Sherlock Holmes and the Things That Go Bump In the Night
It's a dark, cold, Halloween night and you're home alone. Instead of going on netflixs and popping in SAW 28 or Paranormal Activity 85, why don't you curl up in bed with a Sherlock Holmes story for all your spooky desires? The Victorian era was an interesting time in England. It was the transistional period between the widespread belief in spiritualism and other supernatural/phantom related subjects, and the public's growing interest in the scientific.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle occassionally delt with this phenomenon in some of his Sherlock Holmes stories. The most famous of which is "The Hound of the Baskervilles!" In other stories the "things that go bump in the night" are not percieved as ghosts or demonic hounds, but do play on the clients, and sometimes Holmes' fear. A mysterious whistle fortells death in "The Speckled Band", and an entire family is driven out of thier minds and killed by fear in "The Devil's Foot".
So this Halloween, treat yourself to a classic tale of horror and mystery by picking up a Sherlock Holmes book and giving it a read. The best part about it, no matter what evil is thrown his way, man made or other wise, we always know Holmes will be there to save the day!

This reimagining approaches the classic characters from an angle we can all relate to. We have all had that close friend/brother/sister who was inseparable from us when we were younger. Eventually however we grew apart after we discovered we wanted different things in life. Add constant life or death situations into the mix and you have the kind of drama that lasts over 100 years!
