He could see your wallet in the basket hanging off the bike you had rolled all the way here to his repair shop - for cars, might he add - and a bell he was already itching to use purely to drive Mydei the back nuts. Yeah, he could work with this, and it was just a broken chain.

"I need this to get to work is all, and there's no bike repair shops in walking distance." As you explained, Phainon nodded along. "I just need this to last until my next few paychecks so I can get a new bike. I'll pay whatever you ask."

And that's when his nodding stopped. "Pay?"

He was almost tempted to laugh again as Phainon successfully wrestled the bike from your grasp to let it rest against the counter he had been sitting at using as a footrest) when you had walked in. "This is a repair shop for cars, not bikes. I can't take a request like this without it looking odd in the paperwork. I'll just do it for free."

He fell asleep even before they left the parking lot. All the buzz from the people and cars leaving the airport, all the lights illuminating the area as if it was still daytime didn’t bother him.

The moment he sank into the passenger seat, loosened his tie and placed his hat in his lap, his shoulders relaxed and his eyes closed.

Lina smiled, watched him out of the corner of her eye. For all the excitement he always showed through countless texts and phone calls, especially during those long, arduous hours before seeing each other again, he never lasted long once the exhaustion crept up on him.

It’s been a few long days and nights for him. He deserved his rest. And as much as she wanted to catch up, to hear his voice and see his smile as he told her everything about the flights and work he’s done in the time they couldn’t be with each other, she could wait for a little longer.

The ride home was over an hour long. Lina would get him home safely and then catch up on all the things she wanted to say and do with him as soon as he felt rested and refreshed.

Though, the joy and excitement to finally have him here next to her - with her - again, kept the smile on her face the entire ride home.

My favorite Phainon voiceline

It's so raw and emotional, we never heard him raise his voice like that, so riddled with the anger and frustration that has built up for over 33 million cycles, and mere moments before he's allowed to let go, to finally unleash all that fury and hatred.

I adore his little laugh, his soft voice, my heart breaks when he's talking about Aglaea passing the torch to him in 3.3 or how heavy his voice gets throughout 3.4, but something about this line and this delivery just hits differently.
