“Dawn. Have you heard of the Sinjoh Ruins?”

“No.”

“Well. They say it is the remains of a Temple created hundreds of years ago by two groups of people. One from Sinnoh and the other from Johto. In a strange blend of the two cultures…it contains elements of Spear Pillars and the Ruins of Alph. Making it very strange considering how it was a Temple made for Arceus.”

“So…are you ready?” 

“Ready for wha- oh god dammit.”

Was the conversation Dawn and Cynthia had before she made Dawn travel all the way to god knows where in order to reach the Ruins. This was not the first time Cynthia had made her travel the world. She claimed it was for her “benefit” and it was “healthy” for her. Dawn wasn’t sure she bought it.

She sighed as she adjusted her hat, looking around at all the snow. At least it was very pretty and quiet. Dawn took a look in her bag to make sure the “Azure Flute” Cynthia had given her was still there. Supposedly it was important to her research? Whatever.

At least she was alone.

This was the furthest part of Johto that Silver had ever reached. Not many even knew that Johto’s borders stretched this far north. Past the Lake of Rage there was little civilization at all. The freezing temperatures didn’t exactly inspire many pioneers to come this far north. All that was left as a monument to what civilization did exist there was the Sinjoh Ruins.

Unlike the Safari Zone or the Lake of Rage, few people came to visit the ruins, especially at this time of year. Even though a majority of the journey was indoors, with the easiest path being through the Ruins of Alph, the temperatures remained bone chilling. Silver could feel himself beginning to regret the trip with every step, but if he’d come this far, he may as well go the whole way. There was no way he was wasting the trip, no matter how much he hated it.

On every side, the ruins was surrounded wall-to-wall with snow, packed high above any person or Pokemon’s head. There was no sound but the occasional howl of wind. Silver was shivering even despite all the clothes he was wearing. And the researcher he’d met before heading up said the temperatures weren’t bad right now. What a liar.

Regardless, he’d made it. The only building on site aside from the ruins itself was a small cabin, empty now and providing little warmth for Silver at all. He had been warned that there may or may not be people there, and it seemed like he had gotten unlucky in this case. It would have been nice to get some more info on this place, but oh well. There was only one thing left to do now: inspect the ruins.

Sinjoh Ruins had been the subject of many mysterious rumors, all surrounding Legendaries. Some said it was the birth place of some of Sinnoh’s most famous Legendary Pokemon: Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina. It was said that Arceus had created them upon the platform at the beginning of the universe, but Silver had his doubts about the myth. But no matter what the truth was, he had a feeling that there was something really important waiting inside.

As Silver turned the corner from the cabin, he spotted a figure ahead. She was the first sign of human life he’d seen since he’d started the journey through the Ruins of Alph. Though part of him was irritated that he might not be the only person inspecting the ruins, another part recognized the opportunity to possibly learn more, if this girl knew anything about the Ruins of Alph at all. Who knew, maybe she was a researcher.

Silver stepped quickly towards the stranger. He came up to her quickly, wasting no time in getting to the point.

“Hey. I don’t know if you’ve seen anybody, but you’re the first person I’ve seen here at all.” Silver glanced towards the ruins, then back to her. “...Do you know anything about this place?”

The Chase || Silver & Ethan

Ever since Silver had come to Johto, he had been fascinated by the tales of Legendaries in the region. Ho-oh and Lugia served as guardians of the region, depicted everywhere in art and local mythos. He had sought them out, though not with much fervor. As much as Silver would have loved to lay claim to a Legendary creature and show once and for all his power as a Trainer, he knew in the back of his head that it was wholly unlikely.

The trio of Legendary Beasts, on the other hand, were fair game. Silver had only caught glimpses of the beasts once, when he had visited the Burned Tower in Ecruteak City. Through the gaping hole in the floorboards he had seen them, the mighty, vicious creatures that were said to roam Johto: Entei, Raikou, and Suicune. Their power was a force to be reckoned with, capable of great violence and destruction. Silver couldn’t help but want one.

The only issue is that he had no idea where to start. The Legendary beasts roamed Johto aimlessly with no rhyme or reason. They were rarely ever spotted. According to local legend, they only appeared to the most worthy of Trainers. It wasn’t every day that one could just happen to stumble across one of these great beasts. There was no way he could find it on his own, but Silver had an idea where he might be able to get a little help.

Silver had not been the only one to spot the Legendary beasts in the Burned Tower that day. No, his obnoxious rivals had been there too. It seemed almost a perfect fit. Three rivals, three Legendaries. Silver had lost total interest after a particularly hard loss to his rivals, and he gave up any interest of wanting to catch a Legendary then and there. It just wasn’t worth it. They’d just want to hog the beasts anyways. But now that encounter could finally come in handy. Surely his rivals, with their Pokedexes on hand, were able to obtain an incomplete record of the beasts. Something to track them with. Silver knew that these Pokedexes could do that, so long as one had encountered a Pokemon before.

If he could just get one of them to agree to lend him their Pokedex, then Silver was in business. It seemed unlikely that he could ever get a Pokedex from Kris. If he wanted it from her, he’d have to pry it from her cold, dead hands. Lyra was nice, but she still didn’t trust him. There was no way she was lending her Pokedex to him. Ethan, on the other hand, might just be the right target. He was friendly, kind, and actually kind of liked Silver. That was promising, to say the least. Out of everybody, it seemed like Ethan was his best shot.

Ethan lived both in Newbark Town as well as on the outskirts of Goldenrod City. His grandparents had a daycare located just on the tail-end of Route 34. He had a feeling that his rival might be there. After all, Ethan had told him that he often helped around the daycare, more often than not.

Silver pushed open the doors of the daycare, and looked around the immediate area. No one was at the counter, nor was anybody around, it seemed. He slowly strolled towards the counter and set his hands upon it. On the desk was a call bell, old-fashioned, but cutesy. There was no better time to hit it than now. Silver tapped the bell with his palm. A hearty, metallic ‘ding’ rang throughout the empty lobby. Feraligatr snuffled at the bell before striking it hard with his fist. Silver pushed his Pokemon’s arm back as another louder ring bounced off the walls. Soon, he could hear the sound of footsteps rapidly drawing closer to the lobby. Ethan appeared out of the back room.

“...Feraligatr hit the bell,” Silver began, crossing his arms. He paused before he spoke again. How to broach the subject? Surely he didn’t want to be completely straightforward. Flat out asking immediately would likely not get him anywhere. They’d have to ease into the conversation, if he could. He had to get this Pokedex. He just had to. “Uh. So. How has the daycare been going...?”

The luau was in full swing, but Lucas had decided to sneak off the Aether Foundation’s island and head back to Alola.  He’d return eventually, but for now he just wanted to spend some time in a region he hadn’t spent much time in yet.  He wasn’t completely done mapping it…and he also was interested in doing some touristy things.

His Cleffa was perched on his shoulder as he wandered the small town of KoniKoni.  There were several spots he knew he’d want to check out later that night, but for now he was content on wandering the streets a little.  Someone had told him that the lighthouse on one side of town was a perfect place to view the ocean; Lucas decided that was a good place to start.

He approached the railing that prevented people from falling of what was a very sheer cliff.  Placing his hands on the cold metal he stared out at the ocean.  The water was too cold in most places in Sinnoh to swim in, but the water here seemed to be much warmer.  At the same time, it was a little too warm.  As he started drifting off into a daydream, his Cleffa began wiggling down his shoulder to sit on the bar.  Unfortunately, she wasn’t very successful and let out a high pitched yelp as she tipped over the side.

Lucas snapped out of his fugue and grabbed Hoshiko, tumbling backwards into a person in his attempt to save his Pokémon.  Hoshiko was fine, but Lucas was pretty sure he bruised his head after smacking it into someone else. He turned around and offered the boy an apologetic smile.  “Uh, sorry about that.  I guess I’m a little clumsy today.”

Silver had visited the luau and quickly decided that it wasn’t exactly for him. He wasn’t a social person, and this was especially true when it came to large groups. At the very least, Feraligatr seemed to be having a great time, getting attention and pets from various Trainers who were curious about the foreign Pokemon. It wasn’t long before Silver had dash enough of the party for the time being and took a ferry to Akala Island, a nearby island of Alola.

Akala was chock full of places to go. Silver had settled on Konikoni City, a city filled with many shops to explore. It was a good start in his opinion. If he was going to spend time in Alola, he may as well get a souvenir or two. Silver strolled slowly through the town, eyeing all the different booths and shops that were lined up along the main street. Ahead, he could see the town break off at the coast, a lighthouse looming above the entire city. The swirling light at the top of the lighthouse reminded him of Olivine City and the Ampharos that inhabited it. The view from the top of the lighthouse was probably beautiful. He made the choice to check it out.

Silver followed the street towards the coast. As he came to the grassy area, lined by grey metal railing, he noticed that the lighthouse was blocked off by a fence. Really? Olivine Lighthouse was always open to Trainers, day and night, and many made it their place to train. Why would this be any different? Silver grumbled under his breath about it, turning away and approaching the railing instead. Another young man was standing at the railing nearby with a Cleffa.

Suddenly, there was the sound of a Pokemon squealing in panic. Silver quickly turned towards the source of the disturbance, and in a flash the Trainer from before barreled into him headfirst. His head connected with Silver’s chest, forcing out a groan as he stumbled backwards. As he collected himself, the stranger apologized for the accident.

“It’s... fine,” Silver replied. “What happened there?”

The sun was going down as Silver and Crobat strolled through the park. The Pokemon seemed to be a bit under the weather for the past day or so, and he had figured that the fresh air might do a little good for him. He had yet to act on the creature’s discomfort, figuring that it would pass since it hadn't seemed a particularly severe issue. Regardless, he had been taking it easy on the bat Pokemon, though nothing seemed to change.

Crobat had gone through a couple of casual battles before the sun began to set. Trainers were beginning to clear out for the evening to avoid training in the dark. A few still meandered about, like Silver, not as concerned about leaving so soon. As Silver wandered around the area, a young lady approached him nervously. She explained to him that Crobat didn’t look healthy to her.

Silver glanced behind him to look at Crobat. His eyes did look a bit off now that she pointed it out. Even now the Pokemon seemed to not be feeling his best. And apparently it was enough for someone to point it out to him. Maybe he should have been more concerned?

"Uh... no, he usually looks better than this. He's been kinda sick but I haven't been sure why. It didn't really seem like a big deal to me... do you think it is?"

the sun was setting in the west, with orange rays casted all around the sweet park. it was, as such, growing emptier and emptier, enough so for serena to take special notice in a cute pokémon. her summer reading was set aside as she approached, bottom lip bitten and walk only a little sheepish.

                        ❛  has it’s eyes always looked like that? um, it might be nothing, but i’m studying on pokémon health... and it says that crobat’s eyes are supposed to be yellow, with red scelera…. but this one’s looks orange.. and a little bloodshot. are you sure it’s healthy? s - sorry if it seems like i’m showing off, but i was just worried… i wasn’t sure if you knew, or not.    ❜
