i'm just the right level of sleep deprived to take @softhyungkyun up on her joke prompt but here's a kihyun mlm (multilevel marketing) fic for u
"Even my aunt thinks it's a good idea, y/n." Kihyun was sitting across from you at the table. The dinner he made was mostly finished and getting cold at that point, but still you pushed around an errant grain of rice.
"You're aunt thinks minion memes are still funny, Kihyun." The risotto he made was good. Even the vinaigrette he made for the salad was nice. The garlic bread was a little burnt, though.
Kihyun exhaled slowly. His eyebrows were starting to pull together at your continued indignation toward his proposal. What even is Microbial Bio Life Gel (Patent Pending)? Sure, you have tennis elbow like any other 20-something, but how was slapping glorified aloe vera onto your arm going to heal microtears in your tendons? Your food was definitely cold now.
"My cousin in Houston told me about it, and it really works. You can even get a share of the company stocks!" And then he began pulling out binders filled with spreadsheets, reminding you that he has a friend with a Master's degree in economics.
Kihyun's friend is a menace to society for what he did. Currently, you're sat at a long conference table. The lights are dim so the projector can show the room infographics and sales reports. You love Kihyun, you really do, but right now you're one of the largest share holders at that dumb gel company and are obligated to sit in on share holder meetings. You never got to try their dumb gel, your tennis elbow is currently inflamed, and you don't even know how to sell your stocks so you can get out of these meetings.
Business is lucrative, if the quality of the presentation graphics is anything to go off of. Kihyun got out of the company pretty soon after you started getting more and more stakes in it. He said you could be the breadwinner now while he becomes the trophy husband you dote on at company parties. Luckily, he said this when you were out with friends because someone was able to hold you back before you jumped him. Yes, you still sidled up next to him with a blanket in hand when you got home that night and watched dumb movies together.
You're going to punch him when the meeting is done. You're also going to kiss him because he promised to make your favorite for dinner tonight. But mostly, you're going to punch him. The slides switch over and a guy who insists you call him Andy starts talking about wasted potential and opportunities for growth in untapped markets. You have a video of Andy drunk at a company party that affords you the ability to zone out entirely while he talks. All you want to do is actually try the product you're monetarily invested in, is that too much to ask?
If you don't have my food served on our nicest dishes when I get home from this meeting I am going to sell these stocks as soon as Hyunwoo tells me they're at their lowest, you plaster on a certified customer service smile and nod appreciatively to Andy's charts and graphs as you send off a quick text to Kihyun.

There's been an overall downwards trend on the player ratings across the board and I think that's a fair reflection of the on-field performances. Joe Gomez takes Man of the Match which is well deserved imo. Wijnaldum is the lowest rated starter and I think that's very harsh. Particularly after Henderson went off I thought he was very good.
Title Race
It's still early doors of course, but below are some of the highlights of the teams that have played all four games.
Pos Team GP Won Drawn Lost GF GA GD Points 1 Liverpool 4 4 0 0 9 1 8 12 2 Chelsea 4 4 0 0 10 3 7 12 3 Manchester City 4 3 1 0 11 3 8 10 7 Everton 4 1 3 0 7 6 1 6
Ourselves and Chelsea are (currently) the only two with 100% win records, though Spurs could keep up with us if they win today. I think it's interesting that City are having the start we would have probably have had, all other things being equal. Dropping points against a lower table side away (Wolves/Palace), clearing up at home, putting in goals but not looking 100% at the races. I'm interested to see if that plays out.
On to the comparisons. The chart below displays the cumulative points totals over the four games:
https://i.imgur.com/uQWNhCM.png
We're still well above the average. Interestingly, half the champions over the last 10 years dropped points in their fourth game. If I had (even more) time on my hands I'd look at when international breaks fell in these seasons and if they had a similar split.
The next graph is for goals scored, with Leicester (15/16) in dark blue and Manchester City (17/18) in light blue being our lower and upper figures.
https://i.imgur.com/9F4bccA.png
We're still below the average, but slap bang between Leicester and City.
The final graph is goals conceded. Manchester United are both used for comparisons, with 08/09 (upper) and 12/13 (lower) seasons.
https://i.imgur.com/vplC3b7.png
Ugh I was hoping we'd never see that red line uptick. Anyway, absolutely no issues. We're by far the lowest number of goals conceded.
I've filled out the spreadsheet a bit more so if you want to have a look it's below:

Thoughts
Line Up
Klopp decides to shuffle his pack, and it's Naby Keita who dropped out for Henderson. I think he was looking for more cohesion in the middle against what was likely to be a strong Leicester attack, so he goes with the three he trusted for the majority of last season. Did it work? We won the game, we didn't concede through the middle, so I suppose you'd have to say it did.
Elsewhere, Fabinho was still notable in his absence. I imagine Klopp is targeting the Chelsea League Cup game at Anfield for his first appearance of the season.
Mané Goal
Discussion https://i.imgur.com/PnsBPfl.png This goal is all about Robbo's perseverance. When he picks up the ball in this wide area I think his only thought is to get down the flank and cut it back to the middle of the field where we have a bit of space. https://i.imgur.com/u7lrXRc.png Lmao https://i.imgur.com/2XysFzW.png Now Leicester are in a really bad position. There's an overload in the middle of the box and all that Robbo needs to do is to find a red shirt. https://i.imgur.com/eDSqoq1.png Maguire does get unlucky because his deflection just takes it into Mané's stride, but we had three guys around him at the time so even if he did get good contact on it we would have been in a good position to get the ball back quickly.
Firmino Goal
Discussion https://i.imgur.com/gSKfOI9.png And of course after complaining about our bad set pieces last week we go and score from one this week. It's a dead simple one as well. Firmino is being marked by Madison in the middle, but the key here is VVD. He's going to make a movement towards the goal. https://i.imgur.com/H6fYdc4.png He essentially pushes through Firmino, this draws Madison's attention and leaves Firmino free to escape. https://i.imgur.com/nrA2a8M.png Madison knows he's fucked up. Firmino is left in yards of space right around the penalty spot, and all we need is to find him. https://i.imgur.com/YXiQVPr.png Madison does good work trying to recover but he can't quite make up the ground and Firmino is able to power home.
Ghezzal Goal
Discussion Just going to start with what I said last week: "There are going to be occasions when it goes wrong and we are going to concede as a result." https://i.imgur.com/XDtaMMx.png We need to look at the whole passage of play though, because there are issues throughout. Firstly, Henderson gets the ball here and he has no options. Leicester are pushing up really high and every passing lane is being covered. He lays it off to Gomez, who also has very few options. https://i.imgur.com/9k61uQT.png I think there is a first time ball on to Firmino but he hesitates slightly and Leicester close him down, forcing him to turn back. This is mistake #1 in my eyes. https://i.imgur.com/VkkE7pY.png Gomez does actually evade the press and lays it off to Henderson, who decides to play a first time ball to VVD. This is mistake #2. I think playing it in such a rash manner invites the pressure from Leicester, who can see they're forcing us into errors and rushed passes. Was VVD in space? Sure. However, I think he could have played it out to the wing in the same manner, giving us an opportunity to escape, or just put his foot on the ball for a second. He was being pressed but he had Milner near by in case anything went wrong. This is perhaps a bit of rustiness from Henderson, who at this point was clearly tiring. https://i.imgur.com/DBXuKm6.png Because the pass was rushed it wasn't the greatest ball. VVDs touch also lets him down, and now he's in trouble (mistake #3). He knows that there's a Leicester player potentially running in behind him, and there's a man in front also closing him down. https://i.imgur.com/hD5F4MI.png van Dijk does recover well, and lays it back to the keeper. This, for me, is the biggest mistake (#4). Big Virge is looking up so he knows roughly where Alisson is going to be standing. Now, as a defender you're always taught to play the ball outside of the posts, to prevent comedy own goals, so from a fundamental point he's done nothing wrong. He's also played the ball to Alisson's strong (right) side. However, whilst I can't find a replay from behind the goal it's quite clear that Alisson is moving to his left. He has the football skills to play it on his left. Instead, Virgil plays it quite far to his right and forces Alisson to scramble. https://i.imgur.com/pDNMr1W.png I would love to have a reverse angle replay (if anyone has one please let me know), but this is the last shot I can find that shows the field as Alisson receives the ball. It's quite clear both from Klopp's history and from Alisson's style that we are not just looking to lump the ball forward aimlessly (though, in this case, it absolutely should have happened). So - is there a pass on? I'm not sure there's one that Alisson can see, which is why he decides to try and turn back inside. https://i.imgur.com/Mb2OrBm.png By the time the ball does reach him there's a covering Leicester player which makes and pass down the right hand dicey. Remember - he knows he's out of the goal. He knows that a bad pass to a Leicester play could result in a goal. He also knows that VVD is in a decent amount of room on the other side of the field. If he can turn and play the ball back across the field we might be about to spring a counter. https://i.imgur.com/Qu2c0kg.png He then makes mistakes #5 and #6. He doesn't sell the dummy anywhere near enough so Iheanacho is fully aware of what Alisson is going to try and has already shifted his weight. He also fails to get good enough contact on the ball so it gets stuck under his feet. https://i.imgur.com/xwyZ1aT.png There is a small question as to whether this is actually a foul. I would say (without having watched Serie A for ages) that in Italy it would be such - or at least all the players would crowd the ref and argue that. It would have been soft though. https://i.imgur.com/A4ZIxCm.png He does actually do well to get back in goal, but it's too little too late. This one is bad all round. We were rushed into making decisions that we didn't want to make by Leicester, they forced us into bad positions, and made a few mental errors that cost us. However, I'll go back to what I've said before - there is a deliberate, conscious decision to use Alisson as a ball-playing goalkeeper. This shouldn't be anything new or surprising to anyone. There are lessons to be learned and actions to be taken (from everyone), but don't be shocked when he tries this sort of thing again and again and again. It's literally why we bought him.
Poor Performances == Good Results?
I don't anyone would argue that we've played particularly well in these last couple of games. We got away with one yesterday and could have conceded against Brighton. A lot of people have trotted out the "well last season that would have happened" line but the fact remains that we are getting the results we want whilst playing badly. There's an element of luck running out, but at the same time imagine how good this team could be when they actually play well.
Tottenham
Spurs away could be anything. You never know if we're going to score 5, concede 5, or play out a drab 0-0 draw. In terms of team I suspect a pretty similar team to this one, but with Keita in place of one of Wijnaldum or Milner.
Our next fixture is against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. The match kicks off on the 15th of September at 12:30PM(BST)/07:30AM(ET).

MDN Releases Marcellus & Utica Shale Upstream Almanac 2018
Jim Willis Editor & Publisher, Marcellus Drilling News (MDN)
Have questions about the natural gas industry? The newly released Marcellus & Utica Shale Upstream Almanac 2018 will answer them all with its easy to read data.
MDN is very excited to announce the publication of the Marcellus & Utica Shale Upstream Almanac 2018. The Almanac is a deep dive into the numbers, designed to answer the questions: “Who’s drilling where and how much?” and, “What are the trends? Is drilling going up, down, or maintaining?” It has taken us nearly one year to research and produce this 397-page report.
Using data from the Pennsylvania Dept. of Environmental Protection, Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources, and West Virginia Dept. of Environmental Protection, MDN has produced the only report of its kind, looking year by year at (1) how many Marcellus/Utica wells were spud (drilled or begun to be drilled), (2) how many wells are actually producing, (3) how many permits have been issued for new shale wells, (4) how much production was generated for methane, oil and NGLs.
This information is available year by year for 2011-2017, not only by each individual county where there was any kind of M-U activity, but also by individual driller. We even show detailed data down to the town level. Because we analyze the data year by year using charts to map the data, important trends become obvious. If Marcellus/Utica drilling activity is important to you, the Almanac is THE critical tool that will help answer many of the questions you have.
Who Will LOVE This Report?
Anyone who works for an exploration and production (E&P or “drilling”) company whose job revolves around drilling (engineering, logistics, marketing, management, accounting, landmen) will find this report a must-have reference.
Anyone who works for a “services” company–oilfield services, construction companies, trucking firms, title companies–anyone at “supply chain” companies providing products and services to drillers will find the Almanac a critical tool.
Figure out who’s most active and where. Is drilling activity going up or down? Where are the counties (and towns!) where drilling is picking up? Where is it already mature? New drilling activity requires certain products and services, but don’t overlook those places where drilling happened in the past and now percolates along with ongoing production. Those places need a different set of products and services (banking, wealth management, legal).
How about landowners and rights owners? Yes, you too will find tremendous value in the new Almanac.
Spinning Information Gold Out of Raw Data Hay
Each state environmental agency, PA DEP, OH DNR, WV DEP, makes data about shale drilling publicly available. But the data at each of these agencies lives in multiple/different databases and tables. Permit data is in one table, production data in another. Information about well location (GIS information identifying which town it’s in) is often in yet a different database. It’s no easy nor small task to pour all that data into a single, harmonized database, and then query the data to pull out meaningful numbers. No one else has done what we have done with the data. No one.
After assembling the data (which took months), we were able to construct queries to pull out the numbers we were looking for. Numbers to tell us: How many wells were spud (drilled or begun to be drilled)? How many wells were actually producing? How many permits issued? We were able to plug those numbers into a spreadsheet, like the following:
Click for larger version.
The above is just a portion of the table we created for Allegheny County. We also have detailed numbers for 2011-2014. We first constructed spreadsheets like the above for every county in PA, OH and WV where there was/is measurable M-U activity.
As you can see in the table above, in the light green columns, were also pulled in production information. The Gas column shows how many million cubic feet (Mmcf) of gas was produced in a given year (by driller and by township), Cond means condensate (or NGLs), and Oil.
But then we thought, are there charts and graphs we can use to more easily/quickly understand all of that data? The data in those tables is fantastic and tells the story–but reading row after row of detailed data will make your eyes glaze over. So we started playing and found that by charting the data, all of a sudden it’s like going from night to day, from plain old color TV to ultra high definition 4K.
For each county, we begin with a set of line graphs, which shows us (year by year) the trends:
Click for larger version
Then we took the first graph above, showing spud, producing and permits (numbers of wells in each case) and drilled down further, to reveal the drillers behind the numbers for each of those categories. We use a bar chart for each driller for each year to give you a sense of the ebb and flow of activity. Is a given driller’s number of spud or producing wells going up over time? Down? Staying the same? Is a driller requesting and receiving more permits over time? Have permit requests stopped? All of that information is now quickly understood with a glance:
Click for larger version
Finally, we zoomed in on production information. We use a stacked bar chart which shows each year, one “pancaked” on top of the next, for each driller. By stacking each year, you can see how tall the overall bar is, meaning which drillers have produced the most (or the least) for each category of production: methane (gas), condensate (NGLs), and oil:
Click for larger version
We hope you agree that this is terrific information! We have taken the raw data and have made it useful, pregnant with meaning. Quick and easy to understand and get a sense of what is happening. We’ve done it for each individual county.
Building from the Bottom Up
But we didn’t stop with just the counties. Yes, county by county (there are 64 counties across all three states total) we show a series of up to 9 charts followed by detailed tables with the “raw” data for that county. But then we queried the data for a statewide look. Here’s one example, showing cumulative gas production for all PA counties:
Click for larger version
We also have a chart showing cumulative for all drillers.
Finally, we added all of the statewide data together and produced a series of charts showing the high-level view for the entire region. Here’s an example showing production by state for gas, condensate and oil:
Click for larger version
All of the above to say the Marcellus & Utica Shale Upstream Almanac 2018 is a completely unique report. You won’t find it anywhere else. No one else has put this kind of time and effort into producing a report that catalogs what has happened from the 2011 to the present (as of 2017). This is a must-have report if your job, or your income, depends on the Marcellus/Utica.
We’ve attached a pretty stiff price to the report–$295–in recognition of the time and effort it’s taken to produce it. You can’t get this information anywhere else at any price. We hope you agree it is well worth the money. We offer a money-back guarantee.

Editor’s Note: Jim has put together an incredible body of information on the natural gas industry with this project. Every page is an insight into the Appalachian shale revolution. You can find the answer to every question from every corner of the Marcellus and Utica Shale formations. Moreover, when you look at the data county by county and realize what the revolution has meant for so many and how it’s saving rural America you become ever committed to the cause. I strongly encourage every reader who’s seriously committed or who is involved with the industry to consider purchasing a copy.
