The "why are you getting angry about fandom on the fandom site" award of the day goes to the person that was absolutely seething and spitting with rage over the concept of people having comfort characters. Because "these characters are a fantasy belonging to the creator, not you!!!"

Like, it does become a problem when you start trying to police how others interact with said character like the infamous Raymond Lady on Twitter, but failing that "this character makes The Horrors a little more bearable and I want to hug them" is seriously some of the most basic shit ever? You're policing a really harmless coping mechanism in a very toxic and just plain stupid way. If you can't handle people having an even slightly personal relationship with characters or ""disrespecting the creator's vision"" in any way whatsoever why are you even here.

i hate the way delusions and intrusive thoughts have enough power to destroy my view of people. i will literally be going out of my way to avoid that eventually unavoidable person or similar looking people just because these thoughts are so disgusting and vile and debilitating. while i also have to pretend that i am absolutely not being flashed these disgusting visions into my mind and that i am just going about my day doing my stuff. and it's not something you can easily just avoid when your brain keeps screaming it out loud to you with no room for other thoughts.
