my partner does so much to take care of me it blows my mind. i feel so terrible not being able to make father's day and his birthday more special for him because he goes so out of his way to make sure i'm comfortable and cared for. i'm sick right now (one of the kids brought something home) and i feel so guilty that it's his last day off and he's been cleaning the house and taking care of everything, bringing me dinner in bed, showering the kids. we went camping over the weekend for three nights and he cleaned the public showers for me and stood outside to hand me things and help me get dressed, he wouldn't let me move anything heavy ("just sit there and look pretty"), he made sure to bring foods he knew i would eat and cook whenever i was hungry... i am so disgustingly lucky to be loved and understood and not made to feel like a burden.

i miss my friends. i miss my community. i miss being surrounded by like-minded silly idealists. i think all the time about how many of my friends i'm never going to see again. i keep forgetting what a social being i am because so many people i love are so far away. the hardest part of being a mom is not being able to go see my friends whenever i want.
