in Disco Elysium I was expecting there to be some kind of “addiction mechanic” that would add a long-term downside to taking drugs, and was surprised not only by the absence of any such mechanic but also that the benefits of drugs greatly outweighed the cost. anyways fast forward to the late game and I was downing three bottles of pyrholidon and smoking an entire pack of cigarettes before attempting any check, and it was only then I realized there was in fact an addiction mechanic

devastated at how helly's "in case we don't come back" at the end of season 1 was actually prophetic. since otc was triggered there has never been a point where all four of them were together again. it's been helena pretending to be helly the whole time. mark has reintergrated so it's not really him either. and as soon as we get helly back irving is fucking killed. they were never reunited after that night and now they never will be. things will never be the same again

The racism in the treatment Milchick receives from lumon has already been pointed out, but to add to that, I think the position they put him is very reminiscent of the glass cliff phenomenon.

I don't know how widely this theory is known, but basically researchers found that women were more likely to be appointed to leadership roles when companies were already doing bad, which put those women under a high amount of scrutiny in an environment that already wasn'tvery welcoming towards them; then other researchers looked into racial minority groups and found the same effect.

Milchick is put in charge of a rebellious team in a time of high stakes crisis, given absolutely zero resources (he has to organize the whole 5-months-have-passed stunt by himself!), and then he's blamed for every attempted solution that didn't yield the frankly unattainable result of fixing everything.

He's being scolded for even the smallest failures but you can be sure he'll never be celebrated for any amount of future success

Usually hate it when Stuff finds a way for a villain to die without the protagonist having to kill them (like another good guy killing the bad guy so that the protagonist remains “pure” but obviously the narrative being that they’re so bad they deserve death) but Severance handled it in such a funny way there’s actually 0 complaints in fact it’s a 10/10 moment.

Severance spoiler: I love that neither innie or outie mark killed Drummond. It was the severance process itself, making the muscles contract and pull the trigger. Drummond was killed by the elevator.

my gf said something sooo insane about helly the other day and i cannot stop thinking about it. she was like. helena and helly’s relationship is almost maternal. the way helena created helly as an extension of herself, to serve her interests, to try and impress her own family. she scolds helly, talks down to her like a child. “i understand you’re unhappy with the life you’ve been given” “i am a person, you are not”. the way she envies and resents helly’s freedom. the way she feels entitled to helly’s life and is now living vicariously through her in the most literal sense. what if you created life and now they’re experiencing the things you’ve always wanted for yourself. what if you created life and they were flawed and loud and demanding and they were loved more than you’ve ever been. and you hated them for it. the mother/daughterisms are insane my girlfriend is insane

What’s funny about the finale is that while so many people irl are angry about iMark, from oMark’s perspective iMark is a badass who was willing to kill someone just to get him to that basement. Like oMark probably walked into Lumon expecting very little and next thing he knows he’s soaked in blood. Since he hasn’t come back into existence it’s fair to say he’s probably really grateful at the moment.

I was gonna write one of those really long-winded and heavy-handed reviews I do that no one cares about regarding what's currently the most prominent entry in the atelier series but considering I haven't cleared the highest level content yet I might as well hold back

Yeah, to those who don't play you have to hear this every time you pull the gacha and there's a really long animation seriously what were they thinking before you even see what you pulled. Unless you skip it of course which wouldn't be very matataku kimi yo of you, would it? Also, why the hell did they leave in traces of the full version in this official upload? Replace those last words with the instrumental or don't cocktease me like that, there's no way to hear the full song in the game and they seemingly haven't released an OST.
