what a night..

summary: john was exhausted after his latest exorcism so as he got home, he quickly went to his shared bedroom while his partners were sitting on the couch. after a while, lisa and [reader] decided to surprise him with cuddles and kisses.

pairing: gn! reader x john x lisa (polyamorous!!)

warnings/heads up: this is set months after the third chapter. nothing, really. just fluff and john being a blushing mess.

11:54 pm on a friday. john sighed as he looked up from his watch, ‘friday nights used to be movie nights..’ he thought to himself. he walked up to the doorway of john's house, which he shared with his two partners, [reader] and lisa. he reached in his pockets to grab the key and started to fumble with it before putting it in the keyhole and unlocking the door. one step in and he saw [reader] and lisa cuddled up on the couch as they watched tv with the lights off, “hey, john. how's your day?” [reader] asked, their eyes not leaving the television screen. “horrible.” john mumbled as he dragged his legs to the shared bedroom. “i'm going to take a bath..”

as the bedroom door shut behind john, [reader] looked up at lisa's face as they lay their head on her lap. “lisa, i think we need to do something with john.” “about what?” “well, he just looks tired these few days. he keeps talking about these nightmares about the failed exorcism.. i'm worried.” lisa paused as she thought about what to do, then smiled. “why don't we just cuddle, the three of us, like the old days.” [reader] smiled at the thought of them cuddling again after months, and nodded their head.

after a long, warm bath, john got dressed up in his pajamas and slipped his bunny slippers on. he walked out of the bathroom and saw lisa and [reader] all cozy on their bed, john just tilted his head at the two of them. “i thought you two wanted to finish your movie night..?” “nah, the movies were pretty boring.” lisa said with a soft smirk on her face as [reader] patted the spot on the bed in between the two of them with their hand, signaling john to sit with them. john sighed as he walked over to his lovers, snuggling in between them. “i can tell something is off, you two are awfully smiley tonight..” john smiled as he looked to his left and right to see his lovers’ smiles. “and you started to smile too, what a coincidence.” [reader] said with a sarcastic undertone making the three of them laugh.

the three lovers snuggled and cuddled each other with content smiles on their faces. after a few minutes, lisa planted a kiss on john's cheek, making his face quite flushed. [reader] gasped playfully as they put a hand over their mouth, “john, are you blushingg??” they chuckle together before [reader] kisses john's nose unexpectedly, making his blush grow more red. “you two are spoiling me..” “get ready, cus’ we just started.” lisa smiled sneakily before peppering kisses all over john's face. “hey, don't forget about me..” [reader] joined in on kissing all over john's face, his face is practically as red as a freshly picked cherry.

the sun shows itself as the alarm clock sings its beautiful notes. 

ding ding ding

you quickly wake up, not wanting master wu to go inside your room and barge down your door.. again. you got ready, went in the kitchen to grab your mug and get your desired beverage, and you made your way to the ninja's room as you stretched. you knock on their door and you open it. 

"morning guys. you know what to do." you sip from your mug as you look at them tiredly until you notice something. they were even.. lazier than any other day. they basically look like jellyfish? of course, except for zane. he was normal but he also noticed what you were thinking about.

you look at them with an eyebrow raised, "alright guys, what is going on? you guys feel alright? i can just tell master wu for you to not train today." jay clinged on the fabric of your outfit and shook you lightly "MY WHOLE BODY IS ON FIRE" jay screamed, receiving a few nods in agreement. 

"jay, let go of me! i'll get sick too!" you said as you took a few steps back and bump into someone behind you, it was nya. "it looks like the ninja has gotten sick." nya said as everyone looked at her weirdly, "wha- what do you mean by that, nya? we were healthy and strong yesterday!" lloyd asked, his voice sore. 

"doesn't mean you can't get sick, kid!" nya smiles. "also, master wu had to go somewhere for a few days. maybe just.. two and a half days." nya announced. "that means we have to take care of these goofballs on our own?" you asked her, knowing full well the answer is yes. and of course, she nodded as everyone groaned. 

after a few hours, it was dinner. you and zane had to prepare it, you thought of making something warm and.. and "soupy". he agreed and you two decided to make miso soup. zane called everyone to eat as you finished preparing the table. everyone enjoyed it! 

when zane and nya tell them to go to sleep, you were in your room. and you tried to sleep until a knock on your door could be heard.

"come in." you said as you sat up from your bed. the door creaks open and it showed zane and nya, they brought sleeping bags. "oh, hey guys. what's up?" you asked them with a smile on your face.

"can we sleep with you? i'm sooo tireddd.." nya sighed loudly, being very exhausted after taking care of the ninja today. "this day has been really tiring for us all. why don't we spend time with each other without the ninja?" zane explained as he laid down his sleeping bag. "yeah why not?" you answered them as you lay down on your bed as you stared at the ceiling. 

they both get ready and say their goodnights and sleep tights. you saw them sleeping soundlessly, you sigh as you close your eyes. drifting to your sleep.

ah, yes, the wind in your hair while you rest your hands on the bounty railing. you were spacing out until nya broke the silence, "oh, they should be back now.." you look towards nya and master wu's direction, realizing who she's talking about. 

"oh, i fear something terrible has happened to them." master wu said as he turned to you and lloyd "[reader], lloyd," before he finished, lloyd gasped before quickly switching his comic book to a lesson book and you straightened up your back. "you two are in charge of the bounty while nya and i have a look around town." you two look at each other then look at master wu to answer "yup, yeah, okay, sure." is what came out of each other's mouth.

as master wu and nya started to walk away, lloyd pulls out his friz donogan comic book "okay, fritz donogan, i guess its just you, me, [reader], and the imperial sludge" you look towards him and ruffle his hair "you're so adorable, you know that?" you chuckled as lloyd furrowed his eyebrows and pouted in annoyance.

after a few hours, you two were hanging out playing video games, a phone rang and you two looked at each other with a "you do it" expression. after a few seconds of being tired of the sound of the phone ringing, you picked it up and put it on speaker so that the two of you could hear. 

"hellooo-? destiny's bounty, [reader] speaki-"

"[reader]!? it's jay!! can you bring sensei here?"

oh, cool its one of the people that master wu and nya are supposed to find. you and lloyd looked at each other with shock and curiosity. 

"uhm.. sensei and nya are actually trying to find.. you guys. where are you guys anyways? what are you doing?"

lloyd replied while still playing with the console. 

"apparently, you need parental permission to take the bus and we can't seem to get out of the city!"

jay groaned through the phone. 

"uhm.. excuse me?"

you said as you try to register what he just said.

"never mind.. its a bit complicated, just meet us at buddy's pizza in, like, ten minutes. oh, and bring our weapons!"

jay said as he hung up the phone. 

"weapons?" 

you and lloyd said in sync, lloyd falling off his chair at the same time. "but.. we have to look after the bounty?" lloyd look towards you, waiting for your answer "we need to get to them! what if they're in danger!?" you said as you went to get the weapons "you're worrying like a parent again, [reader]" lloyd said, following you from behind.

you two stand in front of the pizza place, looking in disbelief and curiosity, you two went in. 

looking around to find the ninja, you thought that they would be at the counter. on the way there you two heard someone whispering to the two of you. 

"psstt.. [reader], lloyd!" you guys turned around and saw four kids sitting together. 

"beat it, brat. we're on a mission." lloyd said as he tried to turn around and look for the others, until you looked at lloyd while crossing your arms. "lloyd, apologize to that young man right n-" "no! guys, its kai!" 

your guys' jaws were on the floor. you guys look again and see that.. it is them! seeing that, you two gasped and lloyd dropped the weapons on the table. 

"hey.. our weapo-" "woah! what happened!? you're! uh.. uh.. small!!" lloyd shouted, cutting you off and making other people look towards us. "keep it down. we're trying to lay low." kai whispered

"your father's mega weapon not only turned us into kids, but unleashed a creature whose sole purpose is to hunt down ninja." kai continued to talk, "typical garmadon!" cole said. 

"now, everytime we try to tell someone, they won't believe us.. cause we're kids!" jay said as you pick up their weapons. after hearing what jay said, lloyd laughed. "lloyd, why are you laughing? your brothers are in danger, you know?" you scolded and they all stopped to look at you with a surprised look on their face. 

"brothers..?" zane said as he tilted his head, "come on! you guys just act like brothers together!" you said as you hugged them and ruffled all their hair. "hey! let go!" all of the kids, except zane and cole, say as they struggle to get out of your embrace. 

"haha! i thought today i was gonna babysit one kid, guess fate had something up her sleeve!" you exclaimed as you let them go, "argh! let's just get this over with!" jay huffed and crossed his arms. 

"i'm gonna be a big brother.." you muttered under your breath "we can hear you!" they all said in sync, sounding quite annoyed. 

this is the best day of my life!!

"oh? bloberta? what's up?" you asked, why was she calling at such a late hour? "well, uhm, i need a little favor.. from neighbor to neighbor?" she replied. hm. alright then.

you opened your eyes and looked at the clock on your bedside stool, it was eight am. oops. you slowly collect yourself and then you get yourself ready. you go down to have breakfast, you still have time, three hours actually. so you just chill in your home and wait for it to be eleven am. 

after a few hours, it was exactly eleven am!! you went outside and locked the door, taking your keys with you. you head straight to the puppington household, which was, right beside yours. 

you saw bloberta, clay, shapey, and..! wait, orel's not here? you look around, trying to find him. until clay notices you, "ah, welcome to our house. i hope it's okay for you to take care of our kids and this ol' place!" he said laughing lightly at his joke, "yeah.. good morning clay, bloberta, and shapey! where's orel?" i asked the parents while shapey was running around. "oh, he's at the park today. i think he was playing with a friend?" bloberta responded. "ah, alright, i'll keep that in mind!" you said with a soft smile on your face. 

"alright, we've got to get going now. see you later tonight, alright?" clay said as he and bloberta went inside the car. you looked at shapey with a bright smile. "alright, shapey! let's go in-" you got caught off by a group of kids running from a.. racoon? you look at the group in absolute terror and you see orel was the kid leading the group.

"hey, minty? it's getting pretty late. we should go back." lloyd said as he put a hand on your shoulder. "yeah, this was a pretty slow day. come on! let's go!" you said as you took his hand and started to make your way to the monastery. after a few minutes of walking and a few random conversations, rain clouds started to form.

"huh, rain clouds are starting to form too.. let's go faster! don't want anyone to be worried!" lloyd stated as he gently squeezed your hand. now walking faster, you guys started to manifest to be at the monastery before the rain started. during your way, you both heard noises from behind some trees. you and lloyd looked at each other with a worried expression, and you both went into a battle stance. "what do you think those sounds are from?" you whispered into your lover's ear, "i have no clue.. just be ready." lloyd whispered back. you guys looked all around, seeing that nothing will probably come out, you guys calmed down. "huh, maybe it was just a-" you said as lloyd's voice cut you off, "[reader]! behind you!" you whipped your head to see a stone warrior behind you, swinging its sword. you quickly duck right before it hits you, and you hit its legs with yours, causing it to fall down. "lloyd! look!" you said pointing towards the group of stone warriors on their way to get the both of you. "i don't think we can do this alone! let's go home!" you explained towards your lover, but, because he is a child in a teen's body, he replied "no! we can do this! i believe.. no! i know we can!" he said as he started shooting green energy towards the stone warriors. "lloyd, you know that won't work! let's go home." you started to sound a bit annoyed at his ignorance, but lloyd still wouldn't listen.

the stone warriors are starting to attack the two of you, because you didn't want to leave lloyd alone, you fought back. raindrops started to fall and you could hear some thunder. you could make a portal to a void but that could take all of your energy. but you don't want lloyd to die, right? so you tried to make a portal, it wasn't too big but it's just enough for the stone warriors to fit in it. you felt weak in yours knees and you felt like you could pass out in a few seconds. "[reader]!" lloyd exclaimed as looked at you in fear. "lloyd… just.. just lure them in..!" you said as you breathe heavily. and lloyd quickly obliged. he pushed and pushed the stone warriors in the portal, until they were all gone.

that's what you both thought.

"heh.. hah! we did it, dear!" lloyd said as he hugged you tightly, his warm embrace, his voice, it makes you melt. "yeah but, don't be so.. sure next time! like, we couldn't have done that if.. i dunno! just, be careful next time." you said as you hugged him back, snuggling into the crook of his neck. after a while, you guys eventually let go."come on, love. let's go home." you said as you took his hand and cupped his cheek, which he leaned in your touch. it was cold in the rain. as you left your focus on lloyd to look at your surroundings, you saw a stone warrior.

it seemed to point their crossbow at lloyd and it was about to pull the trigger. your eyes widened and your warm expression is replaced with a shocked and worried one. "lloyd! watch out!" without thinking, you went in front of the stone warrior.

and you took the shot.

before you could even react, lloyd quickly pushed the stone warrior into the portal behind it. you looked down and saw you were shot in the stomach. and then you could actually feel the pain. you grunted and fell to your knees, then on all fours, then just, laying on the mud. "no.. no, no, no, no, no!" lloyd shouted as he went straight to your body. he held your head on his hand and he held your hand with the other, squeezing it. he put your hand on his face and tears started to form, "you can't..! you.. can't leave me too… please.. we still have time to go to the monastery! please stay with me!" he said as he leaned into your touch. "i… i don't think.. we have that much time... love." you said as you closed your eyes, tears falling down your face. seeing this makes his heart break, but seeing your warm smile still on your face as you gently hold his cheek makes his heart break into more pieces than before. "no! you can't leave me! i-" "do you remember.. the locket… you gave me..?" you cut him off with your weak voice as you look at him with loving eyes. lloyd squeezes your hand even tightly, waterfalls of his tears falling down his face. he nodded weakly as he sobbed heavily remembering the first time he met you.

it was a normal day for lloyd, he sneaked out to go to the comic store, doomsday comix. when he opened the door, he saw you in front of his face. you guys were pretty close to each other, you wanting to push the door while lloyd pulled the door first. "oh, uhm.. sorry." you said as a bright red blush creeped on your face, "no, no. it's okay!" he said while he saw the comic you had in your hand. "is that the new starfarer comic?! is.. it already sold out..?" lloyd gasped as he went in the comic store. "uh.. yeah, this is the new one. and i think it is sold out? i actually got this for free. i won a competition on fifth place, and they gave me a free comic coupon. i didn't really have any interest in the comics here.." you said as you started to ponder a bit. "you know what? here." you said as you give the comic book to him. lloyd looked at you with stars in his eyes and he took the comic book. "wow! my name's lloyd by the way! thank you so much!" he said as he hugged the comic tightly. "hi, lloyd! i'm [reader]! wanna be friends?" you chuckled lightly. and of course, he said yes.

after two months of being best friends, lloyd gave you a heart locket. inside, it has a picture of you and him having a fun time. one night, you went to doomsday comix to give lloyd a present in return. but instead you got into a pretty big mess involving the grundal, some.. tea making you older. it was an interesting night, but i guess you have to sacrifice some stuff to save the city. ever since then, you and lloyd had some.. connections. and after a few months, you guys came together. being "the cutest boyfriends ever" according to nya. and here you are now, bleeding in his arms.

"lloyd.." you called his name softly, "yes, sweetheart?" he replied as he calmed down from his sobs. "i'm really happy to be here with you.. thank you." you started to lose your breath, your vision started to blur. lloyd stroked your hair as he looked at you dearly with tears in his eyes, "thank you too, [reader]. i'm happy you came into my life.. goodnight, minty." you closed your eyes as the rain stopped.

ah, yes. summer. the only time where school doesn't matter anymore and you can just rest. despite the sun being really hot, you decided to go to the park.

during the walk to the park, you saw your friends. orel, doughy, tommy, and.. what was his name again? oh, well. doughy was the first to notice you, "hey, buddy! where are you going?" he asked as he waved and walked towards you. "i'm going to the park! you guys coming?" you replied and everyone said "yes", looking very excited to go with you.

when you guys arrived there, you all decided to play hide and seek. " okay! the last one to touch their nose.. becomes… it!" tommy said as everyone quickly touched their nose, but it seems that you were a little too late. "alright! you're it! now close your eyes and count from one to twenty while we hide!" orel exclaimed, telling you the basic rules to the game. and so, you close your eyes and lean against a tree while counting. "one, two, three-"

after a few numbers, you screamed "ready or not! here i come!" before you even started to look for them, you could hear laughter from behind the tree you leaned on. you took a peak to see doughy and.. uh.. him! so you creeped behind them and hug them from behind. "found you two! now, you have to help me find orel and tommy!" doughy and him were surprised, "how'd you even find us?" him asked as you let go of them both. "well, i just believe in myself and pray!" you replied. "woah.." they both said in union. to you, you sound like a normal kid but in their eyes, you are like a hero!

so you told everyone to split up. and by "split up" i mean doughy and him are together while you are alone. during your search for orel and tommy, you found someone else. you saw a boy with black hair burning ants with a magnifying glass. and you took that personally.

"hey, i dont think you should be doing that." you said towards the boy, while you were walking his way "and why do you care?" he replied. "well, it's because those ants didn't bite you, right? you shouldn't hurt other creatures because they didn't do anything to you!" you explained, now being beside him. "... nyeh!" he said as he stuck his tongue out at you. "was that a 'yes, i swear to never do that again'? oh, well! my name's [reader]! what about you?" you asked the boy as he put tongue back in his mouth.

"joe." he said in a harsh voice. "hi joe! wanna be friends?" you asked, offering your hand to make a "friendship handshake". joe was a little taken aback but he replied with a scoff, "wh- you wanna be friends, with me?" and you answered "yeah, so..??" "... pfftt! fine!" he said as he shook your hand.

okay, so now for the headcanons!

• after a few days or even weeks of you guys first meeting, he would already be clingy. because, come on. he has never felt.. this kind of kindness from a friend before. instant besties.

• and because of that, he would vent to you. a lot. and ofc you would listen!

• if you have some hobbies that involves making stuff and you give the stuff to him (like, for example, a drawing or food or anything like that) he would freak! but he wouldn't show it.

• he would collect some flowers and cool rocks for you in return.

• he thinks of you like, a younger sibling for him to protect. (but if you are older/more mature than him, hundred percent bigger sibling)

you are a normal kid. lived in a normal neighborhood, laughed with normal friends, got normal grades, everything about you is normal. that's what you thought. one day, your parent decided to move and stay at their partner's in moralton. you were somewhat against the idea, but you wanted to see your parents together again. so you said "fine".

after a few days there, your parents decided to let you go to moralton's school. you felt really bad in the stomach, but you said yes anyway. 'i guess it is time to meet new friends' you thought to yourself.

the very next day was your first day of school. you looked at the school outside of your parent's vehicle while they told you their goodbyes. "Alright, here we are, cupcake! stay safe, okay? i love you!" they said as they hugged you tight, in response you said "ah! i won't go anywhere except inside my class if you let go, you know!" you said while chuckling softly. "goodbye!" you waved to your parent as they waved back at you, you started to make your way inside the school until you bumped into someone.

"ah!?" they yelped. "oh my gosh! i'm so so so sorry!!" you said as you lend a hand to help them get up. they had blonde hair, big black eyes, and some freckles decorated their face. "oh, thank you.. are you new here?" they said as they took your hand to help them get up. "uhm.. yeah. you've heard?" you asked them as they brush the dirt off their clothes, "oh! you! yeah, i remember what my teacher said about you the other day. my name's tommy by the way." he held out a hand to shake with yours, and so you did. after a few days, you guys became very close friends. you guys learn together, eat together, draw together, play together.. you guys do everything together!

until one day…

tommy went to your house to see you. he knocked on the door to your house, thinking of seeing you on the other side but instead got greeted by your parent. "oh, hello, tommy! i'm afraid our little cupcake isn't at home right now! we thought they were with you.." your parent pondered while tommy replied, "oh, why's that? where do you think they are? i'll help find them!" tommy said his goodbyes as he rushed to go find you.

after a few hours, he started to give up. orel, doughy, "him", and joe were also trying to find you! he went everywhere and he asked everyone, but nothing. "where were they?" he thought to himself. the afternoon started to become night. he went to the park and sat under a tree, right beside a pond and a bench. right there, he heard crying. he quickly turned the way where the crying was coming from, and there you were. the moonlight shone bright on you, making your tears look like diamonds, and your eyes look like gemstones. "hey.. there you are…" he said softly, taking off his helmet, and making his way to you.

he was really relieved he found you, not because he promised your parents to bring you home. no. he was relieved because you are his best friend. you are his sibling. you are his other half! he sat beside you on the bench, looking down at the grass. waiting for one of you to break the silence as you were sobbing softly. your sobs started to calm down.

"you know.. orel, doughy, and the others are looking for you too you know?" he said as he looked at you with a sweet smile, trying to lighten up the mood. you looked at him with glossy eyes and a shocked expression on your face. "they.. they are?" your voice cracking from the crying. "haha.. yeah. they're still looking for you, because i haven't told them you are here with me!" he chuckled softly.

his expression of relief turned into one of worry. "why.. were you crying? if you wanna talk to someone, im here! i won't tell anyone, honest!" he said as he put a hand on his chest with a comforting smile on his face. "i.. i don't know why i'm crying, tommy…" you said while looking down at the pond. "huh? you don't know? how's that??" he said as he put a finger on his chin while he pondered. he then stopped as he realized you looked even down as he said that, then something clicked.

tommy has got an idea.

"you know what? don't mind that! you don't need any excuse to do something! well, except illegal stuff… but, that's beside the point!" he said as he smiled brightly at you. the air became silent. but it wasn't an awkward silence, it was comforting.

"i'm really happy to be your best friend."

tommy suddenly broke the silence, you whipped your head to look at him. it went silent again after a few minutes. "you are very, very, very special. everyone would be happy to be with you. to spend time with you. even if it's just a few seconds or if it's just.. sitting on a bench, looking at the stars." he said as he slowly looked at you. "tommy…" is what you said before you pull him into a tight hug. he hugs you back and you start squeezing him while laughing.

"ah! you're gonna turn me into tommy juice, you goofball!" tommy exclaimed in between his laughter. you loosened up your hugs so he could breathe. you two stayed like that for a long time until you two heard someone say "ooooohhhhh".

you two quickly let go of each other and looked at the person making that noise, it was joe. "looks like tommy has a crush! i'm going to tell orel and the others!" joe said as he pointed at the two of you. "wh- hey! no i do not! don't tell them!" tommy screamed at him while his face was bright red. what a night…
