This seminar will span 4 hours of instruction over 2 consecutive evenings, and will cover the following: GETTING TO KNOW THE WORK AREA TECHNIQUES FOR SELECTING ARTWORK EDITING AND COMBINING SHAPES AND PATHS This class is appropriate for beginners, but a knowledge and proficiency in computers is necessary. Brand new very limited edition super premium #l5r elemental rings! Only two sets available, each one unique! Why limited edition? Because these took way more time and effort than I bargained for. I began by creating an abstract pattern design in Illustrator in reddish and bluish color schemes which I had printed out with a laserjet printer. I then coated those prints in acrylic gel medium, a crystal clear acrylic paint. I also coated a sheet of maple veneer on both sides with the same acrylic gel medium and sandwiched it between the two prints. After drying for a few days I wet the paper and carefully rubbed it away, leaving the toner embedded in the clear acrylic coating. I used blonde shellac to seal and protect the design. I also created elemental designs inspired among other things by Mt. Fuji and The Great Wave off Kanagawa. I cut those designs from 1/16" thick sheets of maple and cherry veneer, and contrasting outer rings from 1/16" walnut and mahogany veneers. All these layers, as well as the rings I cut from the abstract pattern veneer, have 5 perimeter holes which I used to precisely position the five layers with metal pins during assembly. I used a high precision glue applicator to apply Titebond Translucent glue to the relevant areas of veneers, applied clips to create a tight glue bond, then removed the positioning pins. Rings measure approximately 42mm in diameter by 6.25mm thick. They are made of walnut, maple, cherry, and mahogany woods. The abstract color backgrounds are laserjet toner transferred onto maple veneer using an acrylic transfer medium and sealed with blonde natural Indian shellac.
