Little known fact about me despite being absolutely insane about undertale for 10 years now and being a massive massive fan of it

i actually never played it lmao

Only last night did i ever actually beat the game lmao

and yeah. theres a reason this game is so so important to so many people, and why its been important to me as someone who never even played it. even if the game didnt have pacifist and genocide this game is just absolutely beautiful

First time Kris ripped out the SOUL

This started out as me imagining in my head that Kris sounds like josh keaton, and i think the scene in spectacular spider-man where he rips out the symbiote is a really good example of that because it shows josh playing the exact same voice and sounding like 2 different people by just tone (as opposed to doing 2 different voices which he certainly can do too)

I think also the way the symbiote influenced peters thoughts by not being a second voice in his head but rather being his own voice with the symbiote's will imposed on it is a really interesting way of thinking about the soul. Less like actual puppet strings and more like vague and fuzzy, hard to draw the line for Kris themselves on what actions are their own and what are the soul's will. At least towards the beginning of the story

While im here ill add some context for this drawing, Lu'lu's girlfriend is called Shahd. The name means honeycomb in arabic, but a more common use for the word as something thats not a name is the arabic word for honeydew. So i'll let you infer what eating the fruit is supposed to symbolize

ngl not happy with this drawing at all it didnt come out how i wanted it to at aaaaall but oh well

The HEV suit is an interesting voice to me because its supposed to be friendly yk its with you the whole series and its always protecting gordon. But at the same time you only ever hear this suit when its telling you that youre FUCKED lmao. Its voice has become associated to me with getting hurt

One voiceline i think we've all heard the most (unless i just suck at the game) is "warning, vital signs critical." I can't imagine what it must be like being gordon in black mesa, always getting attacked and hearing that damn voice, finding medkits and health stations to get back up again, only to be beat down again. The only thing consistent in black mesa is gordon's constant beating and the morphine being administered so he can take more punishment

I N T E R L O P E R

Always had a bit of a fascination for Half-Life, even as a kid and all i knew of it was "the game that kinda reminds me of tf2 and g-mod"

Very recently I finally got around to playing it and to noones surprise greatly loved. This game and its sequels really earned the reputation they built up

Gordon despite being literally a nothing character really does resonate with you as you play. Interloper.. you really do feel like one. Especially in Xen, but not exclusively. Freeman is a very hated figure between the Nihilanth's army and the HECU and as he fights more and more to barely survive he becomes each factions number 1 target to be eliminated. Everything everywhere youre going hates you and wants you killed

Again this is most effective in Xen where youre not just in the enemy's turf, but their entire homeworld. Islands full of angry grunts that fall from the sky, factories full of vortiguant, underground caves packed with barnacles, the lair of the gonarch, and of course the actual chapter with the name, where you make your way through a whole factory full of vortigaunts
