we are so ableist about memory. people with good memory take for granted the fact that they can recall as much as they can, and use that to taunt, guilt and threaten people with memory issues. many neurotypes and mental illnesses cause memory lapses. traumatic brain injuries can cause memory lapses. brain cancer can cause memory lapses.

even if your memory is good, it's not right to guilt someone because they can't remember something. trust me, people with memory problems are desperately trying to remember: it's just that we literally can't. it is a very literal "i can't remember".

getting disabled over a period of time is so weird, because sometimes i’ll just see something, let’s say about running, and think “i should do that!” and then i slowly realise that i can’t run anymore. i can barely even walk. it’s weird because there wasn’t one event that happened that made me like it. there wasn’t a day where i woke up and couldn’t run anymore. it was slow and gradual. and sometimes i realise how much ive lost that i didn’t even realise because it all happened so gradually. sometimes it feels like yesterday i could run and today i can’t, and sometimes it feels like forever ago that i could.

Autism acceptance includes accepting all autistic manners of communication.

That means supporting autistic people who talk in a "very childish" way. (I do this a lot irl)

Autistic people who do "TV talking" (this means talking like a character from your favorite media,basically talking in quotes and copying their speech patterns,as far as I know)

Autistic people who use echolia.

Autistic people who are very awkward/quirky when they communicate.

Autistic people who are overly technical,or have very sophisticated and articulate speech.

Autistic people who mumble.

Autistic people who talk really fast.

Autistic people who can't control their tone of voice/inflection.

Autistic people who talk in a monotone voice.

Autistic people who use different kind of sounds,or body language to communicate.

Autistic people who talk slowly and draw out their syllables.

Autistic people who use a lot of sentance fillers.

Autistic people who use Aac devices,communication cards,etc etc.

Edit: acceptance of nonverbal autistics is also necessary. Nonverbal people deserve love,respect,acceptance,accommodation and support.

One of the above statements is Problematic and the other is slightly annoying. If we disagree on which is which then working together for a better future is going to get really fucking difficult.

Some people seem surprised by a couple of my cats names, so I'm gonna give some backstory.

I first saw Fridge two years ago when she was a stray. I was walking home from the shop and she started following me, and I had a packet of Fridge Raiders. If you aren't aware, they're a little chicken snack pack thing. Very tasty. Anyway, I gave her one and moved on.

She ended up becoming a regular feature in my life, and I'd give her bits of chicken when I had it. Eventually called her Fridge because of the snacks I'd feed her. And then I also took her in, because she was a stray, and so, so cute, and I wanted to help her.

Turns out she was pregnant.

She gave birth to Adair a little under a month into her time with me. I went around asking people for advice on what to call the new kitten, and got lots of good suggestions. One of those was Adair, because of the company Frigidair (Which I had never heard of up until that point).

Anyway, I found that so funny that now they're Fridge and Adair. I adore them, they're some of the best things that have ever happened to me.
