own. like avgust's frogs, sunflowers, and polar bears – the things you fold for yourself will be there for you. but she also believes to name it doesn't give her any special protection. they have to protect themselves.

yet one or two chapters later when samodiva wants to get on vila's nerves, he specifically targets WINDSONG instead of any other comrade or children under her care in rayashki she's spent literal years with. and she physically shields windsong from danger, letting out a guttural scream in an ancient language she barely knows she's capable of. alarms are going off in my head! by protecting windsong she IS protecting the version of her ETERNAL SOUL – because in the original version of the fairy tail, love is what gives mermaids theirs. she just hasn't known it yet!!!

also by reading "the little mermaid" are the kids trying to look for vila's eternal soul through out her story. towards the end of the story though, vila, like the little mermaid, gave up something of theirs to pursue a chance at peace (for the little mermaid it was her voice and for vila it was her root and the acceptance from her kins). ultimately, vila comes to the realization that the children of rayashki is hers, the people of rayashki her eternal soul as in them rayashki's spirit is kept alive for posterity...

THEN BLUEPOCH PUNCHES ME IN THE GUT when avgust goes but your eternal soul isn't simply symbolic or invisible – how can it be nothing if i can see it, which shines as golden as the sun. JUST FOR THE CAMERA ANGLE to pan to the edge of vila's shadow to WINDSONG.

back to the daily check in note – vila sharing with windsong this rusalki legend is basically the equivalence of her searching for true love in windsong. GAY PEOPLE WILL LITERALLY TELL EACH OTHER ANYTHING BUT "I LOVE YOU." i know this is to bypass censorship but this is somehow more disgustingly adorable than if vila were to just drop on her knee and propose to windsong right here right there. My in-depth take on Sprout! (just a big ol infodump)

* His passive (Overprotective) is basically a reflection on how he treats the other toons

* He hates when the others get into arguments which means HE has to step in since he’s technically a “mediator” (he’d rather not be included in any of it, but he just wants them to stop because it’s annoying)

* The one toons usually go to when they’re having disagreements because he has a better judgement than the others in a weird way

* Gardenview had a farm built specifically for him where he grows crops and raises certain animals

* In the show, he taught kids how to care for the different types of things there and showed how hard work always paid off

* Started baking with Cosmo because he was bored and antsy from being away from his farm (became a new favorite hobby of his, opened a diner in Gardenview because of it)

* Keeps his matching charm in his room instead of wearing it because he thinks it’s too precious to bring outside

* Has a country accent, but usually masks it unless he’s really annoyed

* Has occasional back problems from working his farm a lot (Cosmo volunteered to help him with farm-work if it meant Sprout could finally take a break from it)

* “Parents” the other toons (especially toodles) even if they’re older than him, he’s just worried that they’ll get hurt when they’re doing runs (or whatever they think they’re doing gameplay wise)

* Tore up his scarf while running, but refuses to fix it (stubborn)

* Doesn’t think of his wellbeing first, only the others’ (which makes Cosmo VERY worried)

* When he catches a toon causing trouble, he scolds them while pulling their cheek (hair? whatever’s attatched to their head i have no idea)

* LOVES cooking, acts like a grandma when he hears that someone isn’t eating enough. He will stuff them with food until they have to physically run away from him

When they first saw each other, Jeff was fucking elated. In that moment, he wasn't "Jeff the Killer", a wanted man, dead or alive for a growing number of homicides, instead, he was Jeffery Woods, known teen troublemaker, eldest brother of a four person family, and a lost man who had damned himself to hell when he took out his grief and rage in the worst way possible after that night of the fire.

The man was desperate for that sense of familiarity, a sense of normalcy, of home, and there he was, just out of reach.

But for Toby, the bane of his existence was there, just within swinging distance.

And so, the proxy attacks.

Jeff would move on instinct, swinging first before he could even think.

The guilt that followed when he realised he had left a long, clean line from Toby's chest up to his shoulder still eats at him to this very day, stinging far worse than the deep cut Toby had left when he swung his axe into his side.

Jeff, crashing hard from the high he was riding only the briefest of seconds earlier, ran.

The proxy gave chase. The hooded man was in his territory, the hunting grounds of a faceless monster and those who serve it, and if there's any place Toby knew better than the back of his hand, it was these woods.

But Jeff didn't get this far, didn't get to live this long, if he wasn't a damn good escapist.

So, in the end, he had managed to get away. The odds were vastly against him, but Jeff was a survivor at heart and he had a track record for evening the odds and turning the losing hand the universe gave him into something passable.

Still, as the white-hooded killer grew the distance between him and the edge of those damned woods, confused and hurt not only by the still-bleeding wound at his side, but by the way his best friend had reacted, Jeff- sinking into his most selfish impulses- wanted that sense of normalcy, wanted to sink his teeth into the feeling of comfort he had gotten a mere taste of so badly and never let go, and if the world won't give him that, then he'll just have to carve that space himself.

And so, Jeff kept coming back.

It would take a good while until Toby warms up to Jeff again, both because of his reluctance to and because the both of them aren't exactly ones to stay in one place for too long, though Jeff is the one that makes sporadic appearances due to being- y'know- a known serial killer on the run.

Still, Toby does eventually grow closer to him. Especially when A) Jeff is a persistent asshole who won't miss a single second whenever he's around to visit Toby, even actively searching for him when he has the time to and getting into trouble as he does, and B) Toby just... can't bring himself to actually kill the other man. He's hated him for so, so long, but in every instance he had caught him off guard and attacked, Toby would stand, frozen in place before he could even finish the other man off.

The first time Toby had attacked Jeff led him to rsalise that something had happened to his best friend. Something bad, and something big. but God knows Jeff shouldn't be talking about how much someone had changed when he can barely even recognise the thing that stares back at him in the mirror.

His own hesitance annoyed the proxy to hell and back at first, but eventually Jeff's persistence and a lack of self preservation paid off, and Toby- either feeling too worn out to even bother, or was feeling particularly generous that one night- gave in just this once.

Then he gave in again when prompted at Jeff's next visit.

And again with the next.

And again.

And then one night, maybe, he's come to the realisation that he's started to miss the pale, deformed rat of a man who seems to know Toby better than even he himself does, to miss the ghost that had been haunting him all this time.

okay i’ve yapped about other previous general headcanons but this has gotta be devoted to the teen parents cherrycola au that lives in my head CHRONICALLY

first of all like hidden love cherrycola 🤭 like they know her parents would probably kick her out and she’d lose her social status and even the greasers would be a bit taken aback so they don’t tell anyone and have their own little secret dates. sneaking into each others houses, longing glances, holding hands when no one is around, all the hidden relationships tropes my beloved.

cherry finding out she’s pregnant and just like freaking the FUCK out, they haven’t even told anyone about them yet and now they’ve got this to deal with, soda is also freaking the fuck out but like semi holding it together, at least til he gets home and lock himself in the bathroom and breakdown. eventually cherrys parents find out and kick her out so she shows up at the curtis’s doorstep to find darry at the door (who doesn’t even know she’s dating soda) and just breaks down so darry yknow lets her in and soda comes running in soon after. they have to tell darry and dude is just SHOCKED like 🧍‍♂️he doesn’t know how to react but ofc says she can stay in the extra bedroom. later on tho he talks to soda and is like dude. you cannot have a baby you do not have the money you’ve gotta figure this out (this turns into a massive argument but that’s another post tbh)

pony is NAWT happy simply bc he is like wowwwwww soda stole the girl who liked me (even tho she never liked him, pony was just in denial that he was in love with his best friend and needed a win okay) and was a little salty 14 year old abt it as yknow a teen boy is. he is also upset cause he’s like ummmm no soda is MY best friend, don’t act like you know him better cause once again pony is a salty 14 year old.

A large majority to that reason, though, is that now that my dad's back from his trip to North Carolina I'm probably gonna be excessively summoned by my parents for basically ANYTHING 😭🙏 BUT!!

Specifically, I can't decide many things about 61, especially the direction its art is to take. I want to eventually dub Ask Site-61, but I would like to fully color it when dubbed!! So essentially, I've reached a deadlock where I have to either continue the traditional art path to speedily get through asks, or fully illustrate the page for a consistent artflow. (I'll probably do the former; that way I can still CHOOSE which asks are worth coloring, since, not to be rude but I don't think EVERY ask needs to be colored, as proven by the fact that some asks just.. don't have accompanying art. Yeah.)

Also i forgot to ask in my last ask. In the moze fics, does jiaoqiu have ulterior motives? Or is he just a best friend who cares? I found it noticeable how moze always got jealous at the mention/appearance of Jiaoqiu. And how Jiaoqiu was insistent on saying Moze didnt have a chance. It might be him just teasing moze because hes aware of how Moze is.

I mean, Moze also got aggravated when he found out the protag was sleeping around. And when the earth man was flirting, he didnt have time to get jealous because they were both busy trying to survive and escape. And he was more protective rather than possessive there.

SWAN ANONNNNNN HEYY (appreciate the smaller detail remembrance)

Ok so to fully answer the questions I'm going to split the premise into three. I'm gonna YAP while skirting around the topic (also so I can talk about their characters because DAMN they're interesting)

Reader: forcibly put into the proximity of Moze (plot convenience) (and also somewhat necessity for his work) after being kicked from the Intelligenstia Guild. This innate frustration of zero control, coupled with Moze's prickliness and mc's own standoffishness = colleagues with the sole benefit of hating each other and making it publicly known, while naturally gravitating to people who are the social opposite to their frustrating partner (aka Jiaoqiu and Zhi Hua, who's just some side character for the Shadow Guard since there's no actual info on them lmao)

Moze: from the lore, and tb quest, there's several points of information about him. He's known not to talk much, work alone, and make somewhat awkward jokes where the situation does not warrant it. He does "not wish to speak", which is also understandable as an occupational thing. Obviously there's bound to be huge reductions of his character to those three points but I digress.

Now, being put into forced proximity with someone he believes is irresponsible and a hindrance is something new. If he doesn't like someone, he avoids them, or in the worst case scenario he... takes care of them. That's his job, so no hard feelings. However, he's basically not got any option, because he's Feixiao's subordinate, to essentially 'babysit' (in his opinion). He's also not used to being close emotionally/and somewhat physically with people, case in point being his job and stint in prison. NOW bickering and arguing with someone every few days for a prolonged length of time is possibly some of the most ordinary shit he's been through. You're not trying to kill him. You're not scared of him. Yeah, you dislike him (strongly) and he dislikes you (strongly) too, but you're proving your capabilities and you dislike him personally rather than through hearsay.

Anyways, outside the job he avoids you like the plague, but inside there's bound to be far more complex emotions the more he spends time with you and the more he realises he was mistaken about your ability (but not about your shit personality). But again, not a lot of experience in dealing with emotions, so pestering you is basically him succumbing to you being a somewhat alright person rather than someone he keeps at arm's length. Or at least, he trusts your abilities (somewhat) but still holds zero expectations of you (or at least he thinks that) and still dislikes you

Jiaoqiu: remember social opposites? Honestly I don't think Moze was jealous of Jiaoqiu specifically but rather anyone who's publicly close to you (case in point A-hua), because this man is lowkey starved for affection. Like where in his job and life does he experience that? And I did purposefully write in diminutives for this man (xiaoze, a-ze) in a sarcastic way, which just makes this man's eye twitch since you have no problem being affectionate with his colleagues, not just stopping at civil. Like purposefully showing off your closeness is one thing but just slipping in a-hua or jiaoqiu's name casually is what really gets him - like your subconscious just has these two in an affectionate bubble in your mind and he's just glaring lmao.

I believe he's got a somewhat competitive side, especially due to his alleged nature to be tidy and clean. Like, he's meticulous, and he's already proved himself to you and you to him. Why are his colleagues better than him? He dislikes you even more for that lmao because he's subconsciously feeling closeness as a side effect of harmless bickering, because he has to pay attention to you in order to best find information to irritate you with

Except, a lot of his information stems around your relationships (case in point fake rumor with zhi hua in like the first fic for him)!! which he does not have (a lot of relationships) !!!!

Anyways Jiaoqiu's heard a lot of your complaints and honestly thinks it's funny as hell, like we've got his friend who's clearly going to need a while to grapple with his feelings while denying them, and then we've got the guy who just dislikes his friend. Honestly I wrote him as someone who just wanted to speed up the process, while also just being incredulous while thinking of your complaints. Because you complainnnn. Chaos inducing best friend

But a best friend who would NOT mind hitting 🙏. Ulterior motives yes, but also he does want his new friend to heal, hence the dissuading; because he's also never heard you say anything particularly good about the man, and vice versa. like ??? some people just do NOT like each other so he might as well take his chance instead lmao

Anyways I find it funny you mentioned the Earth guy bc I know damn well that knife Moze threw felt extra cathartic. Like the issue resolved itself: you fought him off with disgust, didn't suddenly become emotionally close, and he became a cadaver in the end - and once they're dead, Moze moves on. Thus, he just felt irritated this guy tried something without actually knowing why it felt refreshing to perform his occupation. The sleeping around thing is something else because it requires willing proximity (and you could've just chosen him smh).

side effect of competitiveness. Like based on his design and lore it's pretty obvious he's high up in the Shadow Guards, and perhaps one of their best assassins. He's polished his craft, but you evidently don't care about that. So being in even more forced proximity (apartment) is also forcing him to unfurl the tight bundle of annoyance to see exactly what it is. cue that whiskey scene (my favourite, because the desperation is a result of him feeling that inferiority hit)

tl;dr - yes Jiaoqiu's got ulterior motives but also sincerely believes it may be quite hard for moze to make his affections known (considering his reclusivity and emotional short-sightedness); also it's just funny as hell to poke fun at people in general and moze's a satisfying target

Moze's just jealous, because you're close to everyone but him (perceived). and you're just sarcastically calling him diminutives and ugh that's just something that lingers in his heart regardless.
