saw some boblena art earlier today that featured yelena with a glowing chest (i guess bc she's like bob's "light") and it got me thinking about a tangled au

obviously valentina is mother gothel, and i'm thinking, given the whole sentry experimentation stuff and bob's general soft boy personality, that it'd be a role reversal for bob & yelena with bob as rapunzel and yelena as flynn/eugene. (it also kinda works out bc as sentry, bob had blond hair, so his magical hair would be blond like rapunzel's and turn brown when yelena eventually cuts it.)

i could see the other thunderbolts taking on supporting roles here - john could be a member of the royal guard, alexei works at the snuggly duckling (obviously), i'm not really sure about ava's role (maybe she fulfills the role of one of those twins, who helped yelena steal the crown and chases after her when she runs off with it; and in her chase, she crosses paths with john, which creates a whole subplot of its own) or bucky's (feel like he could be a guard or a fellow rogue like ava)

oh, this might be a silly idea, but i also thought that perhaps the lost prince is specifically referred to as "prince robert" and bob being raised as just "bob" fails to make the connection that he is the lost prince

no because it’s really really important to me that in a world where we’re so used to the heroes punching and shooting their way to victory, thunderbolts* went out of its way to show us that the void is still very much a part of bob, and bob is their friend, so they’re going to accept every facet of who he is and give him a soft place to land, even if that means they’ll have to be the ones to pull him back from the darkness every single time. because that’s what friends family will do for each other, no questions asked.
