The knight smiled wanly in return. It wasn't that he doubted Beatrix; the paladin had always been most capable, but talking to her here and now, it was impossible to ignore just how... how weary she looked. Her good eye was dull; looking as tired as the rest of her when normally, the Rose General was as radiant as the blossoms she was named after. "Of course I worry about you, Beatrix. You mean the world to me, and should anything happen to you, I would not know what to do..." he said, trying to keep his smile from faltering. However, it disappeared the moment he noticed Beatrix pause mid-sentence, her lithe body teetering back and forth as she fought to remain standing. "Beatrix-!" Steiner called out, reaching out so that she did not topple over onto the hard, unforgiving stone floor. Immediately he winced, feeling the heat of the fever even through his gloves. How had she managed to last this long into the day?

"You'll do no such thing as long as I, Captain Adelbert Steiner, stand as Her Majesty's loyal guardian. Emperor or not, you stand in Alexandrian territory now, and will wait like everybody else until she is ready to make your acquaintance-!"

"My Queen, there is nothing for you to apologize for-!" Steiner said, astonished that Queen Garnet should feel the need to apologize to him - a lowly knight! He saluted the summoner quickly, taking care to be mindful of his manners in the presence of royalty - unlike a certain thief they both knew. "It is not your fault that Zidane insists on playing his juvenile pranks. You have done your best in curtailing the worst of his antics, but there is only so much one can hope to do." Ooh, to think that Her Majesty felt she had to apologize for that rogue’s misdeeds-!
