Aster again 🔥 Something more symbolic of his transness and maybe foreshadowing the nature of his and Zelos' worst encounters? Time is short for me so here's the "sketch", it's like 80% there?

Female form Aster about to use a monster gem to transform back into a man. Aster's my trans AFAB character who uses magic to maintain a cis man's body. He can't keep the form consistently so he needs gems to avoid outing himself, but they burn out after a while so it's a frustrating cycle. Based on the world I've built, an AFAB taking HRT and getting surgeries to align with a man's body is "controversial" but in more of a US 2016 anti-trans kind of way. We just got gay marriage with Obama and awareness of trans people was on the rise, but the US hadn't yet decided their pet issue was legislatively rolling back our rights in girthy dehumanizing fashion.

In Aster's world everyone can use magic and the three largest communities break into humans, human monsters (half humans), and monsters. Human monsters are this world's favorite scourge, where as monsters don't even qualify for moral consideration so their bar's already in hell.

So Aster being outed as a transman can be an issue depending on the person who finds out, but the most dangerous issue is this world's common knowledge that his ability to change shape is rare and the only humans who can do it are human monsters

The original "best friends forever" boys, from left to right: Wilhelm, Jayden, & Aster. They fought together to protect the same city from monsters, but their paths diverged due to different goals. They kept in touch but Aster never really stopped crying over it.
