Finally back to posting!
I’ve still been doing aerial, just a bit less because a lot of changes have happened in the past 6 months. I moved in with my boyfriend, my father died, and I started a new job to name a few...
Also, my work blocked Tumblr for the longest time and I just kept forgetting to post at home... but now Tumblr in unblocked, woohoo!
Here’s a silks flow from last month with Sarah Sadie Newett

I am the queen of pointed toes but flexed ankle. Working on silks and last night's class was TOUGH. I gained a bit of weight over the holidays and have a lot more to lift in aerial inverts now :)

A Lyrography routine from a few weeks back... I'm slowly getting back to class but haven't been taking any progress shots since I'm trying to get back to where I was. That's why I love these dance classes- you can forget about your recovering injuries for a minute and just enjoy the movement :)

Wasn't sure if I should post this one since I think I look a bit derpy, but I guess that's what happens to me around 80's hair metal.
Elaina's lyrography classes are so fun- if you ever get a chance to take one, DO IT!!

So I'm back! I hope :)
I've been back at class for about 2 weeks now, but I was frustrated with my progress so didn't capture anything. I'm FINALLY starting to feel normal, and have gotten most of my lost strength back. I hope to be posting more regularly now!
Apologies for the low quality, the lighting in this room always makes it hard to video!

I'm 1! I know I've been MIA lately but believe it or not, I'm STILL injured.
I went back to pole class last night and was finally able to semi-invert... doing a chopper was agony for my hip/hamstring. I'm slowly healing and will hopefully be back to posting soon!

I know I haven't posted in a while, but I'm still recovering from my injury in fabrics from September! This is a long process.
Even though I've been taking class, I'm modifying almost everything and sometimes I can't even complete moves because of my hamstring. It's starting to feel better so hopefully I'll be back to posting progress soon.
Thought I'd share the move that did this to me... once I got in the sandwich straddle, I felt my right hip pop, and it was all downhill from there :/

Finally getting back to aerial after a hamstring injury in silks almost a month ago. I took some time off, took a vacation, and managed to do this jump without issues!

Ok a clip from when I wasn't injured. I have no idea what this wrap is called, but the pose is pretty in the end. Anyone know the name of this?

Injured
So I was doing a straddle move in silks class and heard a pop in my hip. Naturally I freaked out, and though my hip felt weird it didn't hurt and I still had all my range of motion.
Now, my leg hurts and it's really sore when I stand up. I'm freaking out because I leave for a 10-day vacation on Thursday night. WTF?
I'm hoping I don't have a serious injury, since I can still move my leg fine but it's sore. Maybe I'll be ok with stretching and resting?

Guys, I got my cross ankle release!!!!
OK, I know this move is kind of basic and it seems to be easy to everyone in my classes. But to me, it's been my nemesis trick for THREE YEARS!
This move is incredibly painful to me- maybe I was doing it wrong, maybe it's just how I'm built- but it was excruciating! I would actually start shaking all over and break out in a full-body sweat while attempting this.
Last week I finally got this move! I'm not sure what changed or why I suddenly got it, but I am so happy I conquered my nemesis trick!
Yay for pole victories!

Silks is the hardest thing I've ever done, but it does get more fun and yes everyone I've ever met in silks is amazing!
But it took me a WHILE to not be so discouraged. It takes a serious amount of strength to be good at silks so you just need to be patient and work on getting stronger and learning to find rest poses.
Hope this helps :)
As predicted, I was terrible. Like, way way worse than everybody else. And on one hand, it felt kind of like all school gym classes, where I was always the worst at everything. But on the other hand, it felt nothing like that because everybody was so nice and encouraging. And I still did better...

My first silks practice in 4+ months!
I surprised myself with not being 100% awful in silks, despite having such a long break since my last class. I did get stuck at the end though and my videographer friend had to come help me :)

Can we just talk about how I have finally fallen in love with silks? I started renting a point with a coworker who has been pushing me to go back to silks for ages. I caved, we went, and this is from our 2nd session. I FINALLY feel strong enough for silks! We have been renting 2-hour sessions and I thought I'd never be able to make it through. I've done it 2x now and feel stronger than ever! And I'm comfortable in silks? And I control them better! And I can do moves that were so challenging for me 4 months ago! Yay! Aerial sports are so challenging but so rewarding when you succeed. I love them!
