"you never were a very good liar, were you." his voice comes gentle, hands held briefly behind his back, taking small steps closer towards the other. the look within golden hues, he had concern littered across his entire face. a single hand lifts, presses gently against the other's forehead in a gentle manner, humming beneath his breath as the general inspects his temperature.

"just as i thought, you're running hot." there's a nod as he retracts his hand, folding both across his chest, expression shifting into a much more mature and almost stern look. "why didn't you tell me of this sooner? there's nothing wrong with admitting that we need rest every once in a while. please, let me take you somewhere where you can lie down."

There's an amused smirk on Jing Yuan's face, and his tone indicates he believes Dan Feng about as far as he could throw him. Considering the Vidyadhara Elder's abilities that wouldn't be very far at all admittedly. Even he knew that much. So with a small snort he flicked a wrapped sweet at the older man, shrugging as he went back to doodling on a spare piece of paper to avoid looking at the piles of documents begging for attention.

"Well, I don't blame you. They're always so pushy and demanding all the time no matter what it's about." Just thinking about them made Jing Yuan's head hurt. "As a tip though: you're less likely to be caught if you don't look so suspicious, Dan Feng."

"hmm, yinyue-jun." the rookie could feel his cheeks heating up. not like the other male was doing anything especially when his hand stroke his cheek down to his neck. jingyuan was not used to such affection or skin ship in general. he was by far the youngest here and often did he wonder how much yinyue had already seen in his life. "it's just fine," he mumbled a moment later, barely audible but since yinyue was sitting so close to him he should have had no problem understanding the younger male.

eyes peeked upwards before he locked onto the other man's once again, but he really couldn't help feeling nervous. he respected the older male so much, he was truly wonderful and so strong. not to mention, also very very beautiful, almost sinfully though but jingyuan did not ever think of telling.

He didn't expect to gain a form once Dan Heng had decided his own path. No, he didn't expect to gain one since his exile and forceful rebirth. Alas, the grand concept of fate has granted him another chance. He has become quite good at hiding himself, letting Dan Heng take the fall for everything. Perhaps there will be a day he'll be able to speak to his reincarnation about that.

For now, in the dead of night while the General works, he slips into the Divine Foresight. Purposefully letting his heels click against the floor as he nears the desk, his hands remain at his side. Did the general notice him before he got to this point? It wouldn't surprise the Vidyadhara if he did, and just let him come forth. There is doubt that the Cloud Knights would let the man in on their own.

HMM…A GOOD MOVE. Neuvillette hadn’t played anything like this in a very, very long time. Although what Jing Yuan had been teaching him was similar to chess – a game he was most intimately familiar with, and yet – it was also thoroughly different too.  ❝Ah, I had been so focused on the other piece I believed you would move, that I had not expected you to take such a daring maneuver. Well played, Jing Yuan.❞ The game had been quite close, yet even so, he hadn’t notice even a hint of unease on the other’s face. Perhaps that was because he had already staked on Neuvillette choosing that particular piece. ❝I should have known that there was a trap set. You are quite good at setting those up, and so that was a slip on my end. A lesson well learned for next time.❞

     THAT WAS PHRASING THAT he didn’t quite understand. Not so much the words so much as the overall meaning when it came to Jing Yuan. What did they mean by closer? The other man was already privy to being able to enter his office and speak to him even during his busier moments; a luxury not often afforded to many. ❝I had assumed we were already fairly close.❞ But then again, the depended on what the other party desired of a relationship, wasn’t it? Were they looking for heartfelt discussions and the like? Neuvillette wasn’t quite sure…that was his area of expertise, although this was not to say that he wouldn’t at least attempt for their sake if he came across as a certain way to them without such being an intent. ❝If I made you feel otherwise, then please forgive me.❞

     THOSE EARS WERE…MOST curious. He had always thought as much, though never made mention of them now that they had long since been revealed. Although hesitant to just reach out and touch them, he was curious as to whether they would twitch like the ears of any beast one might lay their eyes upon. Reaching out, he brushed gloved fingers against one, unable to feel how fluffy they were, yet knowing all the same that they must have been quite soft. ❝Hmm…fascinating.❞

While admiring his new attire, Jing Yuan thanks Chiori, before paying the agreed amount. It was short notice, but he's glad to have something to wear during the festival, and to finally have an outfit from Fontaine. Though, he can only wear it for such special occasions. ❝ Thank you. ❞ He takes his leave, and heads straight for Neuvillette's office. Once he arrives, the general knocks before entering, once permission is given. ❝ Busy as ever I see. ❞ He wonders if the other will be able to enjoy the festivities, but more importantly, will the Iudex notice his outfit?

     THOUGH MOST OF THE time when one entered Neuvillette’s office, they would usually catch him immersed in various documents and letters neatly stacked upon his desk. However, this time, it was actually fairly clear for once, and rather than a letter in his hand, instead, he had his chalice of water instead. Taking a sip, he had been enjoying the natural flavor of it before Jing Yuan had come to visit, the Iudex pausing for a moment upon taking note of their general appearance. Huh…he didn’t often see them outside of their usual outfit, so this was rather surprising. Had he been immersed in his work, he certainly wouldn’t have even taken notice of this change at all. ❝Not as much as usual,❞ he admitted, gently placing his chalice back down. Quiet, he said nothing further for a moment’s time until curiosity made him break the silence. ❝You do not often change your usual Liyue wear. I am guessing you did so for the sake of the festival?❞

     Yes, he knew of it, and though he could certainly attend, he had decided to, instead, stay inside and work as per usual. ❝If you are here for such, I hope you enjoy it. They tend to be quite lively, and this year, specially prepared fireworks from Inazuma will be used at the behest of Furina.❞ ‘Festivals should be grand! They should wow the people so they speak of it for days on end!’ she had told him many a time each year that passed. This he could not disagree with. Festivals should be grand, and so he left the preparations to her since such things were outside of his expertise. From his window, he would catch sight of them when they finally took to the sky, igniting it with thousands of beautiful sparks come to life.

It is quite popular, I hear.❞ Neuvillette didn’t mind sweets, but he wasn’t particularly keen to them himself. They were best enjoyed in moderation and with less sugar, in his opinion. However, he could say with confidence that those cakes were perfect for even his palette. ❝Sedene, the melusine who often shows you to my office, knows exactly when they will be running out. If you speak to her, she may be able to help you gain a slice, if you so wish.❞

As the only judge, his work was seemingly never endless, but he had become so used to routine that it was difficult for him to remember to stop, breathe, and take in the sun. Sedene and the other melusines occasionally came to remind him to take a break, but, of course, they had their own duties to attend to throughout the day as well. ❝Do remember that you may visit me if you ever need to. Time can, and will, be set aside.❞

They may have to go through red tape like any other 'bureaucrat', but he doubted that the other would be an issue. ❝I suppose, based on their reactions to you, that means you are trustworthy, General Jing Yuan.❞
