Tbh I think if it weren't for walburga & the black family values & all, regulus would have been in hufflepuff.

Because in my personal opinion your house is based on your values and in the books the first word that sirius describes regulus is soft. Now this could have been an insult to regulus but in the context it was used, sirius was describing regulus as vulnerable & fragile which can often be associated with hufflepuff.

In alou if fanfics we see regulus value hardwork and is loyal to the people he cares about which is also hufflepuff qualities. Now this isn't me saying that regulus is an absolute sweetheart because he definitely can come off as cold but in my opinion not all hufflepuff are nice or absolute sweethearts, they're flawed like everyone else
