Over-enthusiastic Sheith shippers are slowly becoming what they used to hate the most

More and more over-enthusiastic Sheith shippers (who are in the minority, I know) are slowly becoming the type of person they used to despise the most: the hateful, overly-aggressive and whiny brat-type of “fan” who feels entitled to bullcrap from a kid's show and wants to prove the other side wrong - no matter what the cost. The type of fan who doesn't even really care about their ship per se anymore, and the joy the dynamic has to to offer, because being right about it becoming canon is actually more important now; In the end resorting to foul and lame tactics such as:

Spreading misinformation (e.g. “This translation actually put Keith’s “You’re my brother. I love you!” line into a non-platonic context! *lists off reasonings that make native speakers in French/German/Japanese cringe*. Disclaimer: No, Keith made it very clear in all dubs that he bro-zoned Shiro very hard. Doesn’t mean that there is no room for interpretation there, but the dubs kept the heterosexuality of the scene pretty much covered. And even if, you do realize that translations don’t say anything about the original - canon - work, right? Like at all? Germany made a dub in 2008 for the original 80s Voltron (Voltron: DotU) and basically made fun of everything and everyone. Sven was allergic to cats in this version, explaining why he lost to Cova of all people. Would you consider this actual parody to have any influence on the canon Voltron universe? No, probably not - sadly, coz it’s the best thing Germany has ever done - therefore, why should this be any different?)

Attempting to vilify the other side through using personal attacks (e.g. “If you treat your siblings like that [how Keith treats Shiro], you’re a creep who flirts with their own sibling!”). I have no words for this logic, especially since Pidge said very similar lines / had similar expressions on her face when interacting with Matt.

Implying that the other side has nothing to say / doesn’t deserve to express their respective opinion for the sole reason alone that they ship a certain ship, are of a certain age or have done something you disagree with in the past. Everyone has the right to speak their mind, even if they’re an idiot. Just listen to their arguments and debunk them if necessary, it’s not that hard of a thing to do.

Attacking certain posts without looking for context first / jumping to conclusions. I’ve seen so many pro-sheith shitposts getting attacked by their own fellow shippers because their posts were mistaken as an anti’s work. I’ve looked into their blogs, and the person getting attacked more often than not was actually a pro-sheith multishipper - or an outsider altogether - who just happened to make a dumb joke at the expense of things that well... actually happened in the show?

Succumbing to the misconception that everyone is out there to get you / playing the victim card because people on the internet disagree with you. This has got to be my favorite. First of, everyone gets hate on the internet. Next: Do you really think you’re this important? The Watchtower society is telling Jehovas witnesses time and time again (even making small instructional films about it) that one day the government will make their organization illegal and hunt them down with the military and attempt to kill all JWs on earth before armageddon will be a thing. Some Sheith-related assumptions remind me of this inanity. You’re constantly using this backlash people give you as fuel for this delusion that everyone wants you to have a bad time. Every ship gets backlash on tumblr, no matter what you do, people just love to hate you for the things you enjoy. This is not a sheith-only problem and certainly not a conspiracy set up by Klance shippers - who get backlash too, for different reasons.

All of this...  instead of actually elaborating on some pretty good points the other side makes at the end of the day (the Sheith-NOTP/Sheith-skeptical side, not the downright antis, mind you). It’s the total reverse situation from back in the day, when Klantis were flooding this place screaming child abuse because of a stupid age-gap and hereby destroying people’s enjoyment of the show. I’ve seen so many parallels already, it’s hilarious.

No, shipping Sheith/Klance/Insert Ship in fanon is not wrong. No, clutching to the hope that Sheith/Klance/Insert Ship may become canon is not wrong. But be reasonable... and don’t take things out of context and take stuff for granted. It will bite you in the ass later on. Nothing, literally nothing is set in stone yet. 

My stance on Sheith’s likelihood of becoming canon:

Sheith has a very, very slim chance of actually becoming canon, because people (antis and casuals alike) watching this show would consider some aspects of the ship to be concerning. Memeworks would be overrun by angry parents who would confuse Shiro as an ephebophile or even pedophile because of the way certain scenes are structured. Is it stupid? Yes. We don’t really know the context of their relationship, so Shiro doesn’t necessarily have to be an ephebophile if he were to date an adult Keith. But it wouldn’t be so clear-cut for everybody, the implication alone would set people off. I mean, you just have all the proof you need with this Shamus Kelley guy (he reviewed Season 6 beforehand), he was not happy about the reactions the Keith/Shiro scene got from Sheith shippers, like at all. Will Memeworks simply roll with it, despite the serious accusations (very serious, we’re talking about possible sexual grooming here) and make the ship canon anyways... shrugging off the outrage? No. When the cast talked about possible LGBT-rep... they couldn’t be referring to Sheith. But shipping Sheith doesn’t make you a horrible person, people trying to tell you otherwise are delusional.

I know some storyboard-artists made good Sheith art and shared it with you guys. But this is the only real canon - romantic - substance your ship has, and even this can hardly be called such, especially when other ships already received the same treatment and Sheith is constantly played off as a joke by many people in the cast. Just enjoy what you have regardless of canon confirmation. Canon is a bitch. My Sven x Hunk OTP will never be a thing.

Btw, I’d say all of Keith’s lines to my older bro Chris as well. As a lesbian, I’m neither into incest nor men.

sorry for the late response. Like any other Sven, I have some physics assignments to work on. I'm also currently visiting cologne with my girlfriend and we're both having a good time there. I can show you some pictures and provide them as proof of how relaxed we both are, we're reallly having a greaaat time - full of Netflix and chill, German culture at its finest, and delicious food on top of that. I really recommend this place.

Anyways, you do realize that there are just as many lengthy essays from Antis disproving – let's say Sheith - with just the same fundation of evidence that the Shaladins (only those who attack Klance and are hyper-sensitive of course) are so proud of? You're both basically the same, that's it. All that's different is your taste in ships. That was my main point, and many people do – I know you won't believe it – indeed agree with me.

You sending me blogs that aren't setting a good example to other shippers wouldn't mean anything. This is not how it works. You just can't assume something and say that the respective side is all the same while conveniently only using the blogs that fall into the category you despise as a reference/proof. You're not acknowledging the common assumption that humans are indeed individuals and not everyone views the world the same way, added with the fact that there are just as many bad examples of Shaladin blogs which you fail to add into your calculations.

What you're basically using is an anti-argument (not this kind of anti). Instead of taking your opponents' arguments into account and conducting yourself in a respectful manner, you resort to attacking me personally and therefore you try to dismiss my stance on the matter because of the mere fact that I'm supposedly in a bad mood. Which I'm not. You don't have to address any of my points this way, which is exactly what you're going for, and yet again, it's blatantly obvious. I have literally nothing to lose, since the internet isn't real life and I'm not obsessing over a mere ship, like you do. My life is devoid of hatred, and you should be jealous of that.

Congrats... you’re proving yet again that both sides are exactly the same ... Thank you for being part of the problem.

The anti-movement and Shaladins both have a network of information that supports each of their respective ships (basically all that you attributed to the Shaladins can also be said about Antis, not that this means anything...or is something to be proud of), and they are also both known for randomly lashing out at others over mundane things. This is a war with two contributors - not just one - and I’ve seen just as many blocklists, exagerrated theories, lack of common sense, intensely researched and detailed “essays”, etc. etc. from Shaladin shippers as I’ve seen from the Anti-side, which is just ridiculous. This entire fandom is unable to lay back, breath and relax for a second. Life is hard - and honestly shitty - enough on its own, and I believe that a TV-show should relieve you from some of that stress. A fandom is supposed to be a place to find likely-minded people and interact with them. It’s about enjoyment, not arguements. But everyone loses when it comes to the Voltron fandom (*cough* nearly all of the Tumblr fandoms *cough*), no matter what you do here, some people will call you out for it. It’s worse than any discussion in the Youtube comment section that I’ve ever taken part in, and even tops most of the shit going on on 4chan - these guys at least work together as some kind of community.

A few Shaladins act like they’re part of some kind of oppressed minority, just because some people vehemently disagree with them on the internet. I’m sorry. Everyone hears something mean directed towards them on the internet (sometimes on a daily basis), and while I understand that this might make you feel distressed and that the harasser is a total.. well, bitch, you guys have to keep in mind that you’re going to wake up just fine the next morning, eat breakfast and talk to other people over the course of the day who most likely don’t have a single idea what Voltron even is. You have a life outside of your shipping activity. I’m sure of that. Don’t use insults directed towards you as an excuse to be just as shitty to other people or emulate false victimhood. Threats go too far, of course, but I’ve seen both sides resort to this type of bullshit - and this as an outsider who can giggle at crack ships like Shunk and who thinks that a romantically coded relationship between Keith and Lance wouldn’t last that long, imo they’d probably break up after a few months and move on with their lives from this point onwards.

I fail to see how the support of ships between two consenting adults makes you a bad person. I also fail to see how being uncomfortable with a ship for any reason makes you a bad person. If you think that Shiro is too old for Keith, that’s valid. If you think that both Keith and Shiro can decide for themselves whether or not their actions cross a line, that’s valid as well. If you’re feeling the need to be a bitch about your stance, then go play in your backyard with some lame toys since you’re clearly not mature enough yet to sit in front of a PC and use the internet. Same goes for a Shaladin calling out an individual over not approving their respective ship. People have their own reasons man, and I totally understand a negative attitude towards Klance and Shaladin alike, since there are some good points as well as negative aspects about every ship. It all boils down to what you find appealing and “okay”.

You’re providing wonderful sources yourself, anon - you guessed it, none at all. You’re just an obvious liar, it’s painful to read. Sven would be disappointed. You’re doing the exact thing you’re calling “Antis” out for, you spread negativity and hate while not being able to live up to your own standards. I don’t care about which ships you approve of, you’re a bad person either way.

A Klance Fanfiction

Lenz fondled with his belly button and found some cash in there. “Woha, cool stuff.”, he thought. He could finally buy a new Pokémon card with the money, which he immediately did.

“Hopefully, I can impress Kiff with this.”, he discreetly told himself. He didn’t want to admit that he was a furry for Kiff. Pidge jokingly said just back then in 2008 that Kiff would probably die as a virgin since he has to shave himself three times per day. But Lenz thought Kiffs animalistic grunts and constant hair growth were strangely cute. Lenz could already imagine him and the caveman found in the desert going on a date together, in an elevator. He wanted to show Kiff the world and visit Fidel Castro’s grave with him.

Lenz wrecked Shitno in a Pokémon duel thanks to Pidge’s help. Pidge was a clever girl.

Shitno cried in a Japanese accent. Then Kiff came to Shitno’s aid and tried to cheer his buddha up. While Kiff was whispering encouraging barks to Shitno, Lenz nervously approached him. “You know Kiff, we’ve known each other since Trump’s election, the day you sent me a shuppet named Clinton Tears via wondertrade. The day I catched a shiny Onix in your friend safari.”

Kiff ignored Lenz and proceeded dealing with the manchild that was Shitno. Lenz sighed but he was a brave man after all, he had experienced worse shit during his time in space. “Kiff, I want to share my bed, my onions and my herpes with you. Do you want to go out with me?”

Everyone was totally shocked. Kiff nodded slowly. Then they were all like aahh und awwww und boobs and posted their entire love story on Miiverse.
