There’s a protest at the tip of his tongue, an attempt to defend himself and hang onto the last string of pride he holds, the last connection he has to the outside world beyond the white walls and the ones you create. Like the drops of a substance changing the structure of an element, his intention drops without sound–he feels doused, sunk into the sensation as your teeth scrape his lip.

Dark waves of hair remain glued to his forehead, clear vision coming in and out of focus as his pupils dilate. He tugs at the restraints, eyes wide and glistening yellow, burnt lead spreading like smoke in his iris and settling heavy over his chest. Moments like this with you make him hazy, bring his train of thought underwater before gloom envelops them, muted. He’s there, he’s there–he realises as he fumbles to grip the edge of the headboard, his glistening palm slipping against the wood.

Whew. Okay. I literally kept this in my drafts for like a year because I was about to start a recs blog but we love inconsistency. Anyway hey queen. I was enthralled from the description alone, such a powerful and hard-hitting line to end it and build up for what’s to come.

The world building in this is simply insane, from the variety of each power to the hierarchy to the intriguing side characters and their sub-plots (not to talk about the accuracy that to me seems brought from real life and fitted into their fantasy counterparts, especially with Jungkook’s character. It seems so natural for him to fall for the one he’s supposed to protect). The details in this work make things look so vivid, and the way magic is so tightly connected to all that makes the character whole is, for lack of a better word, enchanting to read.

I didn’t get bored for one single line in either part, and I was so invested on everything that was going on. Not only did I enjoy the steady development in the interactions of the pairing, but also all that it took for OC to see Tae in a new light and start questioning things- I got legit goosebumps (which has almost never happened to me) at the minstrel's song and I felt like I was seeing things in a new light myself? Even though let’s be honest, I would’ve dropped it to the magma layer for Tae good Or evil it was such a pleasant surprise to witness the change since the narration has such believability that it has you eating out of its palm. And Tae, whoo boy that’s fucking another one.

This is my favourite Taehyung to read about. Otherwordly and magnetic, who has the words to rival his beauty and who pulls you in effortlessly. Words as sweet as honey with a tint of condescendingness that only serves to incite you further, who can resist his charm? Both parts kept me at the edge of my seat, and his God character made him so unpredictable throughout each action. You expect him to wreak havoc, yet he disappears. You expect him to remain gone, and he surprises you once again.

The tension is so tasteful. Their gradual closeness, the smut scene, they are done so, so, so tastefully and it adds to them as characters instead of just being there or to serve as ending. The contrast between Taehyung’s coldness and how hot OC felt, the sensory heightening because of the freedom of his magic. I don’t know how I got this far with so many words because I really have none to explain how good this is. You cannot read this objectively, honestly, even if you might like to imagine someone else as the OC and damn I really projected onto that final scene huh.

Anyways. I can’t say more without spoiling the entire thing but wow. Major thanks to my light Chiara for recommending this absolute masterpiece to me and major thanks to Shanna for writing. One from best of the best, objectively. This is definitely one of the reasons why fandom writing should exist.

It wasn’t a matter of who, it was a matter of when, and one of power. A supposed distraction which crawls too deep and makes it uncomfortable either way–the stretch of pulling yourself out of it too empty and painful, the time spent discovering more too consuming and a notch more demanding. Word travels around in big cities if your name carries enough weight, even faster if its heaviness comes from pure metal instead of the alloy they shape in the industry. The words reflect the effect, however unassuming they might be, and with the heavy riffs of a guitar supporting his every claim, it’s possible even for atheists to catch their glimpse of God.

Of course it’s not a matter of who, you chuckle, since there’s only one person who can make everyone feel like this. With the weight of his name pressed against everybody’s lips, a contained sound which catches between them and gets free reign as it is released, it’s easy to pinpoint how their teeth want to grip into it again. The gospels he put out, the ink he splattered and swallowed to build the charm into who he was and stain the raw talent so the corrupted could lose themselves in it–they all served as contour for a distinct identity. His identity. Half boldness and half self-assurance, his rebellion is compelling to watch, since his mouth strictly speaks for his own and never caters. He sings for himself, never for you. But oh, do your loins catch fire when he puts on a show.  

It’s entirely lucky for him and fundamentally damning for you that after the four years in the spotlight, he not only owns up to, but deserves every bit of cockiness that he has.

today on late night contemplations I genuinely wonder how jungkook is bangtan's designated man for the fandom to be "enemies" with or "fight to death" with. its not like he does anything provocative or flirty and neither is he whoring it out on stage (which is sexy and encouraged). like this is not a case of "oh we're fighting" because and he's purposefully doing things to sway you like our boy mini. he's also not blunt like jin or tae so fans can mirror their personalities. hobi and joon don't fit these archetypes either and never in my life I have seen a post like that about them. jungkook's mostly always been a sweetheart and he's so sentimental and fandoms love coddling people like that therefore objectively this is very unexpected. what did he do for so many of his fans to express their love or interest with violent text lmao. kind of weird
