i have done very little editing so all of this is subject to change but here's a lil snippet so far :)

“Pleasure to meet you,” Dick says, sticking his hand out, willing the sweat on his palms to wick away. “Richard.”

Slade’s eyebrow quirks upwards at the use of Dick’s name. Falcone misconstrues. “You’re familiar with Richard Wayne, I presume?”

“I’m familiar,” Slade says evenly. His too-tight grip feels like a warning.

“Well, don’t just stand there. Come sit, hon.” Falcone leans back and pats his thigh. “Or don’t tell me you’re gettin’ all shy on me now?”

Falcone’s always been one to showboat. Golden chandelier overhead, golden Patek Philippe on his wrist, Bruce Wayne’s golden boy in his lap. It’s what’s made him such an easy mark for this mission. Playing trophy to Falcone in front of Gotham high society is one thing, but in front of Slade — the two steps to Falcone’s armchair suddenly seem an unclosable distance. 

If there’s one thing Dick Grayson can do, though, it’s perform under pressure.

“Shy?” Dick smiles, aiming for playful. He swings a leg over Falcone’s thigh, drapes his arms over his neck, lifts his lips to Falcone’s ear. Half-turned like this, he can still keep watch over Slade from the corner of his eye. “You don’t know me at all.”

“Then it’s a good thing we’re getting nice and acquainted, ain’t it,” Falcone drawls. He brushes a hand past Dick’s waist to finger idly at his belt loops. Slade’s eye tracks the movement for a millisecond before settling somewhere in the general vicinity of the coffee table, as if bored.

But only as if. Call it intuition, call it years of learning how to read the man through his mask, Dick’s got a way of telling how Slade’s feeling just from the set of his broad, broad shoulders. Right now those shoulders look like they’re fighting to keep his arms from rearing up and ripping Dick clean off Falcone’s lap, and maybe ripping Dick’s head off his shoulders while he’s at it.
