Summary:

Pulling the strap of the camera over his head, Bucky turned it off, then gripped it carefully in his left hand. He let his head rest back against the brick of the building. Eyes closed, he imagined the breath crystalizing in front of him until his heart rate slowed back to barely normal. On what felt like the hundredth rep his mind clicked over to the sound of an exhale; while the heady smell of smoke and… something else, something that took him back to memories of fields of wild flowers mixed with that first summer rain - the one that washed away Spring and brought about Summer’s sweet tinge of heat, a strange combination to be sure, curling into the night air, and the overall presence of another form that a former Army sniper shouldn’t have missed, and absolutely couldn’t ignore. Without turning his head he looked over, only to see the outline of broad shoulders expanding with their inhale, a head tilting back, and a cloud of smoke filling the air. Good ‘ol boy Captain America smoking a Marlboro. Plot-fucking-twist. “I guess I can’t say ‘those things’ll kill ya’ in this instance.” One day his mouth was going to get him in trouble.
