chuang asia (chuang 2024) has just announced their list of trainees! as usual someone made a quick facts thread for the 18+ girlies so here are some trainees i'll be watching based solely on vibes :)

my main picks at the moment are xueyao, yiyu, rjing, & akina, but i'm sure thing will shift, as they always do!

jessica (03) is a trainee under sole u entertainment, although it's unclear what her specialty is. i noticed her because she looks a bit more mature than is typical on these shows! ig: twinkletwinklejessica

zeng xueyao (01) is kinda my main pick right now, she was great on chuang 2020! it's always exciting when chuang trainees breathe lol

maliya (02) / maria - not much is known about her, but like jessica i like her vibe, we'll see though!

p.amp (02) / pam is an actress, not sure what her vocal/dance abilities are. i like her vibe! ig: ppammelar

yuan ke (03) deleted her ig lmfao but she went to shanghai musical theatre academy so im expecting Vocals. she's also done some modeling work which makes sense because she's gorgeous

pailiu (99) is a thai-vietnamese model & influencer who competed in Miss Thailand. not sure if she can sing or dance but she kinda slays anyways for now so let's see. ig: pailiuuur

anh sang (06) is a former sgo48 member. she plays piano & is an okay singer (like elyn she has a nice voice but likely minimal training). ig: nguyenlengocanhsang

yiyu (02) was on the great dance crew & is a confirmed member of A class (or whatever they're calling it this season). her dance videos are really great, it seems like popping is her specialty

r-jing (03) is a former sm trainee who left when aespa was finalized. she was on the voice kids & she's an amazing singer. ig: rjing_jeeranan

elynn (02) is a youtuber & influencer. she naturally has a really sweet voice but hasn't trained formally as far as i can tell. she plays the guitar & the piano though, which is cool. ig/yt: elynleonggg

ninnint (02) is a model & dancer. her singing voice is just okay but her vibe is so fun to me idky. ig: ninninttt

preemmy (04) is a model & a friend of p.amp's. idk what her performance experience is but she's sooo pretty idk. whoever styled her duting the pfp shot is an opp tho. she's also a huge fan of into1 so this myst be really exciting to her, lmfao. ig: p.preemmyy

akina (99) is the lead vocalist & main dancer of the jpop group faky! her vocals are fantastic and im looking forward to seeing how she does! i hope they never style her like in this profile again though 🙏 ig: akina_faky

ikema ruan (04) is the theme song center & competed on gp999. it'll be crazy if she has a miu arc (gp999 → theme song center (pdj s3) → in debut line for the whole show)

shye (02) is a singer & producer from singapore. i didn't know her before this but im really enjoying what im hearing from her! if i had to guess i'd say she's on this show for exposure since her style is a lot more alt leaning. since it introduced me to her though i guess the plot worked! ig: shye.mp3

pream (06) is a dancer and a confirmed member of A class. she was a member of the girl group celeste before they disbanded and she's currently under gmmtv record. based on celeste's only song she seems to be a rapper & a dancer. ig: im___.preme

the csr girlies need no introduction so i won't introduce them lmfao. i hope that this brings them some attention but i don't think any of them debuting would be good for their group tbh. don't really understand the decision but 🤷🏿‍♀️

Chuang Asia Thailand Episode 1!

It’s been too long since I got into a survival show lol. I mean my last one was Girls Planet 999 and that was 2 years ago! So anyway I’ll be taking you all with me on this journey by posting the notes I took while watching the episode plus my current top 9. Spoilers ahead!!

•First off before you ask where I’m watching: it’s on the Tencent Video app and it’s free. Ooh and if you’re also watching pls let me know so we can talk about it together!

•I’m happy to see Nene as a mentor! I loved her when I watched Chuang 2020

•This is produced by Jackson Wang? They’ve got TEN??? Okay Chuang Asia I’m interested.

•Looking at the contestant list and of course there are 14 year olds. Don’t vote for the 14 year olds you guys. My personal age minimum for voting is gonna be 17 so I won’t consider anyone younger than that. Contestants that are over 18 get my preference though. The idol industry is bad enough for adults, I’d prefer if we didn’t debut minors as well. I know ironic coming from someone who ults Yeseo lol. (She was the youngest active kpop idol when she debuted in Busters.)

•Also they're really going hard with this being international. This makes Mnet look pathetic for what they did in Girls Planet lol.

•Oh the flirting part with Jasmine was so akwarrrrrrd. 100% secondhand embarrassment.

•I felt bad for Elyn when she was crying and said “No Filming!” But they proceeded to just zoom in on her crying face :( TURN THE CAMERA AWAY FROM HER!

•The trip.com ads are so funny to me because these survival show ads where they pretend to use a product are usually for stuff like snacks or beverages or makeup. But they’ve got these girls pretending to casually book a flight lmao

•The barbie group having only one member thats older than 16 and then proceeding to perform Barbie World where they say stuff like “that pussy so cold” and “he spank me when I get bad” -_- Someone should have made them pick another song.

•OOOH the Avex group’s performance of Left Right was great. Maybe the best of the episode although Mindy was really impressive too.

•Ilene’s little fan moment with Jackson was adorable!

•They announced the first top 9 but I feel like we’re still missing some performances?? Is that an editing thing to get that ranking in the first episode and we ares still going to get more next episode or did they just skip some people? Like I don’t think we saw Ruan and I was waiting for her. I could have sworn there were some CSR members too and I haven’t seen them perform either. I guess we’ll see.

• I watched the theme song on YouTube and it’s so cute!! Weird that it’s all about summer when this is airing in winter though. Is it summer in Thailand?? I thought they were above the equator. Okay yeah they are so idk why they’re singing a song about it being summer. Also I got spoiled for Ruan center! Now I know they wouldn’t just skip her. There’s got to be more intro round performances next episode.

•Okay so my Top 9 picks will be based on who performed in this first episode only so I’m sure it’ll change a lot after ep. 2.

1. R-Jing - She blew me away in the extra performance. Her singing was so pretty! She’s so cute too and apparently trained at SM?? I always latch onto a girl first episode and this is my girl!

2. Akina - Maybe it’s bc of her experience in her past group but she seems really comfortable on stage. I like her vibe and she’s clearly very talented. She seems really nice and down to earth.

3. Rinka - I looked back at her gp999 performances and I can see why I didn’t remember her. She seems to have improved so much though! Her voice stood out positively and she’s got some star power I didn’t see in her old performances. I’m excited to see more of this new Rinka!

4. Lissa - I don’t know how to feel about her strange vibe but I liked her performance. Lots of energy and a nice voice. I’m very intrigued by her at this point.

5. MingMing- such a clear and pretty voice!!! Her and Pangjang together were both the vocal highlights of their team’s performance but MingMing is the only one of the two thats over my voting age limit.

6. Mamcú - Really interesting and beautiful voice. Apparently she competed on the Voice?? We’ll need to wait and see how she does with dancing but she seems really earnest about her desire to he an idol not just a singer so I’ll put my faith in her!

7. Shye - We barely got to see her performance but I was intrigued by what we saw. I don’t know if she can dance yet but I’ll find out soon enough. And lets be real, I have a lil crush on her and thats enough to get you in the top 9 at this point in the game. I mean look at her in her leather jacket!

8. Emma - Her dancing was great and she choreographs her own stuff too! I was really impressed by her dance skills both in her extra performance and the dance battle!

9. Tegan - gorgeous gorgeous deep voice! She’s so pretty too! I really liked her but I have no idea if she can dance. I feel like if she could she would have shown it since she got two performances so I’m hesitant.

Honorable Mentions:

Krista Shim - I’m not voting for Krista because she’s under the age I decided on being my voting limit but honestly I’d put money on her making it to the final group. You can just tell with these shows. It's in the way they edit it.

Mao Xiu Ling & Mao Xiu Ting - Of course we have a pair of twins! I’ve always loved this survival show gimmick. I love their look and their dance together was really cool! 

Kaylen - The other half of the Hawaiian Duo! Kaylen pulling Jackson Wang up to the stage with her was such a power move. I didn’t like her solo performance as much as her partner Tegan’s though

Praew- I liked her energy when she introduced herself and then her dancing was insane! I will not be voting for her because she’s 15. She's just a baby.

Etienne’s Top Fives of 2022: Kpop Edition - Rookies

Getting started with my top fives for 2022 with Kpop rookie groups that I really enjoyed this year. If you want to see what other lists are in store, you can find that linked in my about me section (along with ones for previous years).

For the rookies list in Kpop, I’m not counting unit groups from inside a pre-existing group (those get lumped in to the body of work for their groups). This list also does not include redebuts (where all members are redebuting) because the ones of those that made my list were established enough that I thought that they fit better elsewhere. To be clear, I’m using Rookies to mean “groups that had their debut during the 2022 calendar year.”

This wasn’t a year where I have a huge huge list of rookie groups, but some of the ones that caught my attention really caught my attention and could probably make a go for my top 5s lists in non rookie categories honestly. So I’d say it’s been a pretty good year for rookie groups overall.

Here’s a shoutout to the groups that made my preliminary list (this is in order of when I encountered them and lists their debut year MVs that I watched and enjoyed): ILY:1 (“Love in Bloom” / “Que Sera Sera”), CLASS:y (“Shut Down”), TrendZ (“Who” / “Clique”), Tan (“Walking on the Moon”), Irris (“Wanna Know”), and CSR (“Pop? Pop!”)

I really enjoyed &Team’s debut (and I was pre-invested because of the I-land competitors that I was excited to see debut). Overall, I’ve liked their music so far (though there’s not a lot of it), and they are good performers that I can tell I’m going to enjoy continuing to watch. They weren’t in contention for this main part of the list because they are technically Jpop and slated as such, though debuted through Hybe, but I felt remiss leaving them out entirely.

5) Younite

I was excited for Younite because I was happy to Eunsang getting his proper debut in a group that will hopefully last pretty well. I was fond of him in PDX101 and X1, and I was really hoping that he would get a proper chance to actually get a debut that wouldn’t be mired in problems (and all the downsides of competition shows). I’ve really enjoyed Younite’s cuter/brighter concepts so far, and they seem to mesh pretty well as a group, so I’m looking forward to seeing what they do next!

Biases: Eunsang, Eunho

4) Kep1er

I had complicated feelings about this group going in. Yujin is one of my CLC biases, and her going on GP999 was sort of the moment where I knew for absolute sure that CLC was coming to an end, but I also really like Yujin, and really liked Xiaoting already from Chinese competition programs that she’d been on, and was curious about other people on the show. I didn’t watch GP999 (just some of the performances with people I was already interested in), but when Yujin and Xiaoting both made it into the group, I checked out Kep1er’s stuff, hopeful that they’d do well for themselves. I’ve been happy with their music and enjoying their stuff overall so far! So at least I’m glad that it looks like this is providing a strong path forward for Yujin and the others.

Biases: Yujin, Xiaoting, Bahiyyih 

3) NewJeans

Here’s another group where I went in nervous, but for a completely different reason. They’re so young! I do appreciate that their concepts and styling have been geared to their age and from what I’ve seen of their behind the scenes stuff, they seem comfortable and allowed to act their age. I really like their songs, and they’ve got incredible voices, especially for how young they are they are so stable. They’ve also got good choreos, and a lot of stage presence. This group is going places. I appreciate that they really seem to have good group dynamics. I’ve liked every song that they’ve released so far, except “Cookie.” But so far, “Hype Boy” (above) has probably been my favorite, though their new release “Ditto” is giving it a run for its money on that front. This is definitely a group that I look at and go “babies” though. I look forward to watching them grow up more and accomplish new things, and I’m pretty sure that I’m going to be so proud of them!

2) Tempest

This is a group that I was so excited for! I loved Hanbin on I-land, and I’ve loved LEW and Hyeongseop since they were on PD101S2. This group 100% came through with a bright, strong, very them sound from the start. They’re fun to watch, great performers, and have for me a no skip discography so far (very rare for me). I dithered between “Bad News,” “Taste the Feeling,” and “Can’t Stop Shining“ (above) for their representative song because all three really represent for me the sound of Tempest that I enjoy so much. I’m really excited to see where this group goes as they keep making more music!

Biases: Hyuk, Hyeongseop, LEW, Hanbin

1) Le Sserafim

I have been looking forward to Yunjin’s debut for so long! And Le Sserafim absolutely nailed it this year for me. I love their sound! I love the way they work their voices together! I’ve really enjoyed their behind the scenes stuff and group dynamics. They had a rough start with controversies and losing a member to them, but they’ve come through strong and with an excellent sound. I absolutely think that they’re just going to keep getting better. I love how they’ve at times incorporated Yunjin’s opera training and Kazuha’s ballet training into their performances and overall body of work. I love that they’ve already got members involved in songwriting. Yunjin’s self composed song “Raise y_our glass” that they made basically a little MV for is spectacular (https://youtu.be/7hBf9Fxsg6M). I’m looking forward to what they do next as a group!

Position in the group: ace. Is lowkey shy but surprises everyone with her talent.

GP999 Ranking: 3rd.

The beating of my heart grew louder by each passing second. I couldn’t take it anymore. My eyes shut tight, hands squeezing Yurina and Xiaoting on either side of me, praying - just praying, that my name would be called.

As the moment drew on longer, with the suffocating programme music only working to discomfort all of the candidates who stood exposed on the stage, I was sure that my name wasn’t going to be called. Based on my previous rankings I’d been able to maintain an average of around 5 to 6, but now we were down to 3rd place. And I still haven’t been called. By now I’d already accepted defeat, and this just made me squeeze Yurina’s soft hand tighter.

The beat of the programme music finally slowed, signalling a build up to the reveal. I felt the girls around me tense up and for a moment I did, too.

“Yoon Byeol! From Starship Company! Congratulations!”

The announcer’s words had barely even registered in my head when I was suddenly swarmed with hugs, my small body being pushed around. I must’ve looked like a deer in headlights to the audience because it took at least five seconds to clock onto what had happened.

It was me. I was 3rd place. I was going to debut in the final lineup.

Then without warning tears streamed from my eyes like a waterfall, my knees buckled and I simply allowed myself to drop to the floor. My years as a trainee hadn’t gone to waste. I thought of the blood, sweat and tears it took me to even get into this competition, the endless hours of training and mountains of emotional breakdowns suddenly materialised into this blessed award in front of me. I gathered myself up from the ground, clutching onto the other girls in K-group whom I knew would be devastated by their own failure to debut.

Soon, the second and first place trainees were announced. The debut lineup looked perfect to me- I had performed in groups with all of them at least once and I got on with them just fine. From the third highest platform on the lit up lineup stage, I glanced down at Hikaru, making a silly face that I knew would put her in a fit of laughter.

Now the 10th, and final member was about to be announced. I felt a kicking sensation in my chest that perhaps I wasn’t going to be able to debut with Yurina, an (intimidatingly) pretty trainee from J-group who I became close with during my time here.

“Shen Xiaoting from C-group! Congratulations!”

And this was how our group, Kep1er, was formed.

“Hikaru-ya!!!” Yujin hollered at the top of her lungs.

By now I was getting used to the constant level of noise our group upheld.

The ten of us (or nine, since Hikaru was running around in front of the camera), were standing in our designated spots, waiting for our first Vlive to take place. Though I never liked to admit or show it, I was feeling rather nervous as this was the first time we were being revealed to our fans. I had worries that perhaps I wouldn’t be noticed among the ten girls, that maybe I got into the final lineup out of pure luck rather than likeability or talent.

Still, Yujin sounded from the centre, giving us all a firm “fighting!” with a raised fist as a boost of confidence. Five members sat down on stools at the front, while five stood behind them, that included me. I was standing on the right hand side at the very end, but luckily I was still captured in frame. Bahiyyih was the member seated in front of me, and she tilted her head back in her seat to gesture for me to cup her face from behind. Hiyyih and I had gotten pretty close over the past few weeks.

There were still a few members that I wasn’t completely close with yet, however: Chaehyun, Yeseo and Xiaoting. My closest friends in the group right now are probably Shiro, Hiyyih, and Hikaru, because us ‘foreign-liners’ have stuck together to improve our Korean skills.

Thank God for Shiro unnie.

I’m Korean, but I grew up in London, and even though I speak Korean frequently with my parents, I still need to get used to the modern lingo.

Shen Xiaoting unnie is also part of the foreign line, she’s from China. But honestly I haven’t been able to speak to her that much since there are just so many members in our group. I remember seeing her for the first time at the programme evaluations, and I was simply mesmerised even when she wasn’t doing anything. Tall and beautiful, fair and doe-eyed. Naturally, she’s taken the visual position in the group.

When the managers decided that my designated standing position from now on would be next to her, I immediately searched for my highest platform shoes just so that I didn’t look like a dwarf in comparison. There’s something intimidating about beautiful people, especially kind beautiful people, which Xiaoting unnie definitely is.

Just then, the red dot on the camera appeared and we were live.

We all flashed our most enthusiastic smiles as Yujin unnie greeted, “1, 2, 3!” which was our sign to bow deeply for the audience.

“Catch your eye! Catch your mind! Hello we are Kep1er!”

I made it a point to wave both my hands happily at the camera, trying to appeal as much as I could to the fans. Xiaoting did the same, and we glanced at each other and briefly giggled at how she’d copied me.

My arms dropped back down to my sides, and as Xiaoting followed, her hand landed next to mine, causing them to brush slightly.

We went over the Vlive prompts together as a group before the live had started, so that we knew what we were supposed to talk about. First, we were to appeal to our fans by introducing ourselves in an aegyo-like manner.

Another thing to be nervous about.

Aegyo is one of those things where you’re either good at it or you’re absolutely rubbish. It takes a level of confidence, but it still needs to feel unprepared and easygoing if it’s to appear as truly cute.

Certainly not one of my fortés. But I was definitely looking forward to Yeseo’s since she’s the cute maknae, and Hiyyih’s because I knew she would find a way to make all of us laugh.

It was sure that at least half of our group were good at aegyo. The five of us who weren’t so good, however, managed to push the others to take the hit for the team and go first.

The plan ended up backfiring though because it just meant that the actually cute members of the team set the standards ridiculously high for the rest of us.

Our turn had eventually circled around, and once the camera had approached Xiaoting’s face, she turned to me and shook my shoulders so that I could comedically revel in her pain.

I sensed that our friendship with each other would be based on our small acts of skinship in front of the camera.

The funny part was, it took Xiaoting at least two tries before she actually managed to calm herself down ready to do it, as she kept laughing whenever she was about to start. And when she did start, she messed up on some Korean words during her greeting which made the aegyo level shoot right up. She finished by cupping her cheeks and smiling prettily for the camera, naturally making the rest of us swoon over her beauty.

The applause after her turn only worked to remind me that after the clapping ended, the burden would then be transferred to me. I took a deep breath, grabbing Xiaoting’s risk as if it were my life support and blurted the only cute thing that came to mind. The ‘gwiyomi’ song.

It ended up being a bigger hit among the members than I had anticipated, and I too, finished with a pose that I made sure to emphasise the two deep dimples either side of my cheeks.

“Wah,” Youngeun sounded from the front as she gazed up at me with widened eyes. “Byeol unnie is so pretty!”

Hiyyih turned around and began hitting me on the arm because I had made her cheeks turn a bright pink shade.

“We’re dimple twins!” Mashiro dug her pointer fingers into her dimples too, which I copied.

The best compliment I received, however, was the lowering presence of Xiaoting beside me, who leaned over to my ear and whispered, in broken Korean…

“You look pretty when you smile. You should smile more.”

~team 1~ line-up: kim hyerim, huh jiwon, kim chaehyun, ma yuling, chiayi, li yiman, okuma sumomo, yamauchi moana, kuwahara ayana

my opinion: ok they absolutely slayed this one and definitely deserved the mcountdown performance, because everyone shined here. hyerim is an amazing main vocal and their team dynamic made me smile. kinda salty about moana not getting recognized and jiwon as a center made me cringe a tiny bit but i'll let it slide haha

my opinion: what's with the sein hate? she's fifteen, literally younger than me and a great vocalist. yes, she was a bit fast and that kinda brought the performance down, but she's a literal child! damn! doah as a center was sO cringy i almost cried laughing but overall my once ass is kinda satisfied

•how you like that teams•

~team 1~ line-up: choi yujin, seo youngeun, lee yeongyung, cai bing, shen xiaoting, xia yan, inaba vivienne, kawaguchi yurina, may

my opinion: i don't want to seem rude, i'm pretty sure they worked hard and all that, but the performance was...mediocre? i'm not talking about the mistakes, those are ok, they're humans but yujin, yurina and vivienne were almost invisible. tbh, the only one that i really loved in this performance was xia yan.

~team 2~ line-up: yoon jia, sim seungeun, kim dayeon, zhou xinyu, chen tzuling, wu tammy, shima moka, ando rinka, sakurai miu

my opinion: this is probably the most forgettable performance out of all 11. nothing stood out to me besides their kinda good facial expressions. so much wasted talent. they did ok, but definitely not outstandingly good to win.

•fiesta teams•

~team 1~ line-up: lee sunwoo, kang yeseo, choi yeyoung, poon wingchi, huang xingqiao, chen hsinwei, hiyajo nagomi, sakamoto mashiro, kubo reina

my opinion: fiesta teams were done dirty with screentime but this one was really good, considering fiesta is in a ridiculous key! sunwoo should’ve got the planet pass, she did great, reina vocal queen and for once i agree with the judges about xingqiao, she improved so much! mashiro stood out to me the most.

mvp: sakamoto mashiro (j-group)

~team 2~ line-up: huening bahiyyih, kim yubin, suh jimin, hsu nientzu, lin shuyun, wang quiru, sakamoto shihona, nakamura kyara, ito miyu

my opinion: oh, boy. here we go. first, i don’t understand why judges didn’t suggest a main vocal change when miyu’s throat was so damaged from the high note, which ruined the already mediocre performance. on the brighter side, jimin and bahiyyih did great and were really stable! still, none of these girls had a chance to show off.

•ssfwl teams•

~team 1~ line-up: kim bora, ryu sion, lee hyewon, chang ching, zhang luofei, liang jiao, terasaki hina, hayase hana, nagai manami

my opinion: this is definitely my fav performance from this mission - everyone had their few seconds of fame, they complimented each other a lot and at one point they looked like a debuted group, especially when bora and luofei did the highnote. lalalalalala~

~team 2~ line-up: joung min, cho haeun, lee rayeon, liang qiao, ho szeching, cui wenmeixu, hayashi fuko, kanno miyu, oki fuka

my opinion: both ssfwl teams were actually bearable, even though i don’t like this team’s vocals that much. rayeon carried in vocals but again, i can’t get through the performance without being annoyed at mnet giving them black outfits instead of something actually fitting the dreamy concept, eh.

my opinion: i’m kinda unsure if i find this adorable or ,,way too much’’ lol. yes, the concept is supposed to be like that but tbh i think myah overdid it a little bit, but she fit the concept and definitely made her team win, she’s super charismatic! another person that i’d love to highlight is kotone, she’s main rapper material. overall, i think the win was deserved.

my opinion: i might be biased but they did amazing if we don’t count yaning’s eyebrow (im sorry yenny ily) and tbh, hikaru overdid it a little. jiyoon and shana are main vocal material and this performance made me a diehard ruiqi stan. the one that surprised me is dayeon, she did quite well with the vocal parts.

(about gp999) I really wanted the “we are” team to win for the 3 person group, but I like mashiro and jiwon so oh well 🥲 and Im kind of upset that “salute” won - the “ice cream” team had great synergy and a more exciting performance to me, and it seemed like the judges just voted for girl crush concepts. I do think mnet edited some of the stuff about cai bing (like I wish they showed how they ended up rearranging for the final performance, as it seems she did give away a lot of parts), but I do think her attitude and leadership was pretty bad and her teammates’ frustration was obvious, so hopefully she works to improve her communication and ability to work in a team. I feel like sometimes some contestants forget that while it is a competition, their end goal is to be in a group 😅 anyways - what were your favorite performances? And are you looking forward to the upcoming original songs? ☺️💗

i agree i liked we are a lot!! manami didn’t stand out to me much before but she really surprised me in that performance. and agreed again lol like i said earlier i didn’t like ice cream but salute wasn’t that memorable for me in comparison.

and agreed once again about cai bing lol. i’m sure her situation was made to look worse than it was because mnet is known for doing that, but it was also clear her teammates were frustrated with her too. i’m sure the language barrier and all the other stresses of the show played a part. it’s a pity cuz i really like her but i don’t know if she’ll survive to the next mission now.

+ yes i am really looking forward to the original songs!! there were a couple i liked from the previews but i can’t remember the titles so i’ll have to look them up again lol. the original songs are my fav part of the produce/girls planet series bc it usually helps me really narrow down my top trainees. i’m excited to see how it turns out!!

okay, well today was fine. I got up nice and early to go to the office. Court was an absolute zoo- today was the first day back after the 3 week continuance of all the cases, and of course they also decided it was the first day without court managers (I don't know why on earth they would think that was a good idea to do at all), so it's now all on the judge to control Zoom, and instead of putting everyone into breakout rooms and calling the cases in one by one, everyone just gets admitted to the courtroom at once and has to wait for their case to get called. absolute madhouse. and of course on top of all of that, I had 3 cases up in 2 different courtrooms at 3 different times. so a giant fucking mess. the first one went pretty well thankfully, better than I expected, so that was good, and we moved on to the second courtroom. that judge is notoriously slow on cases, so my 10 am didn't end up getting heard until about 11:40, and then had to wait another hour for my 11 am to get heard, at which point we were the absolute last ones left in the zoom room. that was a potentially contentious motion on a case that's had a million motions filed by the dude, but I just had a weird feeling he wasn't going to show, and he didn't, so our motion got granted. now I'm just waiting for in a month or so to get successive and repetitive motions to vacate filed for the next two years, lol, so that's going to be fun. so by the time I got out of court, it was 1 pm. I was of course also running clinic, but it had thankfully been pretty quiet (just one case). So I reviewed some stuff on that and just kinda hung out until our 3 pm meeting, which went pretty well. things were still pretty quiet after that, so I ended up heading out around 4:30 since I had nothing to do lol. when I got home my roommate was already there, so we watched the rest of the episode of girls planet 999 we started last night, and then some of the second episode until 7:20 when I recorded a podcast episode. I chilled for a bit after that, then ended up talking to my roommate for a while more about some gp999 stuff (pictures mostly) that got released. I majorly fell down the rabbit hole with this show very quickly lol and am now very deep in the fandom. the first elimination episode is getting released at like 6 am our time tomorrow morning, but I have to wait until my roommate gets home from work to watch it and hopefully avoid spoilers, but I'm dying to find out who got eliminated, lol. I stayed up a bit longer after that and then started getting ready for bed and showered, and now I'm here and getting tired, it's about to be 1 am so time for bed for sure. Goodnight friends. Urgh I don't really like the editing of gp999 in general already. Emphasizing and repeating the mistake for some participants, either small or big to makes it looks worse especially for the participants 🤨

Of course mnet gonna address Huening siblings, I hope people they edit it nicely and not make people too hard on them. I want to protect them, they've gone through much just with the fact that they're mixed-race.

Some people already think Bahiyyih have advantage for having kpop idol brother (siblings but they don't even mention or acknowledge Lea so..) when there are some participants who already debut that must have more advantage and supporter than her.

Also I thought she's gonna rank higher because she's pretty stable during performance.

okay, well today was chill. I'm WFH on fridays and didn't have court until 10, so I slept in a bit with periodic checks to my phone and resetting my alarm, but managed to fuck that up and woke up at 9:57 lol, which I suppose is fortunate timing. my boss ended up also being in the zoom courtroom, so it was good I was there for sure. so that went fine, and I did various other work things for a while, made an instacart order, put some laundry in and such. I had a deposition in the afternoon that was entirely pointless, basically just a preview of the cross examination at eventual hearing, which is pretty much what I was expecting. so that was that. the rest of the afternoon was pretty chill, I started on dinner which turned out really well, and when my roommate got home we watched the new gp999 episode, which was interesting lol. I thought Utopia did really well, I'm become super attached to Bora in a very short period of time haha so I'm really hoping she makes it through to the finale (if she doesn't make it on votes, I'm positive she's getting the planet pass, so I think the odds of that happening are pretty high fortunately). After the episode we just chilled out for a bit until roommate went to bed. I played my game for a little while longer before showering and getting ready for bed, and now I'm here. It's getting late (just past 1:30 am) so I'm gonna go to bed now. Goodnight friends. Happy weekend.

okay, today. oof. I really had nothing to do for work (like NOTHING) other than a call at 2, so I ended up sleeping to like 1:50, and then of course the call took all of four minutes, but I knew I did need to actually get up at that point. but yeah, not much to do. once work was over and everything was sorted, I started packing, which of course has been a major pain in the butt and took up the rest of the night, but I wasn't able to get it all done because I ran out of tape, so after court tomorrow I need to make a quick store run to get more tape and hope the boxes I have left are enough, because gaining more boxes would take a lot longer than just grabbing tape from the store. so that's where I'm at. everything in my bedroom and pantry is packed, as well as about half my dishes, so I just need to finish those and a few other random things, so I should be okay. but yeah, once I ran out of tape I showered and now I'm here and somehow still way tired despite sleeping forever, so I'm gonna go to bed now. okay I'm tired. today was fine, pretty chill. I woke up a bit late since I didn't have court until 11, but that went mostly fine. the rest of the day was pretty slow, not much to do, so I mostly just did random tasks here and there. made an instacart order, and around 4 started making dinner so it'd be ready when my roommate got home and we could watch the new episode of gp999. it was another elimination episode so of course I cried for a lot of it because I'm a sucker like that and although I already knew for the most part who was going to get eliminated (accurate spoilers had been floating around all week decoded from the preview) it was still sad to see some of my favs go, but I was also happy a lot of them made it. after the episode was over we just chilled for a bit, i played my game and such until I decided to shower and start getting ready for bed, and now I'm here and very tired since it's just past 1:30 am, so I'm gonna go to bed now. so glad I get to sleep in tomorrow. okay I'm tired, but today was pretty good. up at 8:45 for court, which went fine thankfully, because it at first looked like it could be messy. I spent most of the rest of the morning doing hearing prep, since it looked like we would be going forward with it this afternoon, but when we logged on for zoom we found out they'd just finished the morning court call (it was 2 pm) and the judge was assigned for late duty, so we had to move the hearing for three weeks, which can give us some more time to track down a witness I think would be very helpful, so I'm okay with that. after that I really didn't have much of anything to do, so I did a few random tasks and then just played my game for a while, lol. I started making dinner around 4:30, and it was ready just when my roommate walked in the door at 5. we immediately started the new gp999 episode while we ate dinner. pretty good episode, solid performances from pretty much everybody, I just really want to know who's going to be eliminated now, lol. after we finished, my roommate wanted to run to target to buy more copies of the new nct 127 album, so we did that, and then ended up going home quickly because it started storming badly out of nowhere. once we got home we just chilled out for a while until roommate went to bed, and I played my game for a while longer before getting ready for bed, and now I'm here. I don't even get to sleep in tomorrow because I have the church justice center early, but maybe depending on how busy I am I can fit in an afternoon nap. We'll see. but for now I'm gonna go to bed. okay it’s late and I’m sleepy. today was fine, not particularly interesting. got up at 9 since it was a clinic day, so I got a few more minutes of sleep, which was nice. I pretty much immediately started assigning cases, as we had follow ups from yesterday and a dew new callers. Overall everything went pretty well, one of the cases was pretty complex and most of our interns are brand new, so that was a bit of a project to get done, but we made a lot of progress. we decided not to record tonight but would be doing so later in the week, so I watched the Resident live and then caught up on the two 9-1-1 shows from last night. after I did that I switched to the news and just let that play out until it turns into Jimmy Kimmel, which I end up going to shower just as he ended. Shower, getting ready for bed and now I’m here and my eyelids are seriously drooping, I wrote half of this post with my eyes closed (like really) so now sounds like a great time to go to sleep. Final ramblings from someone who never watched gp999 but knows everything anyway and overall thinks the final group is decent enough: i’ve seen a lot of speculation about rigging but really if mnet rigged it they probably would’ve fucked with the overall rankings and booted huening for either kawaguchi or another k girl they liked since I heard they stopped pushing her as much in later episodes. Other than that this lineup is pretty much exactly what the show was leading up to (and the fact that she was popular enough to rank second has no bearing on if she’d get rigged out since mnet booted idol schools winner lol I’m telling you this stuff depends so much on some pd or staff member taking a liking to you anyway I still think there may have been some fiddling somewhere on the back end to get some girls in but who knows what maybe bot voting or fuckin with the ratio over flat-out rigging)

There was never anyway anyone wanted to deal with more than one c girl in the group anyway since the general c idol baggage and specific baggage around popular contestants was too much from the start and xiaoting ended up being the only one that knetz found at all acceptable. Its sad for sure but when it’s been built up to in such a clear way it kind of is what it is

Anyway huenings nepotism coin might make up for any lost foreigner potential anyway lol but overall this group depends a lot on how much effort Mnet puts into em and what concept they go for. Idk if they have the vocals for it but maybe old gfriend since lightsum just decided to fill the izone void and if they’re going to do either that or wjsn they’d have to for sure do it just as well or better than those groups or they’d just get shit on. Definitely not girl crush since only like two of em can pull it off or even want to. OKAY. It is 1:40 am and I am sitting on my mom’s bed in NY about to go to bed. It has been a long day. Woke up at 7, went to work, did some clinic stuff but no new cases, just follow ups, but we did manage to get two filed which was good. I was waiting for court most of the morning for a stupid motion that was going to get granted anyway, but oh well. That didn’t happen until almost 1:30 when it was set for 11 because one of the new judges was handling the call and I’m sure it was packed anyway. Once we got the cases filed the office was pretty dead and my boss was like yeah you can go home early haha so I ended up ubering home. I got a text notification that the package for roommate’s Hanukkah present was delivered, which was a custom cardboard cutout of one of the contestants from gp999 (if anyone reading this actually knows what I’m talking about, it was Hsinwei) who like was not actually our favorite person but we just found her to be hilarious and the idea of having a cardboard cutout of her was hilarious, but when I got home the package was MIA, so I checked the tracking and yep, it got delivered to totally the wrong address, no idea how that happened.

Roommate was getting off work and aware of the present so she picked me up and we drove down the street a bit to the house number where it was delivered, they like had a gate and a front door it was inside of but both were unlocked so I just grabbed it?? Felt sketchy but I mean it’s mine and nobody was around haha and of course the box is fucking huge. So we get it home and set it up and holy smokes, it is SO LARGE, like I think I paid for it to be like 5’6” or so but it’s easily 6 foot, much taller than us, and I think they ended up photoshopping on her feet from another picture I sent in so her feet to upper torso ratio was hilariously off and basically it’s our favorite thing haha I’ll post a picture after this. But it’s fantastic and we love it, good thing I got off early for that little adventure. But yeah, after that I got everything together and Ubered to the blue line to take that to the airport because I knew it would be faster than rush hour traffic (and significantly cheaper, because ubering to the airport is like $60) so I made pretty good time, it’s just kind of a hike getting from the train into the terminals, but oh well. Security wasn’t bad, and I made it with time to spare, so low stress which was good.

No hitches on boarding or anything and the flight was fine, just kinda chilled out listening to music and playing games on my phone. Once we landed it took a while to deplane, and then when I got to baggage claim our flight was just like not on the list of carousels, but I went exploring a bit and found it listed on like the furthest one that practically abandoned and had just started putting out bags, so I got my bag like first at least haha. The car was conveniently located so I didn’t have to go far with the bag. Drive home was fine, I got in at like 1:15 or so, showered and now I’m here and since I took the time to write this it’s now like 1:50 and I am very tired, so I’m going to bed now. Goodnight friends. okay, well today was fine. woke up at 5:45 am (god am I tired) for the gp999 finale (spoilers ahead!). I don't want to get too much into my thoughts, but for the most part I enjoyed the episode and thought it was well done. the eliminations were sad of course, and I'm disappointed Bora didn't make it, but at this point I knew her chances were unlikely, and she's lucky enough to have a group to go back to (FNC better be giving them a comeback way sooner than people are speculating!!) so we'll probably hear more from her in the future, and I'm excited for that. the subreddit has been filled with hate for Bahiyyih all day, which has been depressing to see because she's literally a child and is mostly being hated on for circumstances outside of her control. I wouldn't quite classify myself as a fan of hers, but I've come not to mind her, and I'm happy for her that she made it into the group, so hopefully the hate will die down. we ordered brunch while watching the episode but the address got messed up and the order was cancelled after they couldn't get in touch with the driver to bring it to the right address, but then the driver showed up with the food anyway, but we had already ordered from another place by then, so we ended up with two brunch dishes, so we'll eat the second in the morning. but yeah, after the episode I got to work, not a terribly exciting day, mostly just doing random stuff and some prep for the hearing I have on Monday (R is self-representing, so I'm not too concerned about our chances of winning. Around 4:45 I started dinner, which went pretty well for the most part. I had the kitchen/back door open while I was cooking because our smoke alarm has proven to be very sensitive and often goes off while I cook, so I was trying to take some preventative measures, and I'm pretty sure it would've gone off had I not. After I finished cooking and was waiting for roommate to get home though, kitty alerted me that a bee (yellow jacket) had made it into our apartment from the open door. now, I'm not scared of normal bugs at all and will not hesitate to squish them, but I'm absolutely terrified of bees and was honestly on the verge of a panic attack. I managed to stick kitty in my bedroom with the door closed and then opened the kitchen back door and the door to our balcony hoping it would fly out, but it was just chilling on the window and didn't seem to want to move, so I grabbed the biggest flat, heavy object I could find, which happened to be the giant ass saucepan we got at ikea, very carefully approached and used the bottom of the pot to smush the bee against the window, which was thankfully successful, but I was honestly so distressed about the whole incident it took me like half an hour to fully calm down and recover lol. so that was something. Roommate came home after all this and we had dinner, then just chilled for the rest of the night with the usual thing until I showered and started getting ready for bed, and now I'm here. super glad I can sleep in tomorrow morning because i'm straight up exhausted, and on that note I'm going to go to bed now.
