“Let them judge you. Let them misunderstand you. Let them gossip about you. Their opinions aren’t your problems. You stay kind, committed to love and free in your authenticity. No matter what they do or say, don’t you doubt your worth or the beauty of your truth. Just keep shining like you always do.”

“Everyone who terrifies you is sixty-five percent water. And everyone you love is made of stardust, and I know sometimes you cannot even breathe deeply, and the night sky is no home, and you have cried yourself to sleep enough times that you are down to your last two percent, but nothing is infinite, not even loss. You are made of the sea and the stars, and one day you are going to find yourself again.”

“She did not need much, wanted very little. A kind word, sincerity, fresh air, clean water, a garden, kisses, books to read, sheltering arms, a cozy bed, and to love and be loved in return.”

Sometimes you wondered if your best friend was entirely human. It wasn’t some large overt thing that gave you pause, but rather, a million little things. It was in the way the light sometimes caught their eyes and shined unnaturally, the way their movements would sometimes be abruptly and unnervingly smooth, before going back to that familiar awkward and perfectly human movements.
There were times when their language would shift, or they would become confused at things that were so very simple, as though they had accidentally stepped out of time, and hadn’t quite caught up with all the changes yet. It was in the way their lips would curl, something vaguely sinister and dangerous in their expression, when ever someone treated you poorly or the unholy glee and air of twisted satisfaction, when they got what they deserved.
Part of you wanted to ask, but you feared that you would lose them if you tried. Before them, you had been so alone, so out of place. The only things that ever kept you company were animals, and even then they were often chased away by others, drawing even more negative attention upon you. You were miserable.
Meeting your best friend had felt like coming home, like you had always been destined to meet each other. You had never had such a strong friendship with someone before, but with them it had been easy. They were so intensely protective of you, so very understanding and supportive, so genuinely loving.
As you watched them manipulate the latest moron who had dared try to upset you, you couldn’t help but watch all those little things that made you wonder. You would never ask, wouldn’t dare. There was no way you could ever risk losing the best thing that ever happened to you, even if they weren’t being entirely truthful with you. Either way, you were content so long as they were by your side.

“I don’t know, I don’t want to talk as much…It’s nicer to think, dear, pretty thoughts and keep them in one’s heart, like treasures. I don’t like to have them laughed at or wondered over.”

She was beautiful, but not like those girls in the magazines.
She was beautiful, for the way she thought. She was beautiful, for the sparkle in her eyes when she talked about something she loved. She was beautiful, for her ability to make other people smile, even if she was sad. 🦋
No, she was not beautiful for something as temporary as her looks. She was beautiful, deep down to her soul. ♥️♥️♥️

"If the wind can speak, what would it say? If the mountains can move, where would it go? ...."
A really good poem is a great way to end this day. I have always been so grateful...
