a few of you already know this, most of you don’t. for family and personal life reasons, it took a while for me to be ready to talk about it. my spouse will have their own thoughts to add after this gets posted.

a lot of people have been super supportive of me and my marriage over the years that my spouse and i have been on tumblr, and i’ve been incredibly grateful for it. neither of us had the best experience with our families and we both sought to build our own out of friends as a result. i managed to build a fantastic one here and i love that i can turn to you guys when i need you and talk openly about my life.

so it’s time for me to be able to talk about this too. 

leander (@actuallylukedanes) and i are separated. we’re not getting back together.  

we’re still legally married, and we will be staying that way, unless/until one of us is ready to remarry. we like being each others’ next of kin. we like being married to each other. it’s not a right we’ve always had, so it’s not one we take for granted. 

we’re still living in the same house, and we are still best friends and each other’s person. but we’re not in a romantic relationship anymore.

if you like me, please refrain from sending them anything but love. this is not a tragedy, i promise. this was a mutual decision (after a lot of trying to work things out) to break up but stay family. i’m still grateful to know them, to have them in my life, and to have been with them for so many years. i wouldn’t take any of it back. 

but because that stage of our lives is over, i need to be able to post without worrying that referring to myself as ‘single’ will freak people out. i want to be able to talk about my best friend in the world, who i still hang out with several days a week, and the existence of their partner/gf, without confusing the heck out of everybody because they’re also the person i’m married to but we’re not dating. 

(i’ll still be using my leander tags, because they’ve never stopped being true. so if it’s going to bother you to see me proclaim them the best spouse and mean it in my own way, i’m not sure what you’re doing on my blog. lol) 

mostly, i want everyone who loves and support me to know what’s up. and the truth is, i’m good. i’m okay. i’ve had time to process, and genuinely like the way my life is going. i want my ander to be happy and loved and supported too, just like i always have.

anyway, i’m sure a ton of you do not need to hear about this and do not care because you come here for graphics or fangirling and not my relationship status. :) but for anyone who does, please don’t worry about me. 

my family’s evolving, but it’s still the best i’ve ever had.
