Another Draco + Children Headcanon
The kids--Potters, Weasleys, Scamanders, even sometimes their friends--seem to always end up at the Manor.
The holidays are spent at home. For family, this means the Burrow, mostly, but apart from that they’ll spend time at the Potter’s, or a few of them will take a vacation to Shell Cottage, etc. Eventually, owing to the friendship between Scorpius and Albus, the Malfoys are invited over for Christmas.
But on the average day--maybe during the summer, sometimes in the days between Christmas and the New Year--all the kids just sort of show up.
Of course, it started with just Albus. Scorpius and Albus were thick as thieves after all, and Albus quickly found that he preferred the relative peace of the Manor and the company of his best friend to fighting with his brother in a loud house.
Eventually, this brings Rose over, as well. Hesitant as she was to get to know Scorpius at first, she couldn’t hold out forever, and soon they became a band of three. One day, Draco found her in the library, having not even known she was visiting. When she peaked over her growing stack of books, she raised a questioning eyebrow as though she had every right and reason to be in the Malfoy Manor library, and it was his business there that was questionable. After a long pause, and perhaps seeing just a bit too much of both her parents reflected in her, Draco simply sighs and asks if she’d like tea, and she stays for hours more. This quickly becomes a pattern.
It also seems to open a door of some kind. Without really noticing what was happening, Draco finds himself with company of some sort more often than not. James visits at first because Albus or their whole family visit, but he soon makes himself comfortable. Draco has a reasonably impressive collection of Quiddich memorabilia, and James will usually be the one to bring along someone outside the family to look it all over time after time (whether his friends are curious about the sports gear in particular, or just about Malfoy Manor in general, is open for debate, but no one cares all too much about it).
Lily, who proves to be quieter than both her brothers and who makes conscious efforts to become an elegant young lady, likes to draw in the garden. She has also been known to dance in the grand ballroom, and will come over for tea when her schedule allows it, as she likes to use the fine China. She and Astoria actually get along very well, and to everyone’s surprise but her’s, Lily finds it very easy to talk to Pansy Parkinson, who occasionally comes along with Astoria’s sister for visits. Lily sits herself there among the pureblood socialite women and it is all perfectly natural.
Lorcan and Lysander wander the grounds, and Draco is never sure when they even started visiting in the first place. The Manor, in a similar way to the Burrow, plays host to a number of smaller magical creatures, and the boys take wondrous pleasure in meeting every single one of them. Sometimes their parents are with them, and if that is the case Luna will take the time to chat with Draco and Astoria as though they were lifelong friends.
Teddy Lupin, too, has made himself quite at home. Now, he himself is not a child, but it is a rare day when he comes to visit without his baby at his hip and his wife at his side. He just...came over one day and decided to act like family. Draco was his cousin, after all. Draco makes the conscious decision to take this in stride.
One summer week, when the Potter-Weasleys were accosted by a terribly infectious flu, and James, Rose, Lorcan, and Louis fell ill, the parents all decided-- separately, individually--to quarantine the sick kids and send their healthy children to the Malfoy’s. Draco was not home to receive the numerous owls or to greet the children coming in through the fireplace, but when he came home to a boisterous household filled with the progeny of his collective once-enemies and a slightly shell-shocked wife, the only thing he could do was laugh.
#Draco Malfoy#headcanon#i just think the kids would like him#i couldn't even tell you why#after everyone gets over the whole Malfoys are Evil thing#non TCC compliant only because Astoria is alive#easily compliant if you ignore her existence all together

Headcanon that Hugo Weasley thinks Draco is a vampire
Okay but imagine little Hugo seeing the severe, pale man draped in black on Platform 9 3/4 and remembering all the stories Luna had told him and his cousins growing up.
Scorpius visits Albus over holidays and Hugo remembers every single remark about the demeanor of his father, how he’s dark and brooding and doesn’t much like crowds.
Ron and Hermione being super confused when Hugo keeps asking for books on Vampire lore.
Imagine how stark a difference there would have been, once the Malfoys start interacting with the Potter-Weasley-Grangers, between the manner of Hugo’s family--who are loud and outspoken and slouch and put their elbows on the table--and Draco Malfoy, who is quiet as all hell and moves gracefully and ties his hair in a perfect ponytail.
Draco is severely confused for a good decade as to why Hugo Weasley stares at him whenever they happen to be in the same room.
Hermione finally figures it out and she and Astoria subtly reinforce Hugo’s belief. Hermione will tend to bring up Dracula when talking about muggle literature. Astoria, when with the Weasley family, will make remarks about her husband’s tendency to burn when he’s outside too long, or how he actually prefers white gold jewelry to silver.
Years into this, when Hugo finally decides to share his theory with his family, Teddy Lupin--fully adult, married, holding his child in his arms--looks at Hugo with the most serious face and says “By Merlin, I thought I was the only one who noticed.”

Just a heads-up, I’m casually writing a bunch of Draco/Astoria one-shots. I just posted the second chapter. It’s really nothing major, but I personally find it difficult to find pro-Drastoria fanfics out there, so it you want to take a look, it’s over on AO3: The Chronicles of Astoria Malfoy
Hopefully I’ll get more out soon. For now, hope you enjoy :)

I have to respond via reblog because this isn’t my main blog. Sooo... here we are :)
@noctowl I’d just like to say that I agree--it is very well done. That’s one of the reasons I keep going back to it. There were truly a lot of elements that were so lovely and true to the characters and the story. In fact, I genuinely agree with the characterizations of the next gen characters, Albus and Scorpius in particular (I’ve been imagining them as Slytherin besties in my head since DH was released). I think there is a lot of good to be had. In fact, most of what I adore about it is the characters and how they handle each other. That’s great.
--To those of you who say it reads like fanfiction...yes, it does. It’s a play. They’re very overt, they all sort of read like fanfiction. It’s always better on stage :)
...I get hung up about the plot though. It’s the time turner thing, I guess. It strikes me as sort of lazy? Almost? And it bothers me that the type of time travel doesn’t line up with Prizoner of Azkaban time travel (In PoA, time is treated as static--Harry and Hermione looped time, and even though they interfered, nothing changed. In TCC, time is volatile. Granted, saving someone from death is a bit bigger than going back an hour for classes, but usually time travel will only be treated one way or the other in its respective media; thanks to the existence of TCC, it’s not treated as both.)
Also, the plot of A Very Potter Sequel is time-turner dependent, and I don’t quite know how to reconcile the two in my mind.
I don’t want to discount anyone’s opinion!! My gosh, no. It’s not my favorite, but I do like it. It’s like...I’ll watch The Godfather because it’s an objectively great film, but I’m also gonna watch Pirates of the Carabbean 4 because it’s fun and I like myself. At its absolute worst, The Cursed Child is like, my PoTC4.
Scorpius Malfoy Headcanons
Listen I’m on the fence about The Chused Child, but I think we can all agree that Scorpius Malfoy is to be protected at all costs, and his relationship with his father is precious. So, here are a few pointless fluffy headcanons, some that fit in with TCC canon and some will not. Ahem.
- In a tradition that started when he was four years old, Scorpius and Astoria wake up super early on Father’s Day–waayyy early, they know Draco is an early riser–and make a big, extra special breakfast. They make crêpes with sliced fruits and caramel sauce, because Draco has a sweet tooth but hardly ever indulges in it. Astoria had to shoo away worried house elves the first couple years, but after a while they understand that Mistress and Young Master in the kitchen does not mean they’re doing a bad job. Draco is surprised and touched every single year.
- Con’t. In the same tradition, Draco and Scorpius spend weeks planning Astoria’s Mother’s Day, which will consist of a luxurious spa for her and her sister Daphne the day before, and a family outing on the actual holiday. Scorpius will pick the type of outing–theater, picnic, museum, etc.–and Draco will handle the details. She is always thrilled.
- When Scorpius makes friends with Albus Potter, he writes a letter to Harry Potter within the first week. Albus is, thus far, his only friend, and it certainly looks like it will stay that way for a while. The last thing he wants is to lose that. He writes explaining how grateful he is that Albus is so nice to him, and that Scorpius is not his father, and he promises to be the best friend Albus could ask for. He receives a response the next morning, in which Harry tells him that he was never worried. His son knows how to pick the right sort. Harry also asks Scorpius to give his best to his father.
- McGonagall makes Scorpius nervous for no good reason. Even in the later years, when the air had been cleared concerning his family name, Scorpius was prone to babble in front of the imposing woman, oftentimes before she’d even greeted him in passing. It was, in fact, one of these instances that warmed her up to the young boy. She’d approached him and Albus in a corridor in their first year and politely asked after their general wellbeing, as one does. Scorpius shared with her a very detailed report on this thing called an “iPhone” Albus had told him about, covering everything from gigabytes to color to durability, stating that he intended to ask his parents for one for his birthday. McGonagall, quite taken aback, couldn’t quite bite back her amused grin.
- Draco told Scorpius about his involvement in the war when he was eight. Scorpius had known a little bit before that–he had picked up on the fact that they were treated differently when he was much younger–but he’d never been given details. It was a long and difficult conversation, and when his father was finished, Scorpius had hugged him and told him that he still loved him. It was the first, and one of the only, times Scorpius had seen his dad cry.
- Scorpius did get mad about that years later. In his fourth year, a group of Gryffindors corner him and give him a bloody nose, and spell a quill to draw a sloppy Dark Mark on his arm. It is the final straw. When Draco and Astoria are called to Hogwarts about the incident, Scorpius yells at his father in McGonagall’s office, blaming him for everything, telling him that he hated the fact that they looked so alike and that everywhere he went, someone automatically hated him. Draco said nothing. Scorpius gets special permission from McGonagall that weekend to go home to surprise his parents, and to convince his dad that he didn’t mean anything he said, and that he still loves him.

Bro headcanon of the day
In the summer between their fifth and sixth years, Scorpius and Albus start a gaming channel on YouTube.
Because of course Albus introduced Scorpius to video games, and neither of them are particularly good at them but that doesn’t matter because it’s the banter that people watch for, not actual gaming instruction. Think somewhere between DanAndPhil and Game Grumps. They set up their system in their dorm when they go back to Hogwarts and update every weekend.
When they’re home, Albus’s uncle George is one of their favorite guest stars because he isn’t afraid to let loose his hilarity, no matter how weird it gets in front of his nephew and his friend. They also eventually start trying muggle table games that Arthur gives them.
They’re very careful not to talk about anything magic related; YouTube is a muggle thing, after all. Muggles enjoy the channel because who doesn’t love a good humorous gaming channel with two charming young men with British accents? However, wizards and witches find it so much finnier because they know.
Their families watch it, of course, to support them. Ron will not admit that the episodes make him like Scorpius a little more because of the kid’s sense of humor, Harry tries to use phrases and slang he learns from them in everyday conversation (which kills Albus and makes everyone else laugh), and Draco is just. So confused.
Also, because they’re both aware that their names are super weird, even among the wizarding community, Albus and Scorpius create the channel using the names Henry and Drake.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Fic: In Tears
2k words, G rated
Scorpius is completely lost in a world where Rose doesn’t exist, Albus is forbidden from talking to him, and his mum is still dead. The only place he can go to escape is the Manor, like that’ll be any help at all.
This is a fill-in scene, based on Draco’s line: ‘my son is in tears, and I am his father, so I’m here to ask why you would keep apart two good friends’. I honestly can’t explain why I’ve never written this before, but here it finally is!
The final inspiration to write this came from me rediscovering this great bit of art by @captbexx.
Thanks to @abradystrix for being a wonderfully pedantic beta, and for helping me figure out That One Paragraph, all while battling dodgy internet signal. A true hero.

draco finds a way to save astoria. for her to live, he has to take the curse. so she lives while he is the one being cursed. he trades his life for hers.
“why did you do that, draco?” astoria asks, tears in her eyes.
and he says with a smile, a genuine one, full of unspoken love for the love of his life, “you make being brave very easy, love.”

I’d like to just take a moment to appreciate Astoria Malfoy.
This is the woman who loved Draco Malfoy completely.
Honestly, who knows what kind of mess he was after the war? His family name was mud for both the light and dark sides. He’d been forced into situations that pushed him to reevaluate everything he knew. Not to mention that, whether he dropped the archaic pureblood beliefs or not, he was still an ass. Not being evil doesn’t suddenly make him a sweetheart.
But he met a woman who made him want to be better. She was someone who was removed from his experience of war; he needed to move on. I don’t think he could have married someone he went through that transformative experience with. She was his second chance.
And she got to know him despite his reputation and decided that he was the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with, however long she had left.
Draco loved her enough to outright disobey his parents. He, who esteemed them above anything else. They didn’t approve of her, thought she was unworthy and too progressive, but Draco loved her and so he married her anyway. Not to mention, I doubt the Greengrasses were happy with their daughter marrying their society’s pariah.
She loved Draco enough to give him a child. Knowing that she’d leave him too soon, and knowing that being Draco Malfoy was a terribly lonely thing, she made the choice to give possibly years of her life so that her husband could still find happiness and love after she was gone.
She and Draco made the choice to raise Scorpius differently. He would not be taught to hate, or scorn, or to think himself better. He’d be taught to be happy.
This is why we ship Drastoria. Just because she wasn’t present in the books, does not negate her impact on the continuing story.

Scorpius has fallen on Draco’s chest and has begun to cry : Dad , I am tired . Everyday I listen that you aren’t my father, because I am not quite unlike you(I haven’t your behaviour or grandad’s) . I don’t know…Do you think that I am shame of our family too?
For wizards Draco is a villain, but when man looks his son he starts found father. Words are spoken by son broke his heart. He realy don’t know to say Scorpius:
Scorpius, when I was younger I had maked many bad things. I just want to say I am happy that you haven’t my character. You are you. It is main. I must say it even earlier.
“Pray forgive me for my error.”

I wonder what Draco's reaction will be if or when he finds out how he treated Scorpius in the dark AU? The table slam was hard! At the show I watched, the only thought I had was poor Jonathan. That looked like it hurt.
I don’t think Scorpius tells him at first. He knows what that’ll do to his dad and he wants to spare him from that. But Draco knows when Scorpius isn’t telling him something. He knows it’s bad but he wants to help. Needs to. So eventually Scorpius spills everything. Yet as soon as he says the words he wishes he hadn’t. He immediately rushing out reassurance after reassurance that he knows that wasn’t him. That he’d never hurt him like that. But Draco doesn’t hear any of it, he just asks one single question.
“Were you afraid?”
He knows the answer before Scorpius forces himself to say it. The pain that rushes across his dad’s face hurts Scorpius more than any table slam. His mind flashes back to that room. He sees the shadow of his dad and remembers running backwards. Away from him. Afraid.
He’s barely choked out a sob before he rushes forward and hugs the man in front of him now. His dad instinctively returns the hug and he holds onto Scorpius’s arms tightly. A little too tightly. But it’s not fear that Scorpius feels now. It’s love. It’s comfort. It’s a ‘sorry, please forgive me’. It’s a ‘I’ll do better’.
They were already getting better at communicating but now it’s vital. His dad needs to know his mum was right. He is a better man.
