When Only Peace Remains

I mentioned the farm before, but in my selfship's lore Phainon and I are gonna leave Okhema after the story. I purchased a farmhouse close to a remote village that hasn't been destroyed by the Black Tide but is in desperate need of repair.

At the end of it all, once the cycles are broken and everyone is free to live their lives, the people of this village returned, but as busy as they were with their own homes no one had the time nor the will to take on the farmhouse. So they sold it for basically nothing.

I purchased it and handed my pottery shop to my apprentice. It's still legally mine but I handed over responsibility for it to someone I trust. and started the repairs on my own while Phainon still had duties to fulfill in the city.

Once he was done I - nervous and anxious because this was a big step - brought him here to surprise him. Luckily, he liked it. Loved it even. The wheat fields surrounding the area reminded him of home and the remoteness of it all was so calming too.

Since then we've been working on repairing the house and tending to the fields surrounding the place. There's only so much we can do by ourselves, so we do little actual farming. Just enough to be self-sufficient eventually(until then trips to the village and even Okhema are needed regularly).

Also, Phainon adores his chickens. He's the one tending to them. He even gave all of them names.

And yeah, that's where we live and spend our days after the story ♡

Will I ever stop yapping about the Flame Reaver?

A little thought about the Flame Reaver

Also small recap of how he used to be in 3.1

Since we know the Flame Reaver's actual name is "Dawn-denied Khaslana"...

Therefore, it seems likely that the Flame Reaver never saw the dawn of a new cycle.

He always disappears before that. Either because he gets defeated or because he's merging with Phainon or something of the sorts before the new dawn arrives.

... and we know that Phainon(or rather, Khaslana) went through a ridiculous amount of cycles...

That means the Flame Reaver has been going through this for the same amount of cycles. But unlike Phainon(even if he doesn't remember until he activates the Vortex of Genesis), the Flame Reaver not once got to experience a new dawn - a new chance and hope - never.

Black Tide, corruption, madness, fate... His condition isn't surprising anymore at all considering that.

On that note, I still find it astounding that he was so coherent in 3.1. Despite it all he was reasonable. He warned others not to fight him.

Used as little force as possible when fighting.

He was so intrigued about the motives and drive of others that he paused his quest to talk to someone, there's even an argument to be made that he was somewhat whimsical(very limited though and can be interpreted differently).

Despite it all... Despite the hopelessness, the futility, the inevitability of his fate...

Or maybe it was exactly that. Somewhere beneath the Black Tide's power and the madness, his fractured mind was capable of holding on to a tiny bit of hope that this cycle might be different.

Maybe that's why he asked questions, why he wanted to understand Krateros. Maybe there was a part of him remaining that tried to understand that - if - people are different in this cycle, that maybe there was hope that he could achieve a different outcome this time.

Despite it all...

And as time moved on and he witnessed and learned that things are progressing as the prophecy said, his mind began to crumble, losing himself to the madness and the single goal of obtaining the Coreflames to reset it all.
