honestly, above all else i see her has someone who everyone else feels entitled to- she’s a police officer, she’s an adopted daughter/sister, and before, she was a ward of the state. i think that all of this kind of lead to her being boxed into whatever all these people want her to be, which is compounded by the fact that her family are also her co workers. she has to be what everyone needs all at once, even if the people around her are demanding the opposite things (i think a scene that paints this very strongly is the scene where the virks are pleading for the police to look into it, while her brother stands above her, silently commanding her not to let her emotions get in the way of their job.)

and her relationship with rebecca is no different!! rebecca feels entitled to her too, at least to a certain extent. she feels entitled to her queerness, to their former status. i don’t mean to say that rebecca isn’t as fraught and conflicted as cam, because she does carry guilt over how things went down, but doesn’t and while cam is visibly conflicted by her return to victoria after “dropping off the face of the earth,” and rebecca more or less begins flirting like nothing happened, to pick up wherever they left. i know cam loves rebecca, but it’s hard for her to reconcile this with their past, and rebecca’s rush to make up for that.
