#14- flat design illustrations

hello!!! i have not been on here in forever. that’s bc i havent done any drawing in a rlly long time too LOOOL.

since the last post, i am now doing an internship!! im working as a design intern, and was tasked to make some illustrations. this is the first time ive ever seriously done illustrations. as u can see from a previous post, i usually trace multiple images first, and then combine different elements from each of those images to make a completely new one.. kind of like photomashing but.. vectors instead. so yes, this is my first time coming up with it from scratch!! eek!! i was v stressed n nervous when i was first assigned it bc i didnt know if i could do it. but it is going okay so far.

imma show an example of my process:

first, i sketched it out on paper

then i traced it out using shapes on illustrator... AHHAAH

then refine it by adding ~gradients and shadows~ LOLLL i referenced a lot of images for the shadows cos we all know how bad i am at lighting n stuff

it sounds simple, but the first few tries didnt look right AT. ALL. still had to use references to help guide me, so yeah, im still a beginner at this, and cant rlly make it look pretty from the get go. im still pretty proud of myself for this though, can we get a yeehaw!!!! lets hope this lasts, and when i look back at this again it will still look pretty to me...!

owo two posts in a row??? who wouldve thought.... just call me Queen of being active on tumblr 😔🤙DNXJISNEDXIJNDX but... uhh..... ya girl did more stuff on d prev drawing even tho she said she didnt kno wat she was doing..... 

lookit lookit!!!!!!!! i changed the mouth cos wtf was dat previous one LOLLLL and i darkened the eyes.... might i say she looks a lil.. fine? 😋HAHAHA

bros i cannot Begin to tell u how fuckin hard it was to draw the pattern thingy on her arm....

spent a solid fucking 50 years on dat shit, n it doESNT EVEN LOOK THAT ACCURATE IM FUMING

and the bunny ears... i kno.... pls dont mention it.... i got rlly lazy uwu...... ill do it when im ~free~ cos dat was too much brainpower for one day... n i only got 2 functioning braincells... this the best its gnna get fer now...

and GAWD i was debating so hard on dat thigh high sock man... i rlly liked the Aesthetic of the sock sinking into a phæt æss thigh..... and the thigh like spilling out... U KNO WAT I MEAN.... but i couldnt think of a good alphet (outfit in me-speak) to match wit those socks, n not be too ooc... so no thigh thingy ig.. oof....

but other than that? i think its Not That Bad.. i also fixed the hair a lil.... the fly-aways were a bit Too Messy for my liking so it has been Smooth’d hehe. anyways heres the bunny alphet in game =w=)b

hullo.... it has been... very.... long..... ive been so fockin busy n now dat im on break i wanted to draw something.. i was ~motivated~ cos i spent like 2 whole days on pinterest looking at inspo fer my ffxiv oc anya... at first i said i wanted to try drawing like... a yakuza au of my oc but. i realised u need to draw tattoos and ma’am... im not at that lvl yet so i jus. drew something simpler.... uwu... ok it is She.. come look....

well. i dont know how to continue from here oof. i think theres something off wit the anatomy and as u can tell, i still cant draw lips so ig ill jus die then... and theres so much Details to Add but im.. have no idea man. i was planning to draw adi frm my prev post cos dat drawing is ugly as shit ! and also to draw my friends from dat heathers post again... but this is jus something i planned to do fer some time now... so yeeyee?

anyways here she is in game format... i cropped it cos theres a friends oc next to mine n i dont think shed want her character posted without permission skksksks

#11- A’diona

hewwo it’s been so long!!!!!!!!!!!! i’ve been on break since like.... a long periodically time ago but i couldnt find d motivation to pick up d pencil but I FINALLY DID IT!!!! im kinda proud of me heh

anyways i’ve been playin ffxiv on d ps4 for the longest time n just made a new character named a’diona tyanu (i added the ‘ bc all miqotes have dat shit in their names KSKSKSSK i just wanna b extra uwu) N HERES HOW MY BABY LOOKS!!!! 

SHE ISNT MY MAIN BUT I LOVE HER!!!! ((i should also get 2 drawin my main qirlie anya soon hehe)) i plan to make her a crackhead LMFAOOO. not a druggie but she acts like she got 2 braincells all the time (which i intend to name cai and llou)

BUT YE thats the reference i used to draw her!! so here she is!! i tried rlly hard I SWEAR tbh one of the few reasons why i play this game is bc i can develops ocs thru it!!

GOSH i know i still cant draw lips or eyes OR a face shape BUT I SWEAR IM TRYIN!!!!!! its so difficult to get clean lines too... ONCE I GET GOOD IN DRAWIN ITLL BE OVER FOR YALL BITCHES!!!! 

but ye i feel like this will be one of those drawings i’ll never finish! i have the starfire n hercules one left undone, and i deleted the heathers piece (post #8) bc i rlly disliked it!! so thats how it’s been lately lol. i wanna try more stylised n cartoony art like mark dizon or mochipanko or cutiepatoodieart cos WOW i love those kinds of art so so much!!! but we’ll see how it goes ig! also rlly wanna try out watercolour bc dat shit SLAPS

#10- SPACE GIF COMPLETED!!!!!

omfg yall this is happiest ive been this entire week bc 

i have no school tomorrow

i finally finished the gif and im so satisfied w myself!!! 

i cant believe i did it heheh now i have no excuse to procrastinate ksksskks

i was initially planning to do it frame by frame on photoshop but...... well....... oof. a friend told me u could use after effects to animate it instead!! (nd it doesnt have to be frame by frame god bless)

heres a pic of the final draft on illustrator!!

so ye i imported my ia file into after effects and looked up tutorials. its been 4 hours and im proud to say...... i kinda like it uwu so here it is..... in all its glory......

i worked rlly hard on it uwu heheheh im just so...... happy. like i feel good about myself after seeing this. its not the best, but it isnt the worst either!! for once i can actually say im rlly proud of something ive done!! aaaaaa

#9- Space gif

hey its ya boi skinny penis.

my mood hasnt improved at all. in fact, its gotten worse. school started 2 days ago and everything is ALREADY going downhill. i dont want to elaborate to spare you, and myself, from the details.

anyways, i got rlly annoyed at how the heathers one looked. i think i need to stop trying to make things proportionate if i want a cartoon style. or maybe it rlly is ugly after all lol. i wanna develop a unique art style, but so far im getting nowhere hhhhh i might just redraw the whole thing. out of all the four drawings ive done, i only like the starfire one. i can actually look at it and not wince lol.

i decided to make a gif to clear my head. i was going thru different free vector websites and saw one of a spaceship cockpit, which inspired me to make a space gif. here are progress pics. its still a wip tho, so if i manage to finish it, ill update it here.

i was inspired by the ufp logo lol but it looked ugly so i changed it. i added some colour so for now it looks like this

im still figuring out how i want the view to look. of course, as always, im open to suggestions. hopefully this will turn out nice, and something i can be proud of. also sorry for the gloomy post hhh ill... try my best to feel better by the next one.

#8- Heathers

hewwo. i havent been in my best mood lately. dont rlly know why. ive been down in the dumps, nd feeling extremely shitty lol. ive got one thing going for me tho, which is that im getting along with the people in the discord chat i mentioned in post #6. theyre very nice nd funny people. some of them want to follow this account, but honestly im too shy to tell them about this entire.... mess of an account lol. my stuff arent all that much... esp that stupid sailor moon colouring lmfao im so embarrassed

anyways, ive learnt how to skateboard a lil, which is pretty cool. ive just constantly been trying to pick up new skills in an attempt to feel competent, and feel like i can do something right lol but it hasnt made me feel any less shitty. anyways. this is just a post dump of my feelings so if anyone happens to read this.... im sorry lol pls just ignore the above. i wanted to find a place to let it out.

ok so on to the actual drawing. i went overseas for a bit nd brought along my mini sketchbook, which i havent touched in a long periodically time.... in it i found a drawing of veronica sawyer, which is one of the inspos of this drawing. also bc my friend so kindly drew us as hogwarts students nd i wanted to do something back for them. since the heathers were a trio, it was perfect. so i started work.

it isnt all that tbh, but i like the hair on the guy a lil. ive been struggling so much with hair, esp on that starfire piece. one of my fav artists actually streamed to show me how to do some hairstyles, which was really nice of her. but im still struggling so.... yay me i guess. but this isnt so bad right? im not sure. if anyone has any tips, i would appreciate it if u share some!! :)

the guy looks a lil like 707 from mystic messenger, but i swear its not him hhhhh i dont like him enough to draw him LOL. heres the reference picture for this:

so i ‘finished’ starfires body and her fingers look kinda weird but THIS IS THE LIMIT OF MY CAPABILITIES. for a beginner im actually kinda happy about the pose (ofc w tons of help from referencing)

i tried doing the clothes but truly….. thats the start of my downfall lmfao

idk im too scared to line or colour or do anything to it now in fear of ruining it hhhhhhh for some reason it always looks worse when i remove the sketch lines 

scrrRREEEECCCHHEESSSS idk what i should do about it now i dont want to leave it hanging as a wip but im too much of a pussy to venture into the unchartered waters that is…. lining and colouring… maybe i should just do something else for now and come back to it when im less insecure (which is NEVER im sorry kori bb)

i rlly want 2 draw something cute to make myself happy bc i just joined this discord chat and everyone there is so fucking talented and funny and im so intimidated lmao i looOOOOoooVe having low self esteem;;; but of course it aint their fault bc theyve worked their asses off to get their art to where it is now and i should… probably.. start too….. im going to leave here a tweet that rlly came for me lmao I DIDNT ASKED TO BE CALLED OUT LIKE THAT

#7- Hercules

henlo so i decided to leave starfire for a bit bc 

im too scared to start colouring

i had this awesome vision of a hercules drawing

look i recently rewatched the hercules movie n it was rlly cute n had a gr8 soundtrack so it just happened lol;; i wanted to make it like.... chibi-ish??? idk what chibi is in proper terms oof. i envisioned it to be his side profile like how almost all of his merch in the movie is. and he’d be flexing bc... well.... hes hercules.

so here we are, with a hercules drawing instead lmao im sorry 

i wanted to try out the cartoony style bc i wanted something faster to draw n something cute..... well i fucked up bc im not done w it yet and i didnt turn out the way i wanted it to;;;;;; by that i mean.....

HIS BODY IS SORTA PROPORTIONATE AND HES FULL SIZED. i didnt want that omg i wanted him to be cute n tiny and it went wrong haaaaaah. also i realised i apparently envision v similar things as other people bc theres a lot of side profiles and flexing when i search just ‘hercules’,,,,, so im rlly sorry if it looks similar to anyones art!! on god i didnt copy it my references of his face n all were from official art !!

buT um yeah im still trying to find my... style(?) so ill definitely give other cartoon styles a shot bc im not extremely fond of this one. i think the pose is kinda cool but.... why did it turn out this way..... i just want him to be little.... uwu WHAT IS IT???? IS IT THE FACE???? HOW DID IT END UP LIKE THIS??? regardless i guess i’ll have to stick w it bc well.... i already drew it so..... i like it tho, its good practice. (also i gotta fix the cape, i just noticed how odd it looks lmfao i got an ugly ass reminder written on the psd file)

so yeah..... when i envisioned it being cute, i thought of drawing the outline and THEN going over to illustrator to colour n line it as a vector. now, im not so sure anymore bc its so...... big. what should i do lol if u hv any opinions do tell

#5- Starfire

henlo tumblr i m back ive just been watching so much teen titans clips on yt i miss my kids sm uwu i was gonna watch teen titans go bc it didnt seem as bad as people put it...... but then robstar wasnt a thing so i scratched the idea bdueifefbeub sounds like het culture huh......

anyways ive been rlly trying to draw but i keep failing bc nothing seemed good enough... is this what u call an art block????? am i worthy enough to use this word omg (btw eyebrows r so damn hard to draw compared to real life i cant handle this). ive just been wasting away n lazing around but teen titans rlly got me up on my feet so i did a drawing of my #1 gf starfire (w the reference photo at the side)

but the eyes i drew couldnt reflect her cuteness + my ass was lazy as heck to redraw it bc it took so fuckin long so i decided to change my starfire into the more cannon version,,, which is essentially just less innocent n airheaded oof

also i found out a bitch couldnt draw those damn fingers even with a reference photo to save her life so i had to compromise... n draw her in a different position. with help from reference photos, here is the half-done work

something just rubs me the wrong way about those arms tbh and i think its bc her shoulder r too small??? but idk huhu i rlly need someone to help me but im too scared to ask any of my irl friends bc im scared of people with higher drawing capabilities than me hfieouhfeoe IM JUST LIKE THAT ONE TWEET

#4- Vector Sailor Moon

hello im back.... with another sailor moon piece. ok dont @ me but ive actually never watched sailor moon (just snippets) but i swear ill get to it. i just rlly like the aesthetics of it uwu

i based it on this piece of art so!!! all credits goes to takeuchi naoko!!

so yeah i was pretty upset about my lack of drawing talents so i decided to do a vector on illustrator instead fhioerhfoerf heres a rlly cool outline preview before i drew in the face bc.... the face was quite tragic LMAO

and heres it with the face

(ok now that ive looked at it again, the preview version isnt THAT bad) but i cant say the same for the coloured version HAHAHAA

i finished this at 8am yesterday (??? or today) but i thought the outlines in the hair and hand looked quite out of place, so i removed it huhu 

yeet honestly looks much better .... and then i removed the face n i rlly like it the best;;;; but i worked so hard on the face that i couldnt bear to delete it permanently so im just gnna show it 2 u here... 

this was more of a learning tool for me rather than an art piece bc its sorta like a traced piece??? i emphasise once again that this entire vector is based off takeuchi naoko’s official art!!

#3- Sailor Moon

alright ok so i tried drawing sailor moon bc i got too ahead of myself and thought i could do it after i tried blending yesterday,,,, it looked okay at first but the more i look at it i actually kinda wanna choke

this is a sketch which looks kinda???? idk the sketch lines and the brush sizes and everything are different + inconsistent and im kinda pissed off but i cant even bother at this point. 

this is it without the face sketch lines and lmao it somehow looks worse im quite  :      ) oof

i added face makeup but it looks muddy as fuck vegirbguraf and i also dont know where to add highlight n shit so i just did it the makeup sort of way but it doesnt look that great either eek

in an attempt to salvage it it i coloured everything rlly poorly and as im looking at it im getting increasingly uncomfortable with its lack of.... talent aaaAAAAAAA 

here it is with the sketch lines so it looks less empty;;;; I FEEL LIKE IM GOING TO REGRET POSTING THIS BC IT LOOKS PRETTY BAD BUT I HAVE TO DO IT IF I WANNA SEE MY OWN IMPROVEMENTS

i think i like it without colour the best bc i cant colour so it looks less ugly fiuebf if anyone has tips pls tell me some so i can improve !!! dont want it to be looking like this forever huhu. dont think i’ll ever complete the body, bc i cant draw that just yet. baby steps, man. im gnna post this now otherwise ill actually start to hate this!!! this is such a self-depreciating post im sorry

OKAY I KNOW MY PREVIOUS POST WAS JUST A LIL WHILE AGO BUT HEAR ME OUT OKAY

so i was scrolling through one of those instagram art accounts (@/anatomytips) that try to help beginners like me (bless their souls) and they say instead of lowering opacity of ur brushes, try reducing the flow bc itll be less patchy and u cant see the lines so i decided to try it out.

i cant tell which is better, bc tbh they look exactly the fucking same to me lmfao and the opacity looks better too fniuefbnuifbw idk maybe ive been looking at it for far too long???? im gnna ask mira to see what she thinks and go to fuckin bed bc its 4am but yeah.... cool progress i guess,,,

#1- Blending

since no one knows or follows this blog, i’ll be documenting my digital art progress here!!! also i dont really know how to use tumblr so.... you might also see me progressively getting better at this posting thing....... hopefully

so i tried out blending for the first time lmao it isn’t great but it isn’t bad either??? just saying that yall make it look so damn easy..... heres my PrOgReSs PiC xDxD 

its not too bad... i hope... it looks good for now, but maybe when i look back at it more ill start to hate it LIKE I DO WITH EVERYTHING UIFBNEIUCBEUIC

i started by using a hard round brush and then blended by constantly colour picking random shit and doing the thing with a soft round brush. used photoshop to do this btw!! wow im such a privileged kid xDxD ((i wont have it anymore after i graduate from school tho huhu))

if anyone actually sees this, and is proficient in this digital art thing pls do give me some comments n tips thank u xoxo be nice tho.... IM SENSITIVE AUBREY.
