Just when you thought Editing KJ had died (and this episode DID attempt to kill them!), KJ is back to  spend yet another week diving deep into the CW network's walls. This week a bonus episode starring Meredith and August! Instead of notes, here's a list of corrections Editing KJ had of Recording KJ's words: Note that Kevin did in fact lose a kidney, as does Fangs, contrary to what KJ told Meredith in this episode. Seven seasons is a lot to remember specific details on. KJ also mixed up season 2 and season 3 in the Meredith portions of the episode.  KJ would also like to note that they criticized the pacing of the end of season 4 in the August portion of the episode, and the end of season 4 was impacted by COVID, and is the reason those three episodes were pushed into season 5.  All of August’s Riverdale links:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZ-FRSXypUE&ab_channel=SuperEyepatchWolf  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8lrcxI8Fg0&ab_channel=WaitintheWings  https://twitter.com/levgarrity/status/1552014709569765378?lang=en  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eP9rolAwzag&ab_channel=SebastianBrand https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZCgiQKHTJk&ab_channel=gaygorgon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRQp-iUsL-I&ab_channel=SimMallec https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTlYcp-yXoI&list=RDsTlYcp-yXoI&start_radio=1&ab_channel=gaygorgon https://astralspock.tumblr.com/tagged/riverdale Linktree including sign up sheet to be on the podcast and our Discord server: https://linktr.ee/SupernaturalOpinionsPodcast Guest social medias: Meredith (tiktok, instagram and Tumblr): shaedsofdeianeira August: astralspock on all platforms Saving People, Queering Things Podcast: https://queeringthingspodcast.wordpress.com/ Queering People, Saving Throws playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5IjvQJ0zPPAXudQyCOhkmd?si=432b3dd22b944c7e  Pod Squad Crossovers Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1KML5E3FlYUAWUJcOYfsi1?si=72e4da3bc35e4295

Loving supernatural is an evil witch’s curse from my outside observations. Or like an evil Cupid’s arrow. It’s the media equivalent of your hottest friends lamest boyfriend who they are sooooooooooooo into. I love you guys and you have so much great stuff to say about this show but I don’t think it deserves it…

all due respect to dean enjoyers but is the obvious vulnerability not what makes him interesting. the denial of it all. the fact that he is so easy to read even when he's trying his hardest not to be and that other people can understand him better than he understands himself sometimes. if you really want a character who bottles their own emotions up to spare other people's feelings to the point of christ-like self-sacrifice well then boy do i have the winchester brother for you.

Special thank you to Noah (@podcatsedits on instagram) for editing this episode. KJ and Meredith are joined by a very fun duo of Kate and Bahy this week to talk about Kim Manners’ final episode of Supernatural. KJ has a regret about their extensive Supernatural statistics. Dean says if he didn’t know Sam, he’d want to hunt him, leading the squad to ponder the question of how psychic is too psychic? The crew also lodges a complaint about eating on Supernatural and in this episode in particular. CW Episode Description: Sam and Dean discover that Jack Montgomery (guest star Dameon Clark), a family man, is turning into a Rugaru, a creature that starts as a human but changes into a flesh-eating monster. The people who are infected don't understand what is happening until they turn into cannibals and eat another person. Understanding what it is like to be a victim of a twisted destiny, Sam believes he can reason with Jack and convince him to control his urges. Dean doesn't think Jack's animalistic behavior can be subdued and decides the only honorable thing to do is to shoot him. Special thank you to Noah (@podcatsedits on instagram) for editing this episode. KJ, Meredith, and Nick are time traveling and KJ is here to make even more Back to the Future references than this episode of Supernatural. KJ condemns Sam Winchester’s fashion tastes even though there’s a significant lack of Sam in this episode. The crew discusses the cancellation of The Winchesters and what exactly John Winchester thinks happened to the Campbells in this episode. Eric Kripke comes under fire for a questionable showrunner decision. CW Episode Description: Dean is transported back in time and is shocked when he lands in Lawrence, Kansas. However, that shock turns to amazement after he runs into a young John Winchester (guest star Matt Cohen) and Mary (guest star Amy Gumenick) who have just fallen in love. Dean isn't sure why he was sent back so he begins to enjoy the time with his parents and newfound grandfather (guest star Mitch Pileggi, "The X-Files"), who may be hiding a secret that is key to Sam and Dean's entire predicament. Special thank you to Noah (@podcatsedits on instagram) for editing this episode. KJ and Meredith are reunited, and join up with first time guest, Kaya, to talk about this episode of Supernatural where the biblical Apocalypse is introduced. KJ takes issue with the writer’s guest character selection, and the crew agrees with the Winchesters that Bobby continues to be the most incredible character on this show. CW Episode Description: Sam and Dean are stunned when the spirits of Meg (guest star Nicki Aycox) and Agent Henricksen (guest star Charles Malik Whitfield) appear and accuse the Winchesters of failing them. Although rattled, the brothers must pull together to save Bobby (guest star Jim Beaver), who is too crippled with guilt to fight off the angry ghosts of the young children he couldn't save. Special thank you to Noah (@podcatsedits on instagram) for editing this episode. KJ starts the new season hot out of the gate with a discussion on Jesus vs Lazarus. But they’re not on this journey alone, August (Saving People, Queering Things) and Pluto. Cas is finally here, the show finally takes a firm anti-incest stance, and a guest appearance by August's sibling/cohost Sam! CW Episode Description: It's four months later and Dean wakes in a pine box. He's been freed from Hell. He has a joyful reunion with Sam and Bobby (Jim Beaver), but it isn't long before the three wonder what exactly pulled Dean from Hell and what it will want in return. Just ahead of the introduction of Misha's characeracer Castiel to the podcast, we take a quick (or not so quick) look at one of Misha's post-Supernatural characters, folklore professor Jeremy Bradshaw. The stars are aligning after months of delay and KJ and Meredith are kicking off the new season with Frances to talk about Bridgewater Season 2 just ahead of what seems to be an announcement about the future of the Bridgewater series! The crew breaks down the events of season 2, puzzle through the show’s nebulous timeline, and share their thoughts both while listening and now that they’ve finished the season. Plus some healthy speculation and wishlists for potential future storylines. See also: firm opinions on brunch, younger parent older child trope, and parallels and Easter eggs for Supernatural. I just started the s2 ep3 podcast episode and, KJ, I'm not gonna lie. I immediately stopped listening when I heard Jen mention her 300k spn rewrite fic. I HAD to look for it. It took me 10 minutes to find it even though the ao3 username in the ep description is orphaned now. That's how desperate I was. I will now be reading the fic. Thank u for giving me the (now old) tumblr username; that's how I found her fic.
OMG so glad someone’s reading heard from your mother!!

It’s a Pod Squad roundup on the season 3 finale as KJ and Meredith are joined by August (Saving People, Queering Things), and Beth and Jamie (Driver Picks The Podcast, Thief Steals The Podcast). The squad struggles not to talk about Cas as his presence looms so closely. Also up for discussion is hellhounds on planes and financial compensation for Bobby Singer. It was a stretch to get one last episode out in 2023, but we made it and we wrapped up a season to boot! CW Episode Description: It's 30 hours before Dean's deal with the crossroads demon is up and Dean, Sam and Bobby (Jim Beaver) are searching for Lilith, who holds the contract. They discover her location and Sam summons Ruby for help despite Dean's protests. Ruby warns them they aren't ready to fight Lilith yet but they steal her knife and depart for New Harmony, Indiana. In a battle to the death, Sam, Dean and Bobby take on Lilith and all her demons in a last ditch effort to save Dean's life. If you thought KJ’s death count was wacky during Mystery Spot, you’re not prepared for the math happening in the wake of Doc Benton. KJ, Meredith, and Frances are gathered this week to ask some questions about surgical practices. And Frances takes on the mythology section this week with some information about the urban legend that inspired this week’s shenanigans. Also included: A healthy dose of making all of this John’s fault. CW Episode Description: As time runs out for Dean, Sam convinces him to head to Erie, Pennsylvania to investigate a possible zombie case. Instead, they discover Doc Benton (guest star Billy Drago), a real-life doctor who, in 1816, abandoned his medical practice to follow his obsession with finding the key to eternal life by drugging people and stealing their vital organs. Meanwhile, Bobby (guest star Jim Beaver) finds out where Bela is hiding, and Dean heads out to confront her, leaving Sam behind to deal with the good doctor. Dean and Bela battle it out for the last time, and Dean leaves Bela in a desperate, and possibly fatal, position. KJ, Meredith, and Katie (Making It Up As We Go) are recapping this episode and asking some very basic questions about this week’s monster that this episode and even Meredith’s mythology section don’t really have answers for. It’s an episode of fun facts where Kentucky is called out for naming it’s towns with pronunciations at odds with the rest of the world, KJ mixes up two famous inventors and causes a tangent for no real reason, and John Winchester is unfortunately back on the pod’s radar. CW Episode Description: Dean is stunned after he receives a phone call from his dad (guest star Jeffrey Dean Morgan) who tells him he has a solution to get Dean out of his deal. Sam and Dean fight because Sam is skeptical that it is really John on the other end of the phone and warns Dean not to listen to him but Dean disagrees and sets off on his own path to follow his father's orders. We were offered ice cream to not cover this episode and leave right now, but here we are. KJ, Meredith, Beth (Raising Perdition), and Out (Divergent Canon) discuss the Ghostfacers’ Effect, swearing in Supernatural, and the effects of time on this iconic episode of retro-TV-series-Supernatural. CW Episode Description: Sam and Dean take a break from their usual gig to star in a gritty reality show called "Ghostfacers" which chronicles the pursuit of the paranormal. Ed Zeddmore (guest star A. J. Buckley) and Harry Spengler (guest star Travis Wester) have created a radically different and sometimes violent show full of profanity that takes them to the Morton Mansion, an abandoned estate which becomes one of the most haunted places in America one night every four years. However, as their team begins to get picked off in grisly manners not fit for television, they realize they are in over their heads. KJ, Meredith, and Elayna (Saving People, Queering Things) host a summit on a character entirely unique to this season, and that is Bela Talbot. After a brief interlude to talk about that one angel that doesn’t even go here yet, they get to business talking about Supernatural’s best business woman! Along with Bela’s storyline, they also cover the role female characters play on Supernatural and the precedence this set for future characters. Also Elayna defends her love for season three, and why it actually benefited from the 2007 WGA strike. Content note: This discussion episode is even more spoilery than necessary, the crew did not stay on mission, and first time watchers may wish to skip this episode. It is also not recommended to drink every time someone says “But, Bela” to get back on track, at risk of over intoxication.
